Tam &Toby do Europe ...Take two

Having looked at his facebook page he actually has my sink as his main profile photo so looks like he already has the mould .....£135 plus £15 postage

Tam, I know someone who had the very same sink as that, but he managed to get it shaped inwardly at the front, so as to increase the space in the washroom. That may also be available as a mould from Derek. It really did make a big difference when viewed after installation.

Cheers,

Jock. ?

I've just remembered, the photos of the end result may be on the HOG that you are a member of Tam. I'm not anymore, so can't go and have a look. If you want the guy's name for the search facility, just PM me, and I'll respond. ?

Cheers,

Jock. ?

They certainly seem to get good reviews ....not sure yet where I can fit one due to the double floors but it would be a good back up option in winter
As mitzimad said if you could get it on the lower floor or place in a locker so that all the air intake & wired fuel pipes go through to the outside then all you need is to bring the inlet & outlet pipes up in to the cabin.

I was considering mounting mine under neath with a water proof cover but had to work out how to mount inside when I had to fit it in the uk .

I'm not on hog anymore either jock ...I left it quite a while ago as the guy who runs it is an arse to be honest lol

But I might ask the guy who makes them if he recalls the one you mean and if he has a photo

Yeah I'd thought that too but the hymer has a different double floor setup to what the frankia did ....there isnt much access to it other than the fresh and waste water ....
Garage area probably be best but then it's getting the vent to the right place

This is the sink in question, original poster does not say who made it , just somebody in Essex
others had used Derek.
if you interested in the mod one I can message the original poster.

That's the one, from my old pal Johnny. ?
We've kept in touch since the early days of Motorhomefacts.

I didn't realise it wasn't Derek Justice who did the job.
It certainly gives a lot more space when accessing the toilet. ?

Cheers,

Jock.

Yeah that's a different layout from mine ....not sure I like it I'll probably just stick with the original design

That looks brilliant. We have the original round sink and I have always thought that it sticks out too far and would be better design if it had been oval shaped. Many times I have been tempted to get a glass or stainless steel front made and cut away the front face of the sink so as to gain the extra space. If it is possible to get a replacement sink like the one in the photo, I would be very interested.
The round sink is one of my big gripes of bad design in our B654, specified by somebody who has no experience/interest of using the space.

possibly find where theres room and cut a seperate hatch for the heater to drop into

Well I emailed both the places that do sinks

Neither have replied ?‍♂️

Still theres no rush....kitchen tap playing up again thought I could resolder but the wire is knackered so waiting for a new switch to arrive ...that looks fun to feed through the tap ...not.

I took off the back wheels to check out the rear shocks etc and whilst they are rusty they arent leaking so I'm in two minds whether to replace them just now or not

Other than that I've not done much this week ...just work and tidying up mums garden.

Can't continue the 7 nights for much longer so once the lockdown is over I think I'll drop the friday and saturday nights so I've a few nights off and see if I can find myself a partner in crime as I'm really getting fed up being single

This social distancing thing is crap when single ....really kills the dating potential

The wiring to the microswitch on my washroom tap has just gone for the 4th time. I currently in the middle of fitting a Shurflio pressure pump.
Goodby microswitches.

My advice as well, no need to get to the taps just replace the pump and away to go.

I'm sure when I bought this van and compared the rather poor in comparison to the frankia water pressure folk told me I couldn't fit a shurflo pump as all the pipework couldn't take the pressure.

As most of the pipes in this van are a complete ???? to access I didn't bother.

But I have to say the microswitches are a complete pain and the price of the taps are ridiculous.

My kitchen tap is over £100 to replace like for like .....microswitch from reich is £20 odd quid

I found them from a non caravan/motorhome source for £8 so that's the one I've ordered but I think feeding the wires through will be a pain.

Very seldom it's the microswitch that fails it's the wires to it that break. If you don't get the wires routed through the taps exactly right it's not long before they break again.

I'm stuck at the moment waiting for a few bits everything is taking so long to be delivered at the moment. When finished I'll put it on my modding thread, in my van it's very easy to do.

This thing about Shurflo vs drop in pumps and a pressure switch is not true. A decent drop-in pump like the one fitted by Hymer will out-perform a Shurflo in every respect. It will produce a higher pressure at a higher flow rate. The 'double-barrel' Reich pump fitted by Hymer will happily operate a pressure system. You simply need to fit an in-line pressure switch like the one below. Check your Reich pump has a non-return valve (most have) and you're good to go.

Changed a couple of those microswitches in my tugging days, they really should come supplied with silicon insulated tails to allow a bit of flexing, I'm sure it's the insulation that hardens up and causes the breaks ?

I dunno I just know that In my frankia the shower put dents in you and the hymer in comparison is poor

On another note did you sell your skylight as i left a reply on your add a few days back

Yeah it's always been the wires that broke on mine ..I've soldered it about 4 times now but this time the wire has pulled right out the switch

And yeah the time some stuff is taking to arrive is a joke yet other things are arriving very quickly

I've been waiting 10 days on one item yet I received things today I only ordered on wednesday afternoon.

My microswitch is apparently 01/06

I've to make the 3 foot trip to the bathroom to fill my kettle meantime .....very annoying ?

If the Hymer is poor it may be that the pump is on the way out. The Reich pump will continue with only one half working. Do look at the specs for the types of pump - the Shurflo and others of its type are expensive and poor by comparison. They come into their own if there's a need to lift water from an underfloor tank and the pump is indoors - that's their only advantage.

I still have the rooflight - sorry I didn't spot your reply. It's very cheap :)

I'm on my 3rd Hymer with the Reich tandem pump although the water pressure is OK it's never been as good as vans I have seen with the Shurflo pump. Although the Reich pump may have a higher frow rate the pressure is lower, 1.4 bar compared to the mid range Shurflo I've just bought at 2.1 bar. It should work better in the Hymer as Hymer's only have 10 mm plumbing, high flow rates are only any good if you have a large bore system.
The Whale pressure switch you linked to, I wouldn't fit one of those if you paid me, I've had those in caravans a right piece of junk.

I just paid £8 more for the 2.1bar Shorflo than what a 1.4 bar Reich would have cost & it has the built in pressure switch & it came complete with the strainer inlet filter.

What pressure do you run? 20psi from the Reich seems more than OK to me. I agree about pipework but I'm not sure higher pressure is a good answer. The pressure switch I linked was an example not a recommendation - I agree about the Whale. The flow rate from the Shurflo (all pumps) falls dramatically as the outlet is restricted to achieve rated pressure so as long as it's enough to hold up against pipe restriction any higher is pointless. Flow rate at the pressure required is most important. My price comparison was from a while ago but re-checked using eBay. Trail King around £70, Reich 19 lpm around £50. I'm aware there's a pressure switch to add.

There are 4 Shurflo Trail King pumps, 20 psi 7Lt, 30 psi 7Lt, 30psi 10.6Lt & 45psi 10.6Lt.
I bought the 30psi 10.6 Lt for £55 including the inlet filter.

They do say you should use a minimum of 12mm plumbing but plenty of people have fitted them into Hymers without any problems so fingers crossed.

I initially thought that so I fitted a new pump with non return valve which started playing up so I fitted a second inline non return valve which improved it but still not as good as the frankia was.

But its bearable...

Regarding the rooflight what did you mean by a bruise?

I'm looking to fit one in my bathroom instead of the old pop up one as it's quite draughty and I don't trust it in wind

Turn bathroom tap just enough to operate the microswitch then fill kettle in sink ;) .
Tap is in bits at the minute waiting for a new switch

Anyway if I go on the bathroom to turn on tap I'm aswell filling kettle while there ?

A very short split and a small area of visible crazing. Never noticed it while it was on the van. Apart from that it's in excellent condition as are the blinds etc. It came with the van so 2012.

Cool well you would have noticed if it leaked so it should do the job

How much do you want for it posted ?
