Tam &Toby do Europe ...Take two

The piccy's yet again are superb and I second what other people have already said, I too would never be able to get to these places. Thank you so much for sharing them(y).
Now, just a small favour - the views we saw yesterday before you got up in the clouds held so much promise- couldn't you just nip back up there again? Pretty please :p:D.
I was tempted to be honest but between the bike ride 2 days ago the 3.5 hour hike yesterday and the 2.5 hour one today I have to say the muscles in my calves are killing me. I'm gutted I didn't get the view yesterday I feel I missed out but I couldn't climb up there again today.

Loving your trip so far, Tam. Pics are great. How do you find these beautiful places?
Some are just luck others are from reviews of other folks travels etc.
I passed these mountains last year and remember thinking they looked different so I had looked them up online and then saw there was a monestary up there. Looked on park4night and found a few parking spots up there so decided this time I'd go and look.
I highly reccomend it If you like the outdoors , there's several walks to do and it's so peaceful and quiet.

I got to thinking did Jolene take dollys man in the end ?
No, Dolly saw her off. Been married 54 years now I think it is ?
She talks about in in some of her shows & now refers to it when husband is asleep in the chair as" I look at him & think Jolene where are you when I need you ?"

So after out hike this morning we went back to Toby for lunch and then I left jade to nap and I went back for a look at the actual monestary. I dunno why I like churches etc but I love the extravagance of them I Guess.
I'm not religious myself but I appreciate the architecture and the art and I guess the dedication and faith that inspires folk to build design and create them. So here's a few pics of the monestary itself . It's free to enter you only pay for the parking which is €6.50 for 24 hours or €8 for 48 ....I paid €8 as I was there more than 24 hours.
P.s if you go don't pay at the machine it will try to charge you €57 you go and pay the guard manually.

We last went there around 2001 and didn't see the sights. We went for an orienteering race! Sometime we need to rectify our mistake and go and have a proper look around.

Thanks for reminding me.

Lovely photos.

I appreciate the architecture and the art

Is "bling" a new word ? I'm sure the designers of these places had their own version. As did the Moors before them.

It has to be said, those that make a beeline for Beni and straight back do miss a lot.

I can't remember, have you visited Avila yet ?

Aye they certainly know how to bling ...

Haven't been to Avila...I didn't get anywhere near Madrid last time as I stuck pretty much to the coast with only the odd trip inland here and there but not that far in.

That's exactly how I feel about religious buildings, I have visited them all over Spain, France,Portugal and a few in Italy, not been inside all of them(don't like paying) some of them locked, and the Spanish are definitely the kings of bling:)

So we left Montserrat around 3pm and drove the 30k or so to a wee aire I stayed at last year outside Barcelona. Will stay here tonight and probably go on to sitges tomorrow. I need to find a laundarette now as I've a couple of bags of washing accumulated. Will try and do that tomorrow.

Busy wee place this and there's about a dozen campers here , fortunately only 3 were actually in the motorhome spaces so I got a spot ok . Nice and sunny so hopefully tops my solar up a bit as i was parked in the shade up the mountain so got sod all charge while parked there and had heating and tv on a good while last night so batteries were down at 85% ....up to 92% so far :)

Yeah I'm not really one for paying to see them inside , couple of euros maybe ( I put 2€ in a collection box for the choir in that one ) but not up for paying a lot to visit a church.

Oh Please! I'm not impressed like , some scumbag has slashed my bike cover.
Obviously to see if the bike was locked on to the rack. Which it is with two heavy duty chains. I didn't notice it when I left the monestary but I'm assuming it was done there as I haven't left the van unnatended since. Although I have heard a couple of noises behind the van while I've been lying here reading.
I just bought that bloody cover before I left.

Bloody monks

Ouch! Scumbags. Consider yourself as getting off lightly, might've been worse if they had nicked the bike.

Aye I know ...that said they would need to come prepared to Nick the bike as they would need to cut the rack or the 2 heavy duty locks on it.
Still a pain with the cover though that's £30 down the drain and only 2 weeks in to the trip so it will probably end up shredded

Martin was always unsure about going there. It's (or was at least) a well known climbing area and the climbers' cars got targetted regularly. Seems nothing much has changed, unfortunately. Hope you can repair it.

Morning.
Started off lovely and sunny this morning but it's a bit cloudy now :( although it's still dry so that's the main thing.
Emptied and filled this morning before leaving the aire, I had planned to stop in st boi and do laundry, pick up some meat from mercadonna, get a hair cut before heading to sitges but the car park I had sussed out on Google earth was busier than I expected so couldn't get parked. So I just headed off to sitges. I'm not desperate for laundry so it can wait a few days.
I liked this wee town last time so I'll stay a day or two. Nice walk along the shore to town. So I'm in the same place as last time , only one other van here a British maroon coloured pvc...they were actually at the monestary too but they only stayed an hour and buggerred of again.

That’s where we were last March when broken into. Although we had to park just up a side street as there was a resident in one of the houses there who kept coming out and pointing out the parking signs that say no longer than 5m.
