Tam &Toby do Europe ...Take two

You certainly see some strange people about lol ...these 3 were standing holding what looked like broom handles staring at the sea . They were there when we first passed on our walk and still in exactly the same position when we walked back 35 mins later lol

I can see a spare broom stick next to the bloke on the left, you could have gone and got some tuition! :D
 
Well all those other motorhomes turning up last night seems to have burst the ball.
I had decided I was going to drive up and park in the carpark closer to town so I could do my laundry etc and as luck would have it if no sooner sat my bum in the driver seat than a policeman tapped at my window. Asked if I spoke Spanish to which I replied poco...And he rattled off a big speech in Spanish I understood none of lol but I got the distinct impression it was something like bugger off your van is too big to park here , they were moving them all.
I said I was going anyway which should have been apparent as my engine was running my seatbelt was on and I was typing coordinates in to sat nav when he tapped at window.

Anyway I couldn't get in the carpark I wanted as it's closed off for building work so I'm parked a few streets away about a 10/15 minute walk from the town centre and laundarette. So I'm gonna go to some laundry

Actually, the “asking for a friend” bit was just a ruse :)

Without getting too boring and hijacking the thread, we are about 10km from Tam on a huge site at Vilanova. Not our thing really, but we moved north a bit in a hurry as a storm was about to hit Alcossebre - winds are just starting to pick up there now.

We’re moving on to Girona tomorrow, but I considered a night on the front at Sitges. The reports of breakins and police moving vans on were putting me off a bit though, and now the latter has happened anyway.

I'd never have guessed:p I stayed in Villanova in a car park last year but mixed reviews of it now on park4night so I'm not sure I can stay there again. I then used at free aire at the other vilanueva lol which I may have to do again and then I think my next stop will be tarragona. Need to do MY laundry first today before I decide where to go next

obviously not she looks happy ,she also looks a lot better which must be a great relief to tam

Well I've done my laundry and popped in to Lidl for a few items then I tried to find somewhere else to park for the night, I checked out 3 spots in Villanova, one in cubelles ,one in cunit all of which were pants so I'm a very uncharming carpark in calafell but I'm tired of looking for somewhere now and it's dinner time so I'm jist going to crash here for the night I'll give the coordinates but you really wouldn't choose this place ....There is a mercadonna right in front of me though which is handy as I want some caramel capuccino lol so I'll grab some In the morning :). .....off to cook dinner I'm having chicken tonight.

Jade is in the bad books as we had a walk on the beach In Villanova and she rolled in something and stinks so she's been sent to bed.

They usually are, in our limited experience at least, but according to the Mercadona web site, the one in Calafell is closed on Sundays. Two hours till they close tonight...

I was sure they’ve been open in quite a few places we’ve been in Spain so far, until now. Maybe it was other supermarkets we’ve used on Sundays.

Having checked, there seems to be a Catalonian thing, shops are only allowed to open on 8 Sundays or holidays per year (apart from small food shops).

Definitely closed in Albir, and Benicasim on a sunday as is Lidle.

I think I’m getting confused with Portugal! I can never remember what country I’m in. Things will be much simpler next week when we’re back in France, where everything is shut whenever you actually want it :LOL:

coastal has a different set of rules to inland due to tourism.

No.that is the normal everywhere except coastal which, due to tourism, are allowed to open 7 days/week ,if they wish.

I agree that French shop opening times are odd, but, we’ve found a lot of the supermarché opened on Sunday over the Xmas/New Year period and are still opening on Sunday mornings.
They still need about 2 or 3 hours for lunch tho in the week!
 
Has jade had a cold shower then? Hope she’s smelling of roses now.
 
Well that wasn't the worst place I've stayed overnight but it was in the top 10 of crap places to stop.

Supermarket handy ...

But trains and idiots in cars till the small hours. I actually slept ok though but woke up a couple of times.
Didn't feel the most secure either so I wouldn't reccomend it.

Off now to find somewhere nice to stop for a walk then I need to use a service point before heading to tarragona
