Tam &Toby do Europe ...Take two

Easiest probably just to fit another non return valve somewhere close to the pump. I'v done this before with a submersible that was letting the water flow back. It was quite cheap.

They've gone up a bit since I did mine but loads of different ones on fleabay £7-10

Had a problem with a non return valve - the problem was grit (or limescale?) holding it open - cleaned it - sorted

That is the overflow/vent pipe it will exit under the van.

You could take the non return valve of the old pump & fit to the new one. A pig to get off but they do come off.
Dont want to risk breaking both.
I'll remove it tomorrow and replace the bit hose between pump and cap and refit connectors, glue the bit on the cap that's split also and see how it goes.
I plan to fit another non return valve on the pipe before it attaches to the cap once home anyway.

Neither of the sender units ate working either or once again it could be the control panel being faulty.

Wasted about 45 litre of water tonight ...

If it's the non return valve you wouldn't be wasting that much water. What would happen is each time turn on a tap you would have to wait for the air to purge before any water comes out. Also it would happen everytime you turn a tap on if it's been off for a while as each time you turn the tap off the the water would gradually run back down to the tank .

I think you must have an air leak at a connection somewhere.

The water is being wasted by me having to run all 3 taps for ages to get all the air out each time it does it.
4 times it did it today so 4 times I had to bleed it.

But after each time I bled it the water doesn't stay at the taps but runs back to the tank I can hear it running back out the pump.

Like I said it's only done this on 4 pr 5 occasions over the last few months
But each time it takes 3 or 4 attempts at bleeding it before it eventually goes back to normal

Like everything on this van it's never simple
I'm convinced its bewitched

Does sound like the non return valve, I'm wondering if you have a faulty non return valve and air getting into the system as well.

God knows , I'll try cleaning it and reseating the hoses and clips tomorrow just incase its not airtight. And try and glue the wee split in the cap as that's a pain when I'm filling up. Will see how that goes.
Not impressed with the pumps ....I'm pretty sure the old one had the same issue hence replacement and £45 a pop I expect it to last more than a year.
Gotta find a stop with a tap soon now too

Those pumps a generally very reliable as long as you don't run them dry.

Might be easier to see if you can fill up at a garage, don't put any fuel in until you have asked then. Most Aires & Stellaplatz in the north will have the water turned off now.

Can I ask... what's the connection between welding & milk?

You could remove the pump and try blowing down the top outlet pipe. If unable to blow through then non return valve is working, if able to blow through then it is not seating properly. I had a similar problem to you, same motorhome (but 2007) with same pump etc. I ended up shortening the tube from the tank top fitting by the depth of an inline non return valve and re-assembled so that the pump again sat on the tank floor. No problem since. A previous pump also developed a faulty non return valve, so a common problem.
I always remove the whole pipe/ pump unit in the winter (SORN vehicle) and open the taps up to enable the water to clear from the system (also blow down the shower hose) - with the pump in place the system is unable to drain due to the nrv. The removal of the pump also enables the taps to be left in the open position.

I was wondering about that too.

Could try immersing the pump in a solution of 50/50 hot white wine vinegar & water. Should dissolve any calcium.

Dismantled it this morning, you can blow through it and water comes out ?‍♂️
Anyway I put a new bit hose between pump and cap and resealed it , glued the split in cap and refitted it , bled it and seems to be ok for now

Had to pop in to nederlands for free water now heading towards munchen gladback I think.

There’s an old myth that drinking milk counteracts the effect of welding fumes.
I was always told it was something to do with the zinc

Googling it seems to throw up similar

Bloody pump did the same again last night...lost the plot

So I'm gonna fot a second valve see if that sorts the problem

Pretty sure that will do the trick. Make sure you fit it the right way round!
All done ...seems to have worked

And seems to have increased pressure too my toilet now flushes all the way round

I dont think the original valve has ever been that good.

Hopefully

After lunch I moved to duisburg theres a sort of aire here at an old abandoned ironworks....well theres loads of places to park and a terminal for fresh water and cassette emptying and cleaning.

If you like old engineering stuff and abandoned buildings etc this is for you

Quite interesting to walk around

Have you got your Truma heating problems sorted out now ?
The heater works fine now its wired straight to the battery rather than from the ebl

Haven't had any issues with that since , still have probs with the control panel now and then but I've found ways to combat that at the minute till I get both the ebl and panel tested.

Looks like they use it as a climbing wall now? Cool pics and would be quite creepy at night. I think i would watch a zombie movie and then take the dog for a late night stroll if i was camping there!
