Tam &Toby do Europe ...Take two

Annoying but if you'd retaliated, you would only have been labelled as an ignorant Brit

I think the French woman next door to me and the old Dutch couple the other side of the noisy bugger were glad I banged on the door as they were all out as were most of the vans owners

Poor Tam seems to be angry quite a lot of the time these days, which is a great shame lol
I'm only angry when folk take the mickey I waited a good 40 minutes before knocking his door last night I don't think that's acceptable behaviour on an aire. It was bad enough doing it daytime when they first arrived regardless of the environmental argument of leaving an engine idling for an hour it's unnecessary noise but to do it that late at night also I do wonder what kind if people think that's acceptable....

But hey ho 2 other vans now arrived where I am tonight...an older French couple and 2 young girls in a tiny motor home

Jeeso it's cold up here lol I woke up at 4.30 freezing had to get up for a blanket.
Dogs went outside for a pee at 8am and Milo ran straight back in and went hiding in the cab.

Such a big drop in temperature from yesterday at badajoz where it was still in th 30's daytime and low 20's overnight

Parked here tonight at marvoa

Now I'm really jealous. Having spent the last three years living a stones through from your overnight spot and nearly ten years visiting the area we are now sitting in a field in Kent and Marvao could be a million miles away, hoping to return one day. Always stayed cool overnight up at the top, was a place we went when it was to hot a little lower down.

Not a place that everyone enjoys but we love it, enjoy.

Shawn.

QUOTE It has been an aire previously , has water and toilet waste point but small signs up saying no overnight parking , I plan to ignore that as many comments on park4night saying they have stayed overnight ....apparently the gnr have told people they dont have an issue but the local campsite is putting pressure on them to stop people staying overnight. QUOTE

Just to be clear for others reading there are two campsites close by, Santo Antônio and one near Beira, it's the owner from the second one that has caused the signs to be put up at the Aire, he seems to have a lot of influence on the council.
Gary at the Santo Antônio campsite is a good friend and it's a lovely little site if anyone's heading that way.

Well I have to say folks if you have never visited this village I can highly reccomend it. I think I can say hand on heart it has moved in to the no1 spot for the best fortified hilltop village and castle I've ever visited.....and as a scotsman where we practically invented the castle that's wuite a statement ? but it is beautiful.....the views are breathtaking whichever way you look ,you can literally see for miles I'm every direction, the wee village is spotless which in itself is rare and even moreso considering the constant wind. Entry to the actual castle is €1.50 Dogs are allowed and free be prepared for some breathtaking pics.

To be honest when I arrived there was one van which left . Bit by the time I went to bed there were 7 , and this morning all 10 parking bays have a camper in them. Another brit just pulled in beside me

Praise indeed Tam, particularly coming from you! But as you say, somewhere clean with no litter. ... (y)
Yes which sadly ive found to be rare in Spain and Portugal

I absolutely loed Marvao. We used the aire as well. With a 9metre motrhome and a car on a trailer on the back. We had to disconnect the trailer to turn round.

I bought some postcards, because it was so spectacular, and couldnt bear to send them to anyone. On of my favourite stops in inland Portugal. Hopefully i will be there again some time.

Really glad you’re loving Portugal this time round.
I’ve only been once ... with work ... on the way from the airport we drove past shepherds on horseback ... striped rugs over the quarters of their horses ... long staffs in their hands. It was another world - or maybe just from another time ...

That does look lovely Tam, my sort of spot that! I expect the dogs were only trying to help lol :ROFLMAO:
