Tam &Toby do Europe ...Take two

Don't care what other disputes there have been. In Gib Jack abandoned Tam when he needed him to help protect Jade and Milo. True friends don't do that.
Exactly. He'd have been lucky to get back in the van yesterday if that had been me.

How do you all know this , as far as I know we only have tams side of the story unless you all have some knowledge that I don't, not saying it's not as tam says but you all seem to come down on one side without the full details.
It happens a lot on here , sometimes I think I'm on a different forum.
No I think you are on this one , going by the messages you post :)

Tam said Jack booked the flight home.

I took that at face value.

I commented on nothing else but Jack's decision on that.

Re the Monkeys, glad you all got away ok but they could have ripped the dogs to bits easy and not much you would have been able to do to stop them if they’d got into it!
No way I would trust a Monkey of any description anywhere, anytime for anything!

If it had been me , I wouldn't have had dogs up there in the first place.

Hi Tam, been following your thread on and off for a while. Sorry to hear you’ve had an unpleasant few days. We are in Southern France and heading to Southern Spain, just wondering whereabouts in Torremelinos you have managed to park up for the night.? Cheers

I will never go up there now, with or without my dogs (who would quite happily shred a monkey or two), the money grabbing b@rstards knew way more than they let on and should have refused you tickets while you had the dogs with you.

I can't see how taking money from people and letting them go up only to be attacked by the monkeys is a particularly good idea for future business, if blood had been spilt or worse, in front of kids etc, this would all be out on social media in no time and do them way more harm than the few euro's they got off Tam.

Rant over but that really p1ssed me off.

The thing is that the apes are all over Gibraltar, not just on the rock.

If you walk by the cemetery they regularly steal carrier bags from passers by. I had a raiding party of apes trash my hotel room while I was staying at the Rock Hotel. One was actually in the room when I came back - I just yelled at it... it bared it's teeth at me, I bared my teeth at it and lunged toward it... he legged it out of the window. I'm quite a petite woman and I believe Tam is over 6 foot - more than a match for any ape I'd have thought! :)

There are lots of dogs in Gibraltar and they all seem to survive OK.

I dunno last week it was ianthebuilder you wee annoying with stupid posts I guess it's my turn this week.
I don't particularly like being made out ad a liar to be honest but it's as simple as this.

My van is my home , when I invite someone to join me for a cheap holiday I expect them to be considerate and respect my home not give me abuse resort to name calling and get aggressive when I ask them to follow a few simple rules.
After I told him off that was it over with in my opinion but he decided to sit arms crossed In a huff like a teenager for several hours and then book himself an earlier flight home.
His choice and by that point I think it was the best move.

But really it isn't any of your business you can think what you like but I don't appreciate someone coming on my thread being passive aggressive so if you can't refrain from leaving those kinds of remarks I'd rather you didn't leave any ?
Not much sympathy being shown for poor Jack who had to cut his holiday short, leave the sunshine and come home to the rain.

He didn't have to do anything other than respect my home.

Not entirely sure what point you're trying to make other than stirring a pot to be honest.

Ah well it must be great to be you.

There were other dogs around the park and as I already stated there was no warnings not to take them ....my dogs go everywhere I go it's that simple.

There's several places in torremolinos to park up with motorhomes free ....There's a few of those places with signs but no one seems to mind.

I park on a bit where there are no signs ...its basically unused buildings plots. It's quite I have a street to myself and it's 5 minutes walk from bars, shops and the beach

No offense ment, I have had dogs and cattle all my working life, now got neither, but I would never go near any wild animals or indeed any other cattle than my own with a dog, people who insist on taking dogs into fields containing cattle and calves deserve everything they get, and that is the same for monkeys.

Yep that's kind of how I felt , he told me 80% of the time there were no problems, the dogs are good with other animals and I think it's healthy for them to be familiar with other animals and encorouged not to show aggression to them etc ....hence they don't try to eat ducks , chase sheep or bark at horses etc....had he said they weren't allowed then I wouldn't have taken them.

He advised staying clear of their den so we did not go there.

We passed a few apes and monkeys on their own and apart from them being a little inquisitive they were fine.
We only encountered a problem when we reached a bit where lots of monkeys then gathered round and surrounded us by which time we had no choice but to try to head back down.

We only saw them on the top part of the rock and nowhere else

I basically agree with you chaser, but both you and I have grown up around livestock, not everyone has .
It would be useful if there were notices warning people of the dangers, but then not every country is as H and S obsessed as ours, or so concerned for the welfare of it's cats and dogs.

I'm not sure I buy it Charley...you always say no offence meant but I'm pretty sure you know when your being offensive.

It's like when people say " I'm not being racist but " and then say something completely racist.

I checked the nature reserves website before walking up to the rock ...There was no mention of dogs

I read over 20 reviews on TripAdvisor...4 other people mentioned dogs only saying they weren't allowed in the cafe restaurant and the cable car that was it ....nothing about monkeys attacking them.

I then specifically asked the guy while paying the €7 each fee to walk up the rock and was told just be careful keep them on a leash...he strongly advised against visiting the apes den but said the rest was fine 80% of time the monkeys didn't pay attention to the dogs ...

If he hadn't said that I wouldn't have taken them in.

On the way up I passed a guy with a bill terrier walking down...and we also saw a golden retriever with an older couple heading to st Michael's cave..

Many people who like walking have dogs and they take them everywhere , I don't let them off leads where there are animals because it's normally the dog who is the risk to the animal and not the other way around.

They may not be the best trained dogs in the world but I teach them not to chase bark or indeed be afraid of other animals as do many folk.

In Scotland you can walk through any farmers field as long as you respect the land and believe me loads of people walk through fields of cows and sheep with dogs with zero issues.

When I said I meant no offense to you I was referring to everyone not just you and expressing my opinion on dogs as you often do.

The people walk through the fields of cattle withdogs will be amongst the 80% who get away with it Tam.

Somewhat disrespectful. This is an open forum. If you tell people your business, then people will post in reply to it. Like you, we are all entitled to our opinions.

Sorry -
Some of the other20% aren't around to speak of their experiences.
Young cattle or freshly calved cows are notorious for being very dangerous -even to their owners!
The Royal Highland Show apparently featured a "safety " on farms element this year. There are a horrifying number of serious accidents and fatalities on farms each year involving firstly heavy machinery and secondly Livestock!
A few years ago a neighbouring property to our own in the Highlands changed hands. It had an undisputed right of way running through it and was regularly used by many local horse riders and dog walkers, both adults and children.
Whilst out riding, I met my new neighbour who Introduced himself and proceeded to point out 3 blue roan coloured cows from an assortment of multi coloured suckler cows saying "the rest are all right but look out for them!"
The cows did not have calves at foot at the time.
Certainly had anyone been attacked if they were alive to do so, they could have claimed on his public liability insurance, but they would have first had to prove that the cow which had attacked them had "previous".
Personally I doubt thatanyone being attacked (or trying to save their dog/s would have time to read the ear tag.
Yes, Scotland has a "right to roam " but hand in hand with that is the "Countryside Code " which stron

Others only like when they can latch on to the negative bits....they don't comment at any other time

That's my opinion

Only just seen this post , by being quoted in the previous post, I'm not out to annoy anyone, and as to Ian I like to think I know him a bit better than you and was only trying to advise on what I know.
On your situation with your ex friend, we hadn't had all the facts and on what you had posted it appeared that all your mate had done was commit the cardinal sin of staying in bed till 11 o clock whilst on holiday and used a drop of water which he could have put back for you, if you wanted to go walking at some god forsaken hour , you could have gone on your own leaving your mate in bed.
Was that so difficult?
Ok so now you have added to the actual situation, which puts a different light on it but it still seems a bit excessive if you were true friends.
If you didn't want anyone to comment on it, why put it.

Strongly advises against entering fields containing livestock of any sort.
Farmers have the right to graze "beef"cows and bulls at liberty on their land.
Dogowners enter at their peril and if charged /attacked are advised to release their dogs to make their own escape and lessen the chances of themselves being trampled to death.

Val there's not really that much of a comparison here.

The 80% was the ticket sales man's words at the rock not any actual statistics on animal issues.

But if I was crossing a field of cows I'd be steering well away from the cows and I'm confident I'd be able to move quicker than them to get out the field if they were coming towards me

On the rock on the other hand monkeys move fast...despite me attempting to keep the dogs well away from them they came from all directions quickly and surrounded us.

Nothing like walking through a cow field.

Sod it

I really wish sometimes Jim would introduce a block button so you could simply avoid certain people.
It would save so much aggro in the long run ...But I don't really need the added grief so I'm giving up.

That's my opinion
Have followed your posts from the outset. Generally I have found them to be informative, and you do take great pictures. I don’t feel it’s necessay to comment on every post you make. At times you are very opinionated and like to have the last word, so I will say no more.

You always have the ignore button. If you dont want to see someone's posts, just ignore them

Sorry, not being able tech savvy, I was actually referring to the end of your response to chaser comment. You replied about hiking/walking through fields of livestock in Scotland .
I think your experience on "the Rock " was undoubtedly scary, wild animals are /can be aggressive. I'm very glad none of you were hurt. However having had a life time experience with animals of all types (including a pet monkey ), I too
