Tam &Toby do Europe ...Take two

I don't know about monkeys but I do know a 5 stone Chimp in a rage is far stronger than any human..BUSBY.

Yes, chimps can be nasty little buggers. There's no way I'd confront a chip if it were trashing my room - I'd leave him to it! :ROFLMAO:

Think I read it in Guiness Book of Records..something about a female Chimp in a strip and they let her grab a dynometer through the bars and with one arm she recorded something like 550 lbs..BUSBY.

Not too far off what I recorded then. We should start moving to get this fight set up.

Half my winnings to a charity off choice from readers of this thread, can't say fairer than that.

So,.... how’s the weather there Tam ? Is the heatwave there yet..?

Are you volunteering to fight the Chimp then?? BUSBY.

Tams not online and he's in Spain so I'm guessing it's warm, sunny and he's seen a church or something. Maybe a statue or 2.

Let's get back to organising this ape v human fight. I'll go him/her with one hand tied behind my back. What about weapons?

It's either that or we weigh up the pros and cons of metric and imperial.

How's about we get back to enjoying Tam's wonderful descriptions of his holiday, for heaven's sake????

Yeh , it was getting like easterners for awhile & i flatly refuse to watch that crap lol ?

Perhaps we should put a forum warning on all posts

WARNING some people’s posts may mess with your feng shui

I'm also extremely fed up with those very opinionated and judgemental comments about what Tam does. Everyone is entitled to an opinion but it's so easy to take the moral high ground or the 'but I was only joking' cop out. Give us all a break and let us just enjoy Tam being Tam. Vent your opinions on your own threads.

Long time lurker on this thread , first time poster, hello all.
I’ve read Tam’s threads from last year to this and find them really enjoyable. He appears a very open individual who wears his heart on his sleeve , brave in a forum situation.

The last few pages have been a bit negative, which is a shame, as i’m sure he is feeling a bit down with the situation he has found himself in recently.
It might not do any harm to bare in mind that he is on his own, with only his thoughts and two cheeky pups for company really.

Most of his social interactions seem to be via this forum. He has a long time to mull over perceived negative opinions of him or his actions and fall down a rabbit hole with his own thoughts.
I get the impression the forum is a lifeline in what could be considered a fairly lonely lifestyle.

Anyway keep posting Tam cause i’m using you as a training manual for planning my own travels in a couple of years.

An excellent first post and well delivered.

As a solo traveller I will say that the loneliness is the biggest problem but in many respects you learn to live around it. The negativity is totally unnecessary as I alluded to in my post a couple of pages ago, we all have our own journey through life and it is not for anyone to judge or criticise our choices.

In many respects travelling alone takes both discipline and strength - and I believe Tam has that. All that's needed (and I speak personally here) is a like minded and willing female companion ?

I'm very much looking forward to where's he's been, what he's doing and where he's off to next. I don't know Tam, but I like him ?

I fear we may have lost Tam for sometime but hope not forever . Unfortunately some of the remarks I think were not kind and is easy to sit in an armchair making them but to be at the receiving end is not so easy . As said to say only joking does not wash . I have noticed for sometime a creeping unkind feel from certain quarters creeping in which was never present before . However there are many who offer helpful and informative posts interdispersed with lighthearted banter . Just my observation which others may disagree

Tam we need doggy photos , empty Spanish hilltop towns and selfies of a handsome bloke with tats!!?

When you are ready of course , hugs for you in the meantime!!

He should be able to manage 2 out of 3 ...... :D2:D2:D2

Come on Tam, the suspense is getting too much now.

Spent 5 days in marbella and headed to ronda this morning with a quick lunch stop and walk around Smurf town aka juzcar.

You've heard of painting the town red? Well this town painted everywhere blue for the filming if the Smurf movie and then decided to keep it like that for tourists.....Not sure it's working as I was the only one there but it's different I Guess.

I'm now parked up at ronda ....it's melting and around 30° it hit 34° one or 2 days in marbella but I had a nice spot under some trees so it had kept the van cool.

No such luck here and it's uncomfortable but waiting till it cools down a bit before walking in to town with dogs.

The problem inland is no water to take them swimming in etc so not sure how many days I'll suffer before high tailing it back to the coast.
I plan to spend another month in Spain and then head in to the Algarve start of August.
I plan to do more of the inland border area of Portugal this year after maybe 3 or 4 weeks in Algarve area , I've also a property to view in Portugal....Well it's a large bit of land with water that's been used as an off grid living location previously...( thinking of doing similar...perhaps a small aire)

Nothing really to post regarding marbella , nice beaches. Motor home friendly for parking etc but that's about it ( was actually parked San Pedro but walked in and out to marbella daily )

Great to see you back with your photos, Tam. Because of family illness, I haven't been out travelling so I appreciate visiting places through your thread.

Hi Tam, good to see the dogs again and you of course :giggle:.
It's been even hotter here, certainly upper 30'so, i' ve even heard folk talking of 42°.
The only thing one can do is paddle and swim the dogs, and fortunately we still have plenty of water in the lake.
I had bit of a scare this afternoon with Lass my crazy collie.
Without going into great detail,I noticed she was coughing /choking and decidedly miserable.
On investigation I believe I could feel a stick stuck in the back of her mouth /throat.
I could barely touch it and couldn't get it out.
I was afraid of damaging her, .so as it was 1:20 pm I lifted her into the back of the car and drove like something demented to the vet .
Lass didn't utter a sound during the drive, (she usually yips and sqeaks for at least the first two or three miles). We arrived as the vet was about to leave on a call -out to a horse.
He listened to my story, peered into her mouth but couldn't see anything. On further examination I insisted I could still just touch it, though it was further back in her throat by now.
So poor Lass was put on the examination table and given a general anesthetic with the hope it would relax her jaw muscles. Once she was out for the count her jaws were winched open, her tongue pulled forward with forceps and the vet again inserted his fingers down her throat.
He declared there was no foreign object, though massaging her throat did induce wretching. After feeling once again myself I had to agree with him, there was no longer anything there.
Lass was left to regain consciousness, I was instructed to go and do some people watching and the vet belatedly visited his equine client.
At 5 pm I collected a still very groggy Lass, once lifted into the back of the car she propped herself in a sitting position in the corner and travelled home in total silence. Now 2+ hours later she hasn't. moved from her bed, she has declined a drink, ignored the over enthusiastic greeting from the puppy and looks thoroughly miserable.
I guess I can only watch her and be prepared to drive her into the veterinary centre in Granada if she becomes distressed .
I can only assume that the "stick " has been swallowed /pushed down her throat.
To me (over anxious, doting owner) it felt approximately 2.5 inches long and nearly the thickness of my little finger .
Will it work through her system? will it get stuck? will it cause a blockage ? will the gastric juices dissolve it?
I forsee a sleepless night.

I've been racking my brains as to who you remind me of Tam and I've got it!

I doubt you've heard of him but he's a renowned character in Berlin. And an equally interesting character (albeit in a different way!) Picture to follow if I can work out how to do it..
