Tam &Toby do Europe ...Take two

Perhaps he thought you were a free holiday and would be like living in an apartment.

How wrong could he be especially when you now have the responsibility of two dogs.

Maybe you could say sorry we argued but don’t let us lose touch. At least you could still chat to him if you met him in the street.

If he wants to visit again let him stay in a hotel and you can visit him maybe for an evening.
Sorry to hear that - hope it's just the stress of living in a confined space that blew up & that you can resolve it.
Sadly I think the friendship has gone , you could cut the atmosphere in here with a knife. There's hardly been a dozen words exchanged since he finally got out of bed at 11.15

On route to Malaga now but I've stopped at fuengirola so i can have some lunch.

He said quite a few hurtful things yesterday and as we hadn't even been drinking you couldn't put it down to that.
I decided to just not retaliate as putting him down isn't going to make me feel any better but I just feel a little taken for granted and insult and injury over and above that.

It cost him £100 for return flights to here, I've put him up, I've fed him I even bought the tickets for the rock and paid for lunch at a beach bar the other day...none of that bothers me until he acts like a spoiled brat and complains.

Doesn't like beaches, has no interest in sightseeing etc but wants entertained 24/7 or he's complaining. Tired of telling him about the mess water bloody everywhere, doesn't make an offer to help in any way ...I've practically felt like his mother the last 3 days cooking, cleaning doing the washing up etc etc etc.

Only then to be called names etc .....sod that his flights at 7 and it can't come soon enough.

And to add to that my rear brakes are now playing up so I'm just not in the mood

It's sad that things ended as they did for you.

I always think that one of the main requirements when in a motorhome is that you get along well with whoever it is that your sharing your travels with. Nothing like being in close proximity to someone for any length of time for the differences to surface.

It is not always the 'confined space' aspect.

A mate that I had done flying training with and had sailed together several times chartering then came with me on my boat.

We had met a couple of girls earlier in the evening then we two went to eat. On returning to the boat we found them sitting next to it on a bench, invited them aboard. He fancied one of them but she made a bee-line for me, so we ended up in my cabin. Half an hour later he jumped ship without a word, taxi to airport and away. I found his behaviour childish and could have overlooked it but he continued the frostiness to this day. Not the behaviour one expects from an airline Captain.

I have been lucky with my girlfriends on my boat and with Basia in the MH. No problems with any, although Basia was a bit nervous on the boat at first, because we had to up anchor the first night of a cruise and set out to sea in the night - I did not have time to explain why it was safer, especially since I knew the waters very well and knew the port where we were headed and even when the hydrofoil would arrive at 0650.

Basia has really fitted in to MH life very well - must be her Boy Scout trainng - 5 of them came for a BBQ last week.

Tam, I would just be thankful he has gone - nobody needs attitudes like that in a MH, or boat.

Now back to your touring which you were doing well before you were interrupted. Where next?

Geoff

Not gone yet I'm parked outside a parts place in Malaga waiting for them to reopen at 4pm ...I need to drop him at airport around 5pm so he's sat in the van and I'm out with the dogs

I would have got shot of him at the airport this morning and let him sit there and contemplate on his behaviour.

I had to drive here from down near Gibraltar, back brakes started grinding on route ....I had checked the pads at gus-lopez place back in jan/Feb and we reckoned there was a good 5000 miles left so I hadn't done them. But I've probably done 4000 miles since then and they now need done urgently. I thought I'd just swing by and pick them up on route to airport but of course I forgot about lunch closure ...and I'd rather drive as little as possible till I do them so I'll get them at 4 hopefully...drop him off at airport and go park at torremolinos again for the night and I'll fit pads later or in the morning.

He's not happy as he wants dropped off now so it's his choice he can get a taxi if he wants but I'm not driving to airport and back to here before 4pm

Sorry to hear about your problems Tam last thing you need, at least tonight you can get back to enjoying yourself.
I think you should have dropped him at Gib airport & left him to it.

I suppose it's a "must see" but not for me. Like any wild animal that lives in close contact with humans and constantly fed tidbits, they lose all respect (read fear), know no boundaries and if not fed become very demanding and angry.
I would also imagine the older animals (parents) would be very protective of the young, and very aggressive toward anything they saw as predators (dogs). One only need watch a 'wildlife 'documentary' to witness this behaviour.
Much as I hate to say "I told you so", I did endeavour to warn you last year but was poo pooed by others on here.
One only has to be aware of the number of serious /fatal accidents caused by donestic/farm animals to be aware of the potential dangers.
Anyway you've been there, done that, im

Wouldn't go, on principle. The same as we wouldn't go up Uluru, on principle because the Aborigines don't like it!

There are enough places to visit that don't upset anyone ...

Blimey Tam, I haven't seen all this on FB!

You've done more than is necessary for a "mutual" friendship.

Feel for you. We're heading for our "nemesis" Norway!!! The last two trips have cost us!

sounds to me like you have been on your own too long.
you are getting into a right old grump.

Nothing about being on your own too long, but a lot about being taken advantage of!

Anyway he's dropped at the airport I have my brake pads and I'm now sat along the beach front at torremolinos

Its just aswell I like it here I've lost count how many times I've been here now
You can get back to being yourself again with Jade and Milo. Chalk it down to experience and move on, after all there's nowt so queer as folk!

Tam did not book or suggest his flight home.

Jack could have stayed and tried to patch things up.
How do you all know this , as far as I know we only have tams side of the story unless you all have some knowledge that I don't, not saying it's not as tam says but you all seem to come down on one side without the full details.
It happens a lot on here , sometimes I think I'm on a different forum.

Feel sorry for Tam. I would struggle sharing my van with a friend no matter how well you know them. However as we all know there are two sides to any dispute.

Yup, but it’s Tam’s thread and he’s our online buddy so we support him ... rules of the game ??
