Tam &Toby do Europe ...Take two

What a wimp, it's only a scratch.:)
It ain't a scratch there's a lump of skin removed and trust me I can't put my weight on my foot without it feeling like needles being stabbed in it. Even pressing the bloody accelerator is sore

Put a corn plaster round it or in abscence of same cut some thick padding(lint/cotton wool) with a hole in it size of the 'deep wound' and then a plaster over it. Wear a sock to stop it rubbing and peeling off.

Best thing is to paddle in the sea with it -salt water is cleansing and healing. (y)
Now are you going to tell us why you are blaming poor little Jade - you know I'll disagree with you anyway!:)

Yes I've had it In the sea the problem is getting from the sea back to somewhere dry to put a shoe on without getting it full of sand.

It was jades fault as after their walk yesterday where both had been scavenging on the beach Milo threw up everywhere last night , so this morning when out jade was trying to eat something on the beach and wouldn't drop it ....I ran after her to get it from her and my sandal dug in and fell off and I cut my foot on a stone.

She's in the bad books

I've only managed to walk 7km today because of it and I'm trying to lose my belly

That's when your crocs would be sensible! And you can't blame Jade for her lousy start in life or your lack of training skills.
How is she responsible for Milo throwing up everywhere? Why isn't he trained to "leave it "
Are they all still banished from the bed? I do hope so! !

Val trust me unless I kept them both on the lead at all times they will never stop scavenging they prefer that than any amount of treats. They won't leave anything unless within my reach if off the lead they simply run off with it till they've devoured it.

They haven't been on the bed since I said it last week.

The scavenging they will always do but I'm tired of them throwing it up afterwards

Well you get some brownie points for keeping them off the bed :)
I will agree that probably Jade could not be prevented from scavenging but there was no reason for Milo to begin.
I will however admit it would have probably been a tough one for you as a novice dog keeper plus Jade's misguiding influence. I suspect now it is something you are going to have to live with :sneaky: hard luck.
Ps. I'm afraid the scavenging and throwing up will tend to go together

It sometimes is nature's way of getting rid of toxic substanceso, maybe one day you might come to look on it as a blessing. o_O

Sorry for hijacking Tam but at least it's not metric v imperial....

@Val 2 dogs I'm still struggling with getting the ball back. I tried 2 balls any more advice.

For anyone who likes a good game of fetch, I bought a dog ball catapult thing from Ebay. Great fun, gets the dug running miles and only about 12 quid.

@monzer without knowing you or the dog, it is a job to be too categorically.
The problem with fetching a ball is that there is very little connection between you and the dog.
He/she is quite happy and fulfilled playing their own game, there is almost no connection between the two of you. As soon as they have done what you want, you want them to do it over and over again and now YOU have a new toy, you want them to work even harder and go still further away!
You would be better throwing a tug toy of some description ( maybe a knotted rope 'ball' with a loop handle), so when it is retrieved, you and the dog interact together in a vigorous game of tug ,then when you are ready command "stop"/"enough" or some such, give the dog and 'high value' treat such as a five p size piece of cooked liver or sausage in ex change for the tug toy. Then one again repeat. You have to make the returning of the toy to you exciting and desirable fun.
You must really enter into the spirit of it, dance about like a B . ..idiot, whoop and holler, it's supposed to be a fun game between the TWO of you.
I get the feeling that if you could operate the catapult with a remote control you would be sat in a recliner with a G+T while the dog ran his legs off.o_O

You get the dog ball catapults from b&m stores for £1.50 Lol

I've got 2 of them :p

P.s the two balls or 2 sticks trick works with mine ...I throw one jade fetches Milo follows she runs back I throw the other ..she drops it and chasers the second one

You get at least 10 extra brownie points for saying that Tam ( and another 10 if it's true ):D(y)

Of course it's true

Milo doesn't fetch he just likes the chase

Jade does the fetching but doesn't like to give it back ....But will chase whatever I throw.

Mostly bamboo off the beach

PS. Have you incorporated the command "drop" into the game yet.
Though officially the item should be delivered into your hand (a gun dog thing, for retrieving game) I am quite happy for mine to just drop or spit out the object .
Tam, you could possibly use this behaviour to shape Jade into dropping filth when she's scavenging.

I've never used drop ...I opted for "ta" while holding out my hand...she will often put in my hand but not let go ...So I just throw another and she drops it

But scavenging she knows I'm going to tell her to leave it so she runs away with it where I can't get her

Bamboo is ok, but Lass is inclined to chew or mouth it a bit before giving it up and I am always concerned about it splintering in her mouth. She has also on a couple of occasions got a short length of stick wedged across the roof of her mouth between her teeth.
Around the lake here there is plenty non bamboo drift wood to be found so I prefer her to fetch that.

At the risk of boring some folk - when she brings it to your hand but doesn't want to let it go, - make a big show with your second stick -make it more interesting and exciting, don't just throw it, maybe get Milo dancing about a bit, like he's going to get it.
Don't throw the second one til she's given up the first, then throw immediately.

Please be careful throwing sticks Eddie's dad had a beautiful Alsation (Flash) one day as he did he threw a stick for her she jumped to catch it went in her throat and killed her it was horrible
I'll never forget it.

Not all dogs want to retrieve. We used to have Springers, who would beg you to throw things for them so they could bring them back.
We now have Dallies, who look at you and say, 'You threw it, you bring it back!' :D2

What a horrible thing to happen....to be honest though when I throw a stick for jade it's usually hit the ground before she leaves my side. She's never caught one still moving

wedged across the roof of her mouth between her
My Greyhound used to do that with dental chews. I always enjoyed the sight of him trying to get a back foot in his mouth (just before I offered to help of course) :D
