Tam &Toby do Europe ...Take two

Maybe a bit late but arriving at Barcelona yesterday I noticed a Grimaldi Lines ferry. I checked the price from Italy to Barca - about £200 one way for MH - not bad for a 24 hour trip

Sorry I'm being thick Tam, geography was never my strong point - what country is Susa in? and what is /was the circular "Bull ring" for?
Ancient buildings may be your thing, but beautiful scenery certainly floats my boat. Once again, thanks Tam.
It's in Italy quite close to the border of France , it's an old town lots of Roman buildings , that was an ampiteater

I checked a few online last week but with a cabin added it was around £300 So I decided against it.

Google maps shows it closed, col du Mont Cenis is one of the highest passes in the Alps, might still be blocked by snow.

A few pics from yesterday ....I headed west from torino planning to enter France in the alps ...I'd spotted a place on park4night by a lake nesstled in the mountains so I headed for there. Sadly the road is barricaded just after you cross In to France...a sign about 20 miles before that would have been helpful but I've discovered the french and Italians don't seem to think about that so I have to go back and south to get out of Italy.

Here's the pics I took and a couple of screenshots of where I was heading and where I ended up staying the night near this Abbey...which was unfortunately closed.

It closes seasonally, only open from the 15th of May till the 31st of October.

Agree @keades the Atlantic coast of Portugal is great. But start in the SW,via the Algarve,to Cape St Vincent, then head north.
@JJ says the the Algarve isn’t real Portugal. Well,it is,but it’s mainly for sun seekers who like the climate, beaches, surfing, and short flight time from U.K. Oh,and that most folk you are likely to meet speak English
But you need to be aware that they are tightening up on wild camping in the Algarve at the moment, maybe easier a bit further north.
Enjoy!

Aye I know I did that last year lol

If you want the real Portugal, drive down through the middle, keep away from the coast. Have you done the Atlantic coast along the top of Spain. Beautiful scenery?

Yeah I done the top of spain last year too.
I pretty much followed the coast with the occasional trip inland.

To be honest I love the coast ..beaches are probably my favourite locations so I doubt I will ever be avoiding them.
I never like being away from the coast for too long

Edit

But I do plan to do more inland this time also as I didn't do any of the border areas between Spain and Portugal last year.

I want to do it sometime, lots of places to wild it round the Lac.
Yes that's what I planned to do as there's an old fort there too ...looked nice but if road isn't open for another 2 weeks it's no good.

But I've found another old fort not far from here I plan to explore tomorrow

Scotland has some lovely beaches but not much fun with winter woollies & wellies in August. :D

But hopefully if you need winter woollies and wellies you don't have midges! You can't have it all ways

It's surprising in Scotland sometimes. My usual time for going north was always late April and late September, I've been swimming in the sea at durness in early October and it's been comfortable.
Sometimes the weather in Scotland can surprise you..but generally the summer months are wet

I take it you are heacding back to Spain?

Yeah I think so ...And will do some more of Portugal too I think but slower and spending more time in one place.
Ultimately I'm still thinking about relocating to Spain permanently and therefore I'd like to find places I'd perhaos want to live and see what work opportunities there may be.
Possibly Portugal.

Got here today......:sun: :D

Don't know if it's all of Spain, but holidays and shops are closed Monday, Wednesday, and Friday in the Valencia / Alicante regions. (y) Bob.
