Tam n pups winter trip 2022

Disability doesn't just mean those who have physical walking issues, ie needing a wheelchair, it could simply be someone who can walk but only a very short distance and/or have hidden disabilities.
I know that ...these days it can be someone who gets headaches lol . Something that annoys me with disabled bays. And dinnae start me on parent and child bays either lol.

Whats to stop you using parent and child bays with your mother.
I've nearly had to before as couldn't get her in a disabled bay for all the non physically disabled folk who can't walk the length of themselves.

My 2nd husband was a lovely clint eastwood look alike, looked so for and healthy, but only had 25% of his heart working, looks can be deceptive. There are though folk i know who use the spacws with the blue card when the person entitled to use it is at home. You need a fair bit of room to get a childs car seatout the car or even a walking toddler out, think of the avoided supermarket dings, they don't need to be so close to the store though.

I don't have a problem with parent & child spots where they are so long as they are used correctly. If there's a parent etc, especially on their own, with a baby/toddler in a seat which they have to take out and place in a trolley then go to the shop then yes they can walk from further away however in cold and/or bad weather it's far from ideal to be dragging a baby from a distance away to the shop - we don't like it and a baby would like it even less.

What does annoy me is those with older kids who can easily walk from further away, eg 10+, who still use the bays when they can see that they are heavily used already. What makes this even more annoying is when the 'little darlings' don't want to go in the shop with the parent and instead stay in the car playing on the ruddy phones! There should be a maximum age for the spaces.

There is I believe and its 12yr old

It's a joke , when I were a kid we rarely had a car , my mum walked 3 of us herself 2 miles to the town or supermarket and we carried the shopping back....in all weathers

Kids and mums these days don't know they are born as mum says

Anyway , left cobh this morning ,drove to Middleton as there was a motorhome service point here thinking it would be a nice easy waterfill. How wrong was I lol , the service area is right at the entrance to the carpark so to stop there you block all the traffic , add to that they've found a tap that's unique to everywhere else in the world and none of my 7 different adaptors fitted on it . So I had to park across the street and ferry watering cans back and forth .

No parking bays big enough either so I'm now parked by a school having lunch. I think lismore will be the next stop as looks a nice castle , then a few others on route from there to Cashel. Nice dry day today with scattered sunny spells

Unfortunately there isn't a 'legal' rule, someone is considered to be a child up to 18 (minimum 16) and whilst some places use 'up to 12' as the limit, other places don't, whilst some restrict it even more to only include babies & toddlers.

I don't believe there is any legality regarding parent and child spaces. It's just trusted that people won't abuse them. Sadly, that trust is obused by many people. As is often often case.

Only got to look at them, scruffy hair, stained clothes, haggard looks, yep they got kids😁😁
Not the mums I see. They have hair extensions, magnificent eyebrows, false eyelashes, nails and usually a designer handbag in one hand and a mobile phone in the other. Yep, I'm jealous😄

Gina.

What gets me is I have to put special badge up to say “ look at me I’m disabled” whereas mothers don’t have to put up a badge saying I’ve got kids….😎
But then they have no special right to park in their places but you do.....fortunately

It isn't always obvious that some people are classed as disabled because their disability is hidden, hence the need for a badge to show they are 'legitimate' users of the spot, it would be very easy to see that those using the mother & child have got squawking brats with them ... unless they've stuffed them in their massive designer bags. :giggle:

He has a point though doesn't he. He has to prove his entitlement, but parents don't

Gina.
Not really as parents have no entitlement.

Tam you need to do Scandinavia we have done it twice (2017, 2019) for 3 months each time. Norway is my favourite place, you would love it, no problems wild camping, scenery stunning and if you budget correctly and don’t eat out it’s not as expensive as you think
Don't think that's such a good idea, we've done Norway twice, once in 2019 for 5 weeks and this year for 8 weeks.
In 2019 went June / July weather was pants, lot of rain and quite expensive for most everything.
This year we went July / August /September, weather was bloody awful day after day of solid rain followed by one or two really pleasant, then back to rain, cost of living very expensive, just everyday provisions not luxuries, if you do choose to eat out don't order a beer it will cost you around €12, and fuel, whilst most all Europe was just under €2 per litre it averaged the equivalent of €2.30 to €2.60.
Given the very poor weather we were forced to used quite a lot of camp sites (no solar) at around €30 a night, although as you say wild camping is no problem whatsoever, the people are really friendly and most speak very good English.
Lots of tunnels, toll roads and internal ferries.
Having said that it is a wonderful place to visit, scenery to die for, but lots of rain.

We were lucky, summer of 2019 We did Denmark, Sweden Norway & Finland then hopped across on the ferry and did Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania & Poland and back into Germany via Slovakia and Czech Republic and could count the days on 1 hand we had rain and even then it was only occasional showers every photo I have it's sunny.... must be luck of the Irish! (Plenty of rain left behind at home though) 😂

Right now you've all finished yaking amongst yerselfs . Take yer seats and face the blackboard.

This is lismore
