Felt like it in a 9 metre 5 ton motorhome!Chris Rea, Road to Hell, love it
Gina.
Well done to your Mrs for keeping quiet. I would have been cursing the whole way the air would have been blueFelt like it in a 9 metre 5 ton motorhome!
Ah I see. I thought I had missed something.Been there loads but not with the van .
That's what kicked off this adventure. I was offered work in gran Canaria where I've been several times. I sold up to go move there , and then I decided rather than fly out I'd buy a van and drive there , cheaper than renting an apartment in maspolamas. In the end I never got there with the van but in the few months from leaving Scotland and heading down through Spain the place I'd been offered work went out of business anyway so it may well have been fate.
5 years later and here I am
That was in 2017 , now with brexit probably won't ever happen, older now anyway things have changed
Lol ...you'd need to be very very brave . That needs a new shell lolfound you another van tam but this one needs a bit more work ebay 204149734269
Weather's shiteBraved the weather for a second walk around and still only managed 8000 steps which is only 6km ...need some dry weather.
Anyway I took some more pics of the deck of card houses....that is one very steep street ..

I don't normally edit my pics but I've given these a little tweak to try and offset the miserable grey day . But subtle
Even walking down it in the rain is sketchy ...and it's corrugated to try and stop that. Parking on it looks fun too as the houses aren't much wider than the length of an average car , so one car per household , I watched a woman parallel parking lol and the clutch was stinkingThose houses are amazing! Bet that street is fun and games on a frosty day.
The disabled bay outside one of them did make me chuckle…Even walking down it in the rain is sketchy ...and it's corrugated to try and stop that. Can you imagine trying to control a manual wheelchair down that street, fecking nightmare. The disabled bay outside one of them did make me chuckle…
Going down is fine, it’s the getting back up that’s the problem…Can you imagine trying to control a manual wheelchair down that street, fecking nightmare.
Gina.
I suppose you could free wheel down if you had the courage, like I would on my bikeGoing down is fine, it’s the getting back up that’s the problem…
Getting from a car to the front door looks like it is challenging for an able let alone someone that has a walking problem…
I’ve got the house number and will phone the dss fraud line….
I've found a photo. It was 2009. The warehouse was right next to the Port of Cork and when we woke up next morning there was a great big ferry parked alongside us! I believe it's where the ferries for Roscoff and Santander go from. Perhaps you should have booked your ferry from there, Tam.I have fond memories of wildcamping just outside Cobh. We were struggling to find a quiet spot late on a Friday afternoon when I spotted a track leading into a wheat field. I was just getting out of the cab to go and ask at the nearby farmhouse if it would be OK to stay for the night when a very flashy Mercedes pulled up and a big man in a suit approached. He didn’t look like a farmer. He asked what we were doing so I told him and then he said, “you don’t want to be staying here. Follow me. I’ll take you to my place”.
Well, I am so trusting I just followed him for about five miles and he turned into a big industrial yard with a huge warehouse surrounded by a razor wire fence. “This is where you should stay.” He insisted. “It’s not attractive but it’s safe. You need somewhere safe in Cobh. There’s an EHU and a toilet with shower and when you want to leave the automatic gates will open. No one will bother you on the weekend.”
The warehouse was the size of an aircraft hangar and had no signage to indicate the name of the company. I was curious to know what was inside. Was it drugs? Stolen cars? Guns? The smart man in the Mercedes could have been the head of a cartel for all I knew. It was like a scene from Breaking Bad. He expressed no interest in getting to know anything about us and didn’t have much in the way of conversation, but just as he was about to drive away and leave us locked in the compound he wound the window down and said, “ in case you’re wondering, the warehouse is full of woodchip pellets.”
What an anti climax! But I’ll never forget it.
Aye and it's the end one , I wondered if they actually lived in the end house or if it was the easiest parking. But none of the doorways look disabled friendlyThe disabled bay outside one of them did make me chuckle…
Disability doesn't just mean those who have physical walking issues, ie needing a wheelchair, it could simply be someone who can walk but only a very short distance and/or have hidden disabilities.Aye and it's the end one , I wondered if they actually lived in the end house or if it was the easiest parking. But none of the doorways look disabled friendly
All the ferries I looked at from here for end of November both to France and Spain had either no dog cabins or didn't take pets. That's why I'm going back to UK then crossing to France. If I could have gone from here direct to Spain I'd have done that to save some distance but I tried to book way back in June and nothing available unfortunatelyI've found a photo. It was 2009. BTW, I may be a FLT but I gave the Cartel leader a New Zealand tea towel in appreciation.
