Tam n pups winter trip 2022

We've got lovely blue skies here in Spain.

And also a not so lovely RED STOP light and a red oil can on the dash.

Hopefully just about to leave after repair 🤞🤞🤞🤞

Hmmm not good, luckily close to the garage then👍

Yes, back there now. They don't know what to do 😡.

Anyway, thread drift. I only posted the blue sky after we thought we were on our way!

Clonakilty was quite a nice wee town , had it not been driech and rainy when we had a walk around this morning I'd have taken a few pics but it was a rotten morning , we headed from there to inchydonay beach which given the weather probably wasn't a good idea but since when have I had good ideas eh.

So we parked up down there and headed out for another walk so the dogs could have a run around .....that big arse Ella buggered off again in to the dunes and as it then started lashing it down I gave up and left the bugger and jade milo and I went back to the van , sat seething having a coffee and a Christmas mince pie while I dried off a bit , about 30 minutes later the big swine came wandering back to the van completely dripping wet , ignored my calls to come In and wandered off again so again I left her too it ... sun came out so I got jade and milo out and we found the ratbag further along the beach in the bushes , she got a ticking off and told she better have enjoyed her bit freedom as that's it she ain't getting off the leash again till she's 5 ....damm dogs going to be the death of me . Anyway we had lunch and then headed back to clonakilty to do some shopping, went the wrong way up a one way road and had to do an impressive 15 point turn much to the annoyance of the locals I held up but hey ho such is life. After we picked up the shopping I headed to another beach just 9 miles away at dunworly .... and we are gonna stay here tonight. Its a little windy but it's not blowing us about so hopefully be fine , forecast Says the wind is to bugger off about 18.30 so should be fine. We are nearly at the end of the wild Atlantic way now as the next stop will likely be kinsale and that's where it ends. Weather has been better today , wet start and a few showers here and there but it's been fairly sunny and dry since lunchtime.

These are the pics from inchydonay ....I'll upload the few from dunworly in a wee while

See you kept the rogue runner on the leash
Aye that was after her earlier escapades, she won't be getting off now for a while till she learns to stop buggering off in to the dunes. She's not as bad in woods etc or a park she usually comes back no problem but I think on the beach she just reverts back to how she was when I found her and I'm not sure if that will ever change. Jade and milo enjoy running along the waterline and the sand but ela just immediately goes for the dunes and goes chasing rabbits and birds etc and you just can't see her when she's In all the long grass etc...won't listen to a word so for now she isn't getting off the lead at beaches as while she's making her way back to the van which is good she has zero road sense and I can't risk her being hit with a car etc.

Here's the dunworly pics it's a beautiful spot so I really hope the wind does bugger off like its meant to or at least doesn't get any worse . At the minute it's just noisy but not moving the van .

Are you heading inland after Kinsale Tam? If you like castles etc There's a good few inland some of note are Cashel (the rock) Kilkenny is another lovely town with a nice castle and various medieval buildings but before you head inland Cobh (pronounced cove) is a nice wee town with lots of Titanic history as it was the very last piece of dry land it stopped at before the sinking, north of Cobh & Cork City is Blarney Castle and on to Mitchelstown (great for cheese) I would say every town between Cork & Dublin has some type of castles etc

It was a pleasure to meet up yesterday in Killarney National Park, during quite a pleasant break in the weather. I hope that the lunch went some way to counter-balance all the cranks and head-bangers that you have met along the way!:giggle:

You're right.....you did talk loads !!...but always interesting and amusing. A good conversationalist I'd say, which is good, as I often can't find more than two words to put together, unless of course I hit on a "hot topic' or one of my enthusiasms, in which case you could get an unwanted earful or two!!
Seriously, it was fun to meet yourself and the dogs and I did get my spake in sideways too. Maybe we meet again somewhere down the road, if I ever get on the road!
The weather has taken a turn for the better so you should have a good time down the Beara peninsula. There is a very interesting Tibetan Buddhist centre in a dramatic setting over the ocean on this side of Castletown. The access road is narrow & it might be busy at the weekend, but might be worth a look.
As I said to yourself, I think you and the other people on fun (Lenny et al.) are like public service broadcasters for consumers like myself, with loads of great photos, information and entertainment.
Wishing you a great and enjoyable onward trip!
Kilroy

So it's been a lovely dry sunny day today ( until now ) and dare I say it , was even warm for November. I think it said 16° earlier.

So we had a walk this morning at dunworly along to a nice sandy bay , we then visited the Abbey at timoleague , drove out to old head , well as far as we could as the actual head is owned by a golf club and you're not allowed past the gate at the old ruins, we had lunch there then headed to kinsale , had another wee walk at kinsale and will stop over here tonight. There's a few Brit motorhomes around here but not seen any of the owners .

My Google timeline is fairly filling up ...but annoyingly it's missed montenegro, Albania, Bulgaria, Romania chezchia and a good chance of Eastern Germany and the Middle bit of France. At some point I want to do the Scandinavian countries and Poland Estonia etc ...but summertime for those.

We are now currently parked in the docks area of Cork City. Trying to decide if I feel safe leaving the van here to have a walk in to town or not , its actually amazingly quiet for an industrial area but very run down at this part and not sure. Not a lot of parking choices around though for vans of this size . Still scouring the apps lol

So cork is ....well its just another big busy city . We had a walk around earlier and it's certainly bustling , if shopping is your thing it would be well worth a visit . Weather is crap , windy and wet , showers on and off . The spot I'm parked up at is not pretty but it's quiet and out the way so just going to stay here tonight , refuelled and stocked up , I do want to top up lpg here in the morning too as its cheaper around here than I've seen in the limited places so far . Don't think I'll have used much mind you but it's getting colder so will be using heating soon so it's best to top up now.

No pics today sadly as not much worth taking photos of to be honest.

Canary islands. I missed that adventure.

Canary islands. I missed that adventure.
Been there loads but not with the van .

That's what kicked off this adventure. I was offered work in gran Canaria where I've been several times. I sold up to go move there , and then I decided rather than fly out I'd buy a van and drive there , cheaper than renting an apartment in maspolamas. In the end I never got there with the van but in the few months from leaving Scotland and heading down through Spain the place I'd been offered work went out of business anyway so it may well have been fate.

5 years later and here I am

That was in 2017 , now with brexit probably won't ever happen, older now anyway things have changed
