It's a roadside spot this but decided just to stay here overnight tonight and then there's a few forts and a castle I want to see just outside this town tomorrow

See you went to/through killorglin tam. Just as well it was not 'puck fair' where they appoint a wild goat as king for the week. Horse and cattle markets in the streets. What a time they have (or used to when I went). Expect it's all been toned down a bit with animal welfare and health and safty but no doubt the drinking is as heavy as it was.

Crazy winds and rain again last night and I thought this spot would have been sheltered, now torrential rain and thunder lightning etc and still really strong wind , so much for visiting forts and castles today. Think we will be finding a sheltered park up and hibernating

Good day to visit Valentia Island, them wee roads will be 'interesting' today 😂

Sod that , the wind thankfully kept the rain away most of the day so we got a couple of good walks and explored the forts , the castle and did a forest loop walk ... but then the wind got really serious and frankly dangerous. Struggled to find anywhere sheltered to park there was one section of road up on the cliffs around Arkeragh that was frankly arse clenching so I'm currently in Derrynane house carpark right under the no overnight parking sign hoping I can get away with it as the next sheltered spot with no restrictions is at sneem and its still blowing a gale , peeing it down now and getting dark so I really don't want to move . Skipped quite a few places I would have had a walk around if there had been sheltered parking

Quackers - you need to try harder with your fairy houses in your woods !

This morning started off with a visit to cahergall stone Fort, then Leacanabuaile ring Fort, very very windy today nearly getting blown off my feet taking the photos yet the dogs were charging around the top of the Fort chasing each other like there wasn't a bit of wind. We then parked the van at cuas crom beach and we hiked up to the castle quin forest Park and walked the 3.5km forest loop and back to the camper for lunch.

We then stopped for a quick look at ballycarberry Castle and then the old barracks at cahersiveen village. I had planned to spend another night in cahersiveen but it was just too windy and nowhere sheltered to park up . So we headed out on the ring road again looking for a sheltered Park up .. unfortunately not many options on a coastal drive so we passed several places I would have liked to visit but couldn't take the risk with the gale force winds so we continued on to derrynane and we are parked up there for tonight

Poor Internet so pics might take a while

The sahara sand will be waiting to sand blast him! :giggle:
I don’t think people generally have no idea how bad it is they think you are talking of wind with sand picked up but it’s nothing like that.
First not nessasarily that windy it’s like it comes in on a cloud but it’s a wet cloud and it drops the sand as though you are in a fog it absolutely covers you and sticks to your clothes our Black Car seriously turned Red our Pool the same the Terrace after you can actually sweep it up by the shovel full, months later you still come across the sand in window bottoms etc. It’s absolutely diabolical, Oh and trying to clear it off the Motorhome Roof and Solars is another story.

I got it in 2018 all over the roof of the frankia . Twas a nightmare

In not so good news today , on our walk in the forest milo had one of his funny turns only it wasn't exactly the same as before, he wasnt panting his heart wasnt racing etc ... it was just like his back legs started to not work.... he was struggling to straighten his back and put his legs down it was like some sort of nerve thing or a spasm... I picked him up and carried him for a bit , he was a bit shaky etc but we sat down and I just gave him a cuddle for a bit , after 5 minutes or so he jumped down and seemed fine again and managed to walk another 3 or 4 kilometres and has been fine since , the back legs thing happened the same way both other times, hes always had a weird thing with his hips like he sits on his side rather than how jade and ela sit , so I'm not sure what causes it , he always seems fine again within minutes and keen to carry on

Poor Milo :frowny: It might be worth getting him checked out if you find a vet, Tam.

Trapped nerve.
Doggy cramp
Just overdoing it, needs a bit of a rest to get oxygen into his back leg muscles.

Maybe he tweaked something on slippy wet grass whilst doing a handbrake turn.

I'll mention it to vet the next time we are at one but he seems fine each time just after so its possibly not anything serious. It was not long after he had been chasing around at the fort so it might be related as each time its happened he has been running around

Fingers crossed it’s nothing serious 👍

Give the walking a bit of a rest for a few days, Milo has likely tweaked his nerve and it will get inflamed so will need time to settle down otherwise you could end up with worse, trust me I know!

Oh I know, we were heading your way in March and due to the sandstorms we detoured to the other side and went through Portugal!

On looking at the video where all three are tearing around at high speed, Milo keeps up with Jade and Ela whose legs are twice as long. What a game little fellow, no wonder if he sometimes gets problems!
