tam have you tried irish ferries bit cheaper than the other 2 but the boats are dire
They are coming up most expensive £185 for the same crossing .

P&o now not returning a price and dfds £171

as said, clear the cookies.
Tried it and on my tablet , makes no difference still same prices

That's using direct ferries

If I try to use p&o themselves I can get the same boat time and crossing but at £45 dearer than the original quote.

So it's not that the boat is full just that they want more money.

They can bugger off

I'll have to use dfds at £171 but I ain't bloody happy about it

I would have though you could get the tunnel for that.

£269 for that date.

Really annoys me , they go on about the environment and emissions etc yet these trains and ferries are running half empty . The prices should actually be cheaper last minute to fill the spaces instead of dearer.

Which is why the whole save the planet thing is nonsense

The ferry I originally got quote for obviously has the space when I can still book it.

The days of last minute cheapies are I think long gone. Ferries and airlines want you booking early to get the cash in and to disincentive you hanging on for a cheaper price, otherwise we’d all be waiting for the last minute. They would rather not fill seats/ferries than sell the cheaply.

I know . But then if governments really want to stop climate change and save the planet there should be levvysput on ferries and planes running half empty.

Shouldn't all come down to personal vehicles .

On my two trips over the water this year the passenger decks have been almost empty both ways. I suppose the freight generates the cash and passengers are a take it or leave cream on the top.

Bloody ferry companies and the tunnel piss me off.

So I got a quote the other night for my crossing Dover to calais ...p&o 26th Nov 10am £149 all in .

Just went to book it and the site now tells me that sailing has sold out while I was entering details .

So the next available Is £171
Only it hasn't sold out as I can get the same boat same time same crossing just not the same price.

Really annoys me as its blatant profiteering .

So now the cheapest I can get for that day , the day before or the next 2 days after is minimum £22 dearer. For no other reason than they can .

If I thought it would make the least bit difference to the greedy swines I just wouldn't go and I'd go home instead.

I hope once I get off the boat it feckin sinks ....the scumbags
How about Irish ferries , they normally beat p & o and DFDS although I rather sail with DFDS

Use private browsing setting when booking, otherwise every time you look at will be more expensive, as to encourage you to book now!

Has anyone taken dogs on the newhaven to dieppe ferry recently? I decided to check that just incase and I can get a crossing on 26th at 10am with dfds for £157 so cheaper and less miles than dover to calais

4 hour crossing but it says dogs can be taken on board dfds

Anyone confirm if this is correct before I book it

Nearly always use Newhaven never seen a dog on the passenger decks Chris bellabee may know they take Gus on that route.
I suppose it is only 45 minutes longer than the dublin to holyhead crossing.

Might have to just stowaway again lol

Another thing I’ve noticed in the past is when your actually searching for prices, i often found the same ticket cheaper when searching at 3 in the morning compared to 10am say.
worth a look if your awake in the night.
I'm fed up looking I've booked the Newhaven to dieppe crossing .

Before any more price hikes

Just got off the Dieppe-Newhaven ferry. All dogs travelling in vehicles must be left in them.
I think I read that DFDS , unlike other carriers, allow dogs to travel with foot passengers, and that there is a small number of cages provided, on deck, for them. This may be what Tam is thinking about.
I haven't seen it for myself, though.

But as usual they don't give all the info till you do more research.

But doesn't matter which crossing I do it's the same on them all .

If you turn off cookies on your phone I’m sure it doesn’t recognise your search and may give you a “new” quote?
