Tam n pups winter trip 2022

Does Jade take her bottom set out at night and put them a cup ? :ROFLMAO:
It's a wee shame everyone that meets her comments on her teeth ,we've even had the odd person pull their kids or dogs away saying " oh she's baring her teeth " she's a wee cutey and just smiling and the most sociable out the 3 of them.

I know but it's not without issues , insurance, dog stuff etc. That's my plan this year to go to Morocco for a month or 6 weeks but it's dependent on their blood tests coming back OK in Spain otherwise I run out of time end of February
Tam if you are doing Morroco I would allow at least 8 weeks so diverse and so much to see,. I would also have a look at some of the older Moroccan threads on phone there is so much information on them from Funsters that have travelled through Morocco extensively. We went twice and absolutely enjoyed it the only thing I would say is if you are very animal orientated then you will see things that you would prefer not to see but I'm sure you already know that.

Aye I'm uses to that in Greece Spain etc ...and a lot of the countries I did last winter.

One of our border collies smiles, and some people think it's a snarl. Spice doesn't do it though.

Busy morning today , we were up fairly early so headed off in search of different scenery ...namely waterfalls...I mean after all the rain. It would be daft not to .

So there's a few around here ...on our way we passed this stunning spot on the banks of glencar Lough...where you could park overnight if desired....huge roadside parking with picnic benches etc . Stunning views View attachment 674419View attachment 674420View attachment 674421View attachment 674422View attachment 674423

And then on to our first waterfall , the devil's chimney which is approx a 40 minute walk/hike from the roadside parking , you can continue up past the official viewpoint which we did but its a very sleepy rocky climb but worth it as you can't see the pool from the official viewpoint. Cracking views down the Glen from up there too View attachment 674426View attachment 674427View attachment 674428View attachment 674429View attachment 674430View attachment 674431View attachment 674432View attachment 674433View attachment 674434View attachment 674435View attachment 674436View attachment 674437View attachment 674438View attachment 674439View attachment 674440View attachment 674441View attachment 674442View attachment 674443View attachment 674444View attachment 674445

Got chatting to a guy on the walk that was originally from Essex then lived in Glasgow for 5 years and then moved here to sligo about 3 years ago . Ela was having fun with his dog chasing around in the trees.

Then we headed just a few miles down the road to glencar waterfall , it's not quite as impressive and only a five minute walk from the carpark , again another spot you could stay overnight if you wanted. Got chatting to a couple in a Dutch registered motorhome who turned out to be American from sacraments california, they bought the van from friends in Holland in 2019 but because of covid its the first time they've got over to use it so have been on a tour of the UK...England now Ireland and heading to Scotland in a few weeks . I've been told if I get over to the US I'm welcome to.park up and work on their ranch as they struggle to.get workers ... never say never I said. So they've given me their card 😄

Sun's out now...we are just heading off along the rest of the loch ...hoping to see a couple of castles I've spotted ...find a lunch stop . And plan to be in sligo itself overnight tonight. Will see how it goes
Some of those photos are quite simply stunning !

Have you changed your phone camera settings?
This last lot of pics are so clear & crisp... and the composition of some of them are award winning.

This trip keeps getting better and better 😒 so I just went to move the van up the carpark a bit so I would only get folk parking on one side of me ... it won't start. It just keeps cranking over and makes no attempt to fire up ... basically like it's getting no fuel. Now this morning when I stopped to fill up with diesel it turned over a few times before starting which I thought was strange as it normally fires up first flick of the key .. it took 3 attempts but then started fine...and it's started fine the rest of the day no probs. But not now it just turns and turns and won't fire up . I've given it several tries.

It's doing exactly what the iveco was doing last year only in this case it makes no attempt to start , no coughing or spluttering etc ... zilch just cranking .

And of course its pitch black now so I can't see sod all.

Might have to get the aa out tomorrow

🤞for a quick & easy resolution in the morning.

What engine is it in that van Tam,2.8jtd?
Aye its almost like there was an immobiliser on or a fuel cut off switch . But I'm not aware of either on this van. Glow plug light etc goes off ...it just won't fire up

If you had bothered to read my post you'd understand that I took a DNA test to try to find family because I don't have any!

You clearly don't understand how a DNA test works or what information it gives. Just to enlighten you... DNA testing utilises autosomal testing technology to show your genetic makeup going back many hundreds of years. Everyone has the same amount of DNA - 50% from each parent.

Why make such offensive comments?
Sorry if you were offended, it was just meant as light hearted banter hence the smilies, winks, etc😞

OK I've identified the problem... it is the immobiliser, the padlock light was staying illuminated. But it did go off at one point and the van started . So that's what's causing it but not sure why .. I am parked under a lot of electrical cables and I've read that can cause interference so I'm not sure . I'll just have to see if it does it again or not .

And I really need to tighten my alternator belt too as when cold it's squeeking like hell. It's a pain this everything I get cambelt and belts changed before I come away and then within weeks the auxiliary belt has obviously stretched a bit and needs tightened. The hymer and the iveco did the same.

But at least I know what the fault is ...I'm just hoping it isn't going to cause me repeating issues.

A bit drier today and the sun has finally made an appearance now . Left sligo Town this morning after filling up with water at a service station and then getting diesel at another one lol as it was 13 cents a litre cheaper. . We then went to knocknarea and hiked up to Queen maeves cairn ....about 20 minutes in to the hike we found a sign " no dogs allowed beyond this point " someone had written beneath it my sentiments " bollocks rule" and as I looked around saw no justifiable reason for such a stupid sign I gave it the attention it deserved and we carried on . . Another 20 minutes took us to the top , no animals or anything around so still no idea why the sign was there . But the dogs were on the lead at that point anyway. So here's the pics from the walk up , the cairn itself and the views from the top ...it was still overcast at that time unfortunately so views are not so clear. We then left there and went to carrowmore to see the passage tombs ...but 3 things put me off when we got to the carpark , there was a visitor centre, there was an admission fee and there was no dogs allowed. So we left again , I don't go walks without my dogs . So we are now at eskae just along from the old castle having lunch.. its sunny ,dry but windy .. we will have a wee walk after lunch then most likely move on to ballina
Just such stunning photos.

Gina.

Ela is a snob; Jade has a beautiful smile and Milo is the double of my Leo:giggle:(y)

Gina.
Ela is a sweetheart..so very affectionate. When she's not being a stubborn sod.

Jade is nosey and sociable, likes stealing my body heat but isn't actually keen on cuddles.

Milo is clingy and has slight separation issues ...he's like my shadow and is usually glued to my side

Leo is the same with me, so affectionate he clings to me whenever he gets the chance. I have never had a dog like that before, similar breed I think to your Milo. I am told Leo is a Patterdale Terrier. Don't know if that is true, I just love him, He's my boy :h:

We have done a fair bit of driving today , after our morning walk which we just had around the Belleek forest Park again we headed off following the coast up to Ballycastle...we went to a few spots that over excited park4night contributers had made out to sound heaven on earth only to find a dead little village with nothing to see bar the sea ...so ended up skipping a large chunk of coast and cutting down through wild nephin national park ....I jumped out the van a few times here to take the odd photograph and on one of these occasions disaster struck ....I accidentally hit the push down button for the door lock on the way out and ended up locking myself out the bloody motorhome 🤦‍♂️ engine running , dogs all in the van all lockers etc locked and me on the side of the road in the middle of nowhere , fortunately I hadn't slammed the cab door so while it was on the catch and locked it wasn't completely closed so there was a small gap ...but off course all the lockers with my tools etc in were locked ...the only one that wasn't was the little hatch where I fitted my compressor but of course I can't fit through that one. . Luckily for me the charger cable for my wee hoover was in there , so I managed to make a noose and pull the button up but I did have 10 minutes of panic and scouting around on the ground trying to find something suitable before that.

These are the pics from there . ...and my wee noose that saved my life

We then headed on to burrishoole Abbey, which is a ruin but not coastline so a change is as good as a holiday eh lol

We had lunch there and another wee walk .

I had considered spending the night there but had zero Internet connection and not much options for a morning walk etc so decided to move on to the next village which is Newport. Lots of no camper and overnight parking signs here unfortunately ..so can't stay in any of the carparks but I found a side street with no signs so bugger it I'm staying here tonight . We had another wee walk around the town , the house with the red ivy is Newport House, then the cathedral and then over the old railway viaduct which is now just a footbridge . And back to the camper . We've been lucky today and the rain stayed off but it's on now and chucking it down . Not planning to go out again now though so I'm not bothered. We've possibly missed a few scenic spots by cutting out a section of coast but to be honest I never planned to do the whole 1600km of coastline as that's just too.much off the same thing . I could be doing with some sort of quick reference plan of things that are worth going to see and stuff that isn't as obviously a lot of the waw is not that fantastic but many things are .
