Tam n pups winter trip 2022

Trouble is you could take 6 months in eu, then you would have 6 months solid out of eu, possibly back here, it could suit some, possibly the snowbirds, but like me even if I was retired I would probably prefer 3 months at different times, but on reflection you could prob do 4 months and then 2 months breaking it up!
Either way it would give a lot more flexibility and choice to a lot more people, so could possibly be a good thing.
It was a big faux par on behalf of the U.K. negotiating team, who quite frankly couldn’t negotiate a deal on a new car🙄
Yeah personally I'd have preferred a 6 month block in shengen which would easily cover winter time. This 90 days crap is useless.

Another very wet morning today so I'm not going out till it stops ...weather forecast looks better for after lunch so here's hoping as we just get soaked in this weather and it's no fun trying to dry dogs and clothes. I want to do the hike up to Queen maeves tomb and I need to refill water and diesel tomorrow so I probably won't be far outside of sligo tonight . Tomorrow looks drier thankfully

Yes, I thought half way through my post about splitting it say 4/2 month or whatever suits so yes it would probably be a better solution, it would give more flexibility 👍

Most seem to solve the problem by using countries outside , eg Morocco , Turkey etc to stay away from UK for winter or whenever .

I know but it's not without issues , insurance, dog stuff etc. That's my plan this year to go to Morocco for a month or 6 weeks but it's dependent on their blood tests coming back OK in Spain otherwise I run out of time end of February

Knocknarea
Pronounced Knock Na Ray (Irish for hill of the queen)
Legend has it that each stone of her burial cairn was placed there by her former lovers individually.... when you see it you'll see she must of been a busy girl! 🤣😂

Here’s a good chat up line for you Tam should you like anyone.

Hi Tam, has the rain stopped yet. Did you get to go to the pub with the dogs to try a pint of Guinness?

Gina.

I did a DNA test recently and found that I'm around 50% Irish (specifically Cork, Kerry & Munster) with a smattering of Welsh and a bit of Cornish, Scottish and Norwegian. It's a pity that it's not possible to obtain an Irish passport based on DNA results.

Such a beautiful country!
You Southerners must be a lot of randy old nastids.

Aye that's the one ...I won't be doing it today though as the forecast lied . Its not stopped raining all day so far . Had to give in and take the dogs a walk a wee while ago but none of us enjoyed it and now we are all damp . If it's dry tomorrow we will attempt it .

It stopped enough to get 2 reasonable walks in ...well the second one anyway we got soaked on the first. Not been to the pub though . Moving on in the morning

Yea the weather this time of year is never that good, too much changing in the Atlantic around this time of year
Not sure what if any weather apps your using Met Eireann is shite lol, when we used to sail the transatlantic routes we always used yr.no it's the most accurate, it's Norwegian but all the Irish boaters use it, you just type in where your going and it'll give you the most accurate forecasts 👍

I hope the rain stops, nothing worse than wet dogs and wet clothes in a van:(

I never bother as I can't do anything about it anyway lol ..I'm either here till next month or back in Scotland as I can't go to Spain before that if I want to be away over winter.

Just might be better for your mental health at the moment to be at home with your family Tam then feck off to Spain.

We're going back to Morocco in January until end of March, fairly shortens the Irish winter lol

Was the plan to get a ferry to Spain or France from Ireland?
Nah as I can't get pet cabin. So I'm booked Dublin to holyhead on 23rd November ...then 2 days down to Dover and ferry to calais. 4 days through France to Spain. Then heading to murcia area to get dogs blood tests done .

That's the plan at the minute ...if there's no hiccups

Dam! I'll be back home.

A bit drier today and the sun has finally made an appearance now . Left sligo Town this morning after filling up with water at a service station and then getting diesel at another one lol as it was 13 cents a litre cheaper. . We then went to knocknarea and hiked up to Queen maeves cairn ....about 20 minutes in to the hike we found a sign " no dogs allowed beyond this point " someone had written beneath it my sentiments " bollocks rule" and as I looked around saw no justifiable reason for such a stupid sign I gave it the attention it deserved and we carried on . . Another 20 minutes took us to the top , no animals or anything around so still no idea why the sign was there . But the dogs were on the lead at that point anyway. So here's the pics from the walk up , the cairn itself and the views from the top ...it was still overcast at that time unfortunately so views are not so clear.

We then left there and went to carrowmore to see the passage tombs ...but 3 things put me off when we got to the carpark , there was a visitor centre, there was an admission fee and there was no dogs allowed. So we left again , I don't go walks without my dogs . So we are now at eskae just along from the old castle having lunch.. its sunny ,dry but windy .. we will have a wee walk after lunch then most likely move on to ballina

Tam we stayed at Gortnor abbey pier aire on loch conn a few miles out of Ballina it's got toilets and a water tap but could not find where to empty gray waste, but very quiet

If you had bothered to read my post you'd understand that I took a DNA test to try to find family because I don't have any!

You clearly don't understand how a DNA test works or what information it gives. Just to enlighten you... DNA testing utilises autosomal testing technology to show your genetic makeup going back many hundreds of years. Everyone has the same amount of DNA - 50% from each parent.

Why make such offensive comments?

Cheers Tam, those photos bring back great memory's for me. I have not been there for years but have been so many times surfing there. That’s the castle that I said you could get in and climb up to the top for good photos of the area but maybe you can’t now. When I used to go there surfing there was no barrier and we used to free camp in that car park or to the right of the carpark on the grass the other side of the pier. That dog painted rock was there then, painted by a local lady. Great to see it’s still there. Thanks for photos made my day but wish I was there, it’s been to long since I was there. 👍
