Tam n pups winter trip 2022

Morning folks

Since I'd rather get all the bad news out the way at one time then we can distracted ourselves with motorhomes again .

I found a lump myself the other day, found one several years ago and ultrasound said it was just a cyst nothing to worry about. Felt like I'd wasted NHS time so in truth I stopped checking .....but I found something the other day twice the size of last time and in a different place . So I'd feel better just getting it checked out.

Had to play the phonecall lottery to get a docs appointment but I've got one for 11.30 today , so hopefully they will tell me its nowt but if not I'll get referred again and see what happens. Tried to stay off Google lol but you always look don't you. But I try not to waste docs time if I can so I just wanted to check and see if I had any symptoms etc ... I have had a bit lower back pain and occasional pain in my groin same side . So I think I'm justified going for appointment just to make sure it's not something.

Anyway I will update that later.



Mum in good spirits this morning I can't believe how she's just taken the news in her stride and still cracking jokes about stuff. But I prefer that to her being down about it. I'm trying to do the same and I'm mostly succeeding just the odd thought about future enters my head and gives me the odd wobble.

But I'll go in to full distraction mode again soon
 
Bloody hell Tam. It's true ....it never rains but it pours. You're doing the right thing getting it checked out quickly.
Google is a great friend and our worst enemy sometimes. Fingers crossed for the appointment.

Been to docs. Confirmed I'm not imagining it, referring me for urgent ultrascan. More than likely nothing but better getting it checked out.

Hopefully urgent doesn't turn out to be next week lol as I need to get these electrics done.

You might not want to share this news with your Mum, but you will have a sympathetic ear here.
 
Usually within 2 weeks mine was nothing hope yours is the same

Yeah I'm not telling her anything about that. Sister knows that's enough.

I'm pretty sure it will be a cyst or something like last time. But best to check .

I've got some nice garden loppers I can use on you if you really want to get down to Uncle Lenny's ... you might walk a bit funny though! :giggle:

So sorry to hear of your Mum’s results - as others have said, make the most of the time you have left with her and fingers crossed, your lump is nothing to worry about.
 
Have only just caught up with your thread. I am so, so sorry for the news about your mum. The short time given must have been such a shock. I hope your own health worry turns out ok. It's a stark reminder that none of us know what's around the corner.

We are so far behind in the UK, when I had my galbadder problem in Germany local GP had an ultrasound scaner. Scanned and sent straight to the hospital.
Can't be that expensive just a scanner head plugged into a PC.
 
Tam. Stay clear of google - it will do your head in. Wait until you get your scan Results and then you will know what you have to deal with. At the moment Mum is your priority. She only has a certain time left you and your sister must spend time with her as much as you can. Cracking jokes is a cover I expect to a certain extent. You will get to Uncle Lennies.

As the circumstances have all changed again , when I come back from uncle Lenny HB I'm moving back in to the house for now and selling the caravan again. Hoping to sell it before the season ends otherwise I may have it till next spring and that's kinda pointless.

Shame as it is a lovely wee caravan and had my original plan worked out I'd have kept it indefinitely.
 
On the face of things selling the caravan seems to make sense.
Is a conversation about your future living arrangements one you can have with your siblings? I can imagine it might feel inappropriate/insensitive but it might prevent you making a decision you later wished you hadn’t.

Well I'll be able to stay here till the house is all cleared and sold which won't happen very quickly. After that I think I'll want to dissappear for a while. Maybe do another 12 month trip. After that who knows. I'm considering buying a property again perhaps with a sitting tenant for now . But I'm not making any big decisions till afterwards . I'm reasonably financially secure at the minute and mum has worked hard to leave us a bit of inheritance too so I'll be OK in that respect, just have to decide later which road I take next. My sister has said I can use her address for my bank , licence, insurance etc.

The caravan would have been ideal to leave here as a base and perhaps later put it on a bit land if I decided to buy in Portugal etc.

But I'm not sure yet if that's what I'll want and it's not worth keeping it in storage etc so makes sense just to sell it on again now as I'd rather not have the drive full of stuff . I'd rather be in the house with mum just now anyway. And I'll continue doing my jobs on the camper meanwhile. I also have a lot of stuff I've been keeping in mums loft I Need to sort through and get rid of most of it .

It's amazing the difference in mum in just a few weeks, the amount of sleeping she does is crazy. She sleeps all night but since 9am this morning I think she's only been awake about 20- 25 minutes. Has been that way now the last 4 days.
