Looking at the front suspension, could I ask what spring these have on the front, just curious.

Yeah just a bit ...she could get in OK and liked the leather as she could slide and spin on it to get in and out but too low to stand up from. That and its not a car for hashing about on deliveries. Its not nimble enough and I think the speed bumps etc would ruin it.

I only use a car for work really so no point in having 2 either.
We had a few of those big volvos, best one the 940 estate for sleeping in the back, it took a double air mattress, and for moving kids around when they were students.
Had to get rid of the last one when Bristol brought in 20 mph limits. Couldn’t hold it in 3rd gear so spent all our time in 2nd.

On the iveco? It's a very strange set up . Not seen it before.

But I have to say its a very smooth ride. And the rear air is good too

They might have torsion bars fitted ? My son's Isuzu Ranger definitely had them and I think his old Daily could have had them too ? I've rolled around in the mud under most of his vehicles, so I might be getting mixed up !

Seems the same system on ivecos right up to 2013.

Even the rear hubseals and brake shoes are the same part from 1991 to 2011

Which makes it easy to get parts

This must be a torsion bar

Riverbankannie I had a Volvo 840 which I drove 23 miles each way on the M12 before cycling into Hackney. Got 70mpg according to the on board computer! Sold for £50 to a fellow worker who wife had terminal cancer😢. They used to put an airbed in the back and go away for weekends.

The only draw back was getting up in the morning! Going to bed fine, in the darkness of an unlit field at an MG event. In the light of day surrounded closely by friends it was a bit of a wriggle getting dressed inside sleeping bag. 🤣

Pebbles from the Flintstones was my guess

Have you even had the Volvo long enough to get the log book back from DVLA!

But that's everything arrived now, got new reverse camera and a couple of new reading lamps to install too.

I always think the older stuff, dashboard included, looks so much better than the more modern stuff.

My old mechanic mate whose sadly no longer with us used to say this when looking for reliable vans around dealers yards etc.

“ If the gearsticks on the floor, look around and buy some more
But if the gearsticks on the dash, get outa there in a flash”

And that’s the reason our Motorhome gearstick is on the floor, so yours should be a good one too Tam.

Aye the mot inspector yesterday had just done a 2019 burstner motorhome. His words to me was " I love how simple it is , break down in this there's a good chance it can be fixed roadside. Breakdown in that you're getting towed" and hrs probably right. No sensors etc on this old thing , it's basic

What is this gearstick on the floor thing.
I've heard the saying before, but what is the relevance 🤷‍♂️

It was just a general rule, he told me when they started putting gearsticks on the dash it coincided with fancy electronic issues and lots more things to go wrong etc etc

That's the volvo SOLD. Or at least £200 deposit paid on it.

But yet another crazy story.

So I had put it on ebay and also on gumtree for £1500.

Had quite a few enquiries last night but one was this.
I've blanked phone numbers out for privacy.

Now obviously I thought this was a windup lol.

But sure enough I got a call today from the guy who messaged and the old fella who wanted the car was there with him. I struggled to understand a word as they're from arbroath and have very strong teucter accents ...but he's paid a £200 deposit on it and is paying the full asking price of 1500 plus £50 to deliver it to arbroath.

It's a strange old world lol. Mum was convinced it was a wind up too.

So I'm taking it up there on Saturday

Will you be sitting in with him for the test drive Tam ? 👨‍🦯
There won't be any test drive lol , he's agreed to buy it blind ( pardon the pun) I'll be dropping it off and getting home , I gotta have my sister follow me up there and bring me back and she's no the most patient lol
