Tam n pups winter trip 2022

So sorry to here about your mum Tam try and stay strong for her I feel for you ,try not to worry till she has the scan and you know the results

You have wheels, you have your dream of a plot of land in the sun somewhere.
Hang on to those dreams whilst dealing with the present.
What a lovely way of putting it.

Northernraider Tam, I can understand what you are going through.

We were in the UK in may of last year to celebrate my wife's birthday and she was feeling "not right" Eventually rushed into hospital in Margate and operated on to bypass her blocked colon. The doctor mentioned that he thought the blockage was cancerous. We returned home so she could be treated. Yes, she has had chemo and gone through its side effects. she had the lump removed and the colon reconnected. She has a PET-scan every three months - your sister will know what that is - to check one progress, or otherwise, on reducing the remaining cancer nodules on her liver. Unfortunately, the most recent PET-scan indicated something on my wife's lungs which hadn't been spotted before and her chemo therapy has been changed. Although the chemo is stronger, strangely, my wife is coping with it much better and we are able to get out and about during the 28-day treatment cycle, something we couldn't do with the previous regime.

My wife is the fourth close female relative to be hit with this. Firstly my mother, then my sister-in-law (she died the day before her 55th birthday) and then my sister. Of course, we keep hoping for the best possible outcome, but I keep both of our sons fully informed and they share the information with their families. I'm also in regular contact with my nephews in California and they compare the way the treatment is going with what their mum went through.

Do you know what? Somehow I feel better for sharing that. So "Thank You".

John

In a couple of weeks once the camper is motd , im going to take a week off work and drive down to uncle lennys and do my electrics on the van. Was having a look at the wiring etc on this today and I'm just not confident doing it myself.

So I'm gonna order up the new parts in the next few days

Sorry to hear your news Tam. These things always come as a shock even when you expect them. Without being patronising,it’s clear you are dealing with it in the right way, which is admirable.

I'm trying

But in truth I'm numb. And the stupid things your brain comes up with is embarrassing.

Part of me wishes I didn't know

Wishing you strength in what will be a very difficult time Tam, it’s a horrible disease, I lost my dad on the big C , first diagnosed mid 60, then it returned early 70 and within months he was gone.
But age doesn’t really matter, if it is your loved one then it is always too early👍

Oh Tam what a shock, neither of my parents went with cancer but it is always too early.
I on the other hand was diagnosed with prostate cancer last year and have been through all the treatments , it is advanced but treatable I have hope .
That is what you must believe that we have quality of life and the NHS are magnificent in providing the best care.
All the best for you and your mum and family.
Chasnam

Have you warned told 'Uncle Lenny' that his adopted nephew is going to be visiting? Maybe that's why he said he's off abroad again for a few months? :giggle:

You'll go through a whole host of emotions Tam, you'll come up with daft stuff and more serious stuff, it's normal so don't feel bad about anything that you 'think' of which may seem inappropriate, it's just your brain's way of coping.

One thing that might help is to write stuff down, not on an open forum, but in a private document - paper, Word etc, just to get the muddled thoughts out of your brain and deal with them more rationally, it does work and stops you constantly going over and over them again, they won't stop completely but will certainly lessen. This will also help you work through the 'practicalities' of what is needed over the coming months, from basic stuff to more serious things, again it will allow you to note them down and then stop mulling them over all the time, fretting if you've forgotten something, or that you've not thought of things you should.

I've been in your position and for me doing this 'jotting' really helps, hopefully it will for you too.

Uncle Lenny HB loves to have me visit despite what he says on here. He loves to learn from a real FLT 😉. Anyway he's making good use of it. Hes already lining up mechanical jobs for me to do on his car and motorhome. While he attempts to sort this mess out

Good luck Lenny😊

Aye the burnt spade comes from the rcd on the control panel. There's no outward wire from the connection so I'm guessing someone disconnected it before. Its all original wiring but everything is 2 core cable

Good luck to Lenny, reckon he's going to need it - but sure he'll do a good job. 🤞 (y)

What it is to have friends. :giggle:

Booked the van in for its mot ...a week tomorrow at 9am

10 minutes later a letter arrived for mum.
Her scan is a week tomorrow at 9.35am
Sister will be taking her but what a coincidence.

Texting back n forth with uncle lenny at present trying to find the best prices for all my electrical goodies lol.

With 2 flt's on the hunt it's a mission lol. Trying to find the best prices with discount codes here and there.

Always the Same but every supplier has some parts cheaper and other parts dearer than the competition

I don't often post much these days, but I feel the need to say that one of the most difficult feelings you will have to deal with is the feeling of hopelessness that there is nothing you can do about the situation. Just stay strong and remember there is no shame in having a good weep occasionally. I have been there with it myself, I lost most of my family to Cancer.

Best wishes to you and your family.

Temu and AliExpress are your friends. Sure Lenny HB will tell you what he thinks of Chinese junk:ROFLMAO:
Just had my first delivery from Temu, what a load of crap got 2 out of the 3 items refunded.

And Tam's doing my head in at the moment already lost two hours of my life this morning.
