Tam n pups winter trip 2022

A few more jobs today finishing off the trim. Covered a couple of extra bits and what a difference it's made. That's all the carpeting done now .

I think I'm going to paint over all the green on the ceiling etc though as it's not nice. Don't know what possessed mobilvetta to do the roof green . View attachment 787883View attachment 787884View attachment 787885View attachment 787886View attachment 787887View attachment 787888

Once I've hoovered it all out I'm gonna send a few pics to that arse I bought it from 😉
Doesn't show mould?:ROFLMAO:

If you Google mountain forest graphics a few come up, couldn’t your artist friend paint one for you…?😎

I think you should keep the silver or a slightly darker gun metal grey. Any other colours just shout that it has been re-sprayed. The grey tones will look smart with the silhouette of mountain scenes that Just smiffy suggested. Very classy.

That just smiffy suggested 😱😱

I shall beg your pardon sir! , I said a few weeks ago I was planning to have trees and moontins pented oan it

But I don't really want to use the massively produced decals/graphics you can buy on ebay etc as there's loads of self build vans with those on.

I'd like it to be a bit more individual than that. ...and a bit classier.

I'd like to lose the big white box look.

But yeah my original colour was dark grey , black is too much , but don't like the silver

But my second thought was if not doing trees etc then change the silver to a gold/bronze and do window frames etc to match... but now I've seen those professional pics above 🤣🤣🤣 I'm not so keen on that.

Started on the few jobs needing done before I mot it.

Both batteries are insecure and moved around engine bay. Wiring also a shambles.

So I've sorted out the engine battery today. Took a while as I also had a hole in the wing to repair and paint it to tidy it up

Leisure battery also need secured. So that's next , also need to suss out the wiring for that as I want to move it inside the van

Also need to find a spring to fix the bonnet catch as currently bonnet doesn't stay closed.

And I've this hole on the inner wing to repair that's been an advisory for years. Not a failure as not structural on this van but its a mess and I want it fixed

I also need to check the rear shocks as I think one might be leaking but otherwise I think that's it.

I had the van age problem and the only one I found was this one but I’m not even sure the would cover yours, being a few years older
I’m know looking for another source of breakdown cover as the company I linked to has sent out that they no longer cover over 3500kg.

I opened a nationwide flex plus account. No brainer as it covers me in any vehicle Europe wide , no age restrictions and up to 7.5t for motorhomes.

Have looked at how long you can travel in EU with this.
I’ve been looking at options but not managed to find anything yet.

As far as I'm aware there's no restrictions on length of trip for breakdown. Travel insurance has a 31 day limit but can be extended.

OK guys so this post is hard for me to write. But if I don't mention it now it's just going to be more of a shock later. You can understand I have a lot of mixed emotions at the minute and I'm trying to stay focused and positive where I can , but I'm understandably scared.

So when mum was in hospital last weekend having the scan done to see what was causing her back pain they found other stuff. She has a large shadow on her lung, another in her abdomen and one at the base of her spine. They want to do another scan to confirm things and try to tell us the type but the consultant has already said they believe it to be lung cancer and I can't remember the other word they used but basically the other shadows are throw offs from the one on her lung.

Mum doesn't want to know indepth details , she also doesn't want it to become a discussion or something to bring us all down ... she also doesn't want any invasive treatments etc.

My sister was with her so she knows everything and didn't tell me the full story till this morning , my brother doesn't know yet.

At the minute we don't know the exact timescales etc but worse case scenario she could have less than 7 months , but maybe a lot more. ( this is my sisters words not hospital) the next scan might tell us more. I'm hoping it does

I've told my sister that despite what my mum says I want to know everything

I think mum thinks if I don't know then I'll continue travelling etc without worrying but I can't take that risk , I don't want to be down in Greece or Turkey with 3 dogs and a motorhome and have to rush home if I can avoid it.

If there's the slightest chance that she is going to get really sick or die when I'm away then I can't and won't go this winter, I couldn't live with it. If they think/say that she has a lot longer then I might go this year but be back before she gets really ill .

I'm trying to put my big boy pants on and accept no one lives forever and that 79/80, isn't a bad innings but at the Same time it's a bit of a shock at the minute and I'm not only worried but scared shitless too.

So that's as much as I know at the minute, we will hopefully know more in the next week or so when she's had the other scan.

Mum's in good spirits, almost too good to be honest, I actually think she's had an idea as she has been super chilled this year throughout all my van changing dramas etc.

As I said I have really mixed confusion emotions right now , I know you will all be supportive. I have to just keep plodding on with the van 1) because I need it to be ready and 2) because I need the distraction.

No point in it being the highlight of the discussion at present as I won't know any more details till the next scan.

For now it's back to the van

oh crikey m'dear, no wonder you're scared, and if your mum has had an inkling on this then she is a very brave woman to not want to worry you..
wish i could give you all big proper hugs right now, but you keep strong, as strong as you can be to see your mum through this, thoughts are with you all..

right, now get distracting and make that van the very best one ever..
