Nice package of goodies arrived this morning from Feltwell For when I get to the polishing stage.

Royal mail unfortunately killed one of the bottles but I look forward to trying this lot out on moby once he's all watertight.

Should bring the fibreglass cab section up lovely.

I would happily take all of those parked along the grass edge ....but the middle row you can keep. Give me those classics everyday. Especially the mk1 escorts . I still miss mine
I did a rally school recently - a Mk2 RS2000 Escort and an Impreza.

The Impreza was of course quicker, it was a slippery course and 4WD was a big advantage, but the Escort was much more fun - no weight and rear wheel drive, hooning it around their course sticking the tail out was a great laugh.

Argh, bl@@dy Royal Mail! They've been having fun with their steamroller and the parcels again. Ahh well, glad the important stuff survived, the pink stuff is trim polish that's burst & leaked. All the 3-stage polishes for the van paintwork & GRP have survived, and the paint sealant for protecting it all afterwards, keep it looking good. I look forward to seeing the end results!

Managed to get the two front rooflights sealed this morning. Never removed these I just cleaned the old sealant from around them and put a fresh bead round the edge. There was no sign of them leaking so left well alone as they sometimes crack etc removing them.

Then I started to tackle the one in the bathroom , silicone dafty had been at this one too and it was a mess , really difficult to get in to it because of the roof rack so I started trying to remove a few sections of roof rack to give me access and the bolts were all shearing so in the end I've just removed the whole roof rack. To be honest I'd never carry anything up there anyway and whilst the rear ladder is sometimes handy it can also be a security risk and a leak risk so I've just removed that too.

Sealed up that skylight and gave the roof a slight preliminary clean. I'll do it properly later .

The skylight above the kitchen is one of the cheap and nasty mk pop up ones so that is getting replaced with a fiamma omnivent that I spotted in the classifieds on here.

I think it looks better without the roofravk anyway and I imagine it would have rattled in high winds.

Can you please stop Tam - you've forced (shamed) me to buy cleaning and polishing stuff - and Sikaflex for my Moby :giggle:

Extra payload now. Perfect. How much does another dog weigh 🤔.

Looking do much better now if there is only the one damp wall inside may not have been such a buy after all.
Well there's a wee bit under the bathroom window at the back but I knew about that bit . The rest seems solid enough

My van has got a rear ladder, I wish it didn't. I made an aluminium cover plate to go over it to help dissuade any little scrotes from climbing it, else an open ladder is just an invite for bored kids messing about. I've never had a problem but it would still make it much easier to climb on the roof. Taking it off would leave whacking great holes though.

It's been useful just once in 10 years - a skylight stuck shut on it's rubber seal, I sent my youngest up there to go across the roof and gently pull it up - Chunky Monkey here has never dared go on the roof himself! Taking yours off is a wise move I'd say.

Back to Escorts for a mo, if I may. How can prices vary from £2,000 to £100,000 for the same car model?

For £2000 it must be a right pile of crap.

A friend of mine just imported a nice rust free example from South Africa...rhd drive aswell. He paid £7700 for it and I think around £1600 to have it container shipped to the UK.

Over here once cleaned up he reckons its a £20k car.

The old orange Mexico I used to own I paid around £600 for it in 1992 , sold it for a wee bit more but not much. Last time I saw it for sale it was £13.5k 😱

Yeah surprisingly only 4 x 8mm holes from removing mine and off course the bit of damaged paintwork etc. But that will be disguised later.

I was originally going to keep it as its handy to get up and clean solar or roof etc. But I have a telescopic ladder so whilst it will take up a bit of precious space in the locker it's more secure.

Oh by the way who ever the anonymous person that put £10 in my revolut account with the note " have a beer on me " was thanks very much lol. Don't drink much but I'm gonna have a pizza with that tonight 😁
Just to let you know Tam

It wasn’t me😄

Payload should be a luxury on this . I think I've over 1200kg . But nowhere to carry it 🤣🤣

My son ripped the ladder off the back of mine a couple of months ago when he parked under a tree!
Not a bit of damage though - it just pulled off its brackets. I used it once - it was a pain to climb - leaving it off and using a telescopic (plenty of room in the 'garage' on mine:giggle:)

What is the revenue weight on yours Tam?

To be honest having that wall stripped out on mine and seeing what's in there as far as support goes I'd be nervous using the ladder with my weight.

Might get a few quid for it and the roofrack on gumtree though. Someone might use it.

If not I'll cut the aluminium in to smaller lengths and keep hold of it for any future projects

4200kg

My 190lx was 3850kg. I downplated it to 3500kg -
OK payload is 'iffy' and the tax was a bit lower as a PHGV - but:
Everything else is less restricted - speed, tolls, access and cheaper, the van is easier to sell - no C1 needed
Your van has twin rear wheels, rear axle etc. (mine's longer but FWD) I'd be interested to know its weighbridge weight

I think This was originally 3850, it was then downplated years back by one of the previous owners to 3500 as there's a letter among the paperwork stating that and then at some point it was put back up to 4200kg , it has the twin rear wheels , 6 leaf rear springs and also has a fairly recent Dunlop airbag system on the rear too. No idea what it weighs empty to be honest. I've tried Google searching a few times to find out the proper payload etc but had no luck. Only weighbridge round here is a scrap yard in Inverkeithing. But by the time I can drive it anywhere its gonna have all my stuff in it as the euramobil will be going sometime this week.

I noticed there's a 180 now on ebay that claims to be under 3500kg and its an iveco rwd too

My 190 was the Same as yours fwd fiat engined and I'm sure it was 3500kg
