Just had to go to local builders merchants for some ct1 sealant as it's sunny today I need to seal up that roof seam before any more water gets in.

It's a nightmare but just gotta try and see what I can do

For the faint hearted don't look at the above photos just look at these ones instead.

Now Tam you know what they say “if it was made by man it can be fixed by man” even a Dunfermline man we three dugs” 😉
Take one job at a time, break it into steps then take as many t breaks, walks wi the dugs as it takes and come back to it, it’s no goin’ onywhere!
All the best

A good friend of mine (now passed) decided he needed to dig a well. He was in his 60's and the well needed to go down 30 feet. I told him I didn't think he'd do it. Easy he said - l'll dig a foot each day and in a month it will be done. He did it !
It took him 2 hours to do the first foot but 2 days to do the last but he got there and found water. It was a lesson that has helped me at times (y)

This would get me down as well. At least the outlay isn't as much as you've spent before. It would be easy to get overwhelmed. Take it one area at a time. I've seen some amazing fixes online that were worse than this. At least you're handy. Good luck.

There is one thing about this tam, at least it's only 10 grand and you are capable of doing it yourself, think about the people we have had on here who had sunk their life savings into similar damp vans.
They must really have thought about jumping.

Sorry it uploaded before I finished was going to say with the old houses I have worked on and all looked lost you would be amazed how bad the internals of an old house look when you strip it all back to the structure I have also built my own camper so I do know what is involved.

One bit at a time

Our timber front door was rotten to the core, it’s a bespoke size and quotes for new ones were £2500 some a bit more.
All the joiners who came said it’s knackered and totally not repairable.

I did a bit at a time, when I started stripping the old wood I was shocked, there’s more new wood than old, there was nothing hardly

left of the bottom sections.

New Sapele hardwood, a saw, wood glue, nails.

Turned out beautiful so it can be done.

I think you need a caravan to live in, & then just plod on with it all! At least if you have a caravan there all the time it’s a base if you have to fettle the van again. The damps a pain, but at least you will know it’s done properly when you’ve done it. One day at a time - & don’t waste any more energy thinking about the chancer who sold it to you!

Went from gutted to joy in one post, seeing the rot you are having to get through and then your lovely mates so full of love that’s so obvious from how they look at you.
Only a matter of a few months and all of you will be enjoying the benefits of your good work.

Keep looking forward mate.(y)

Tam you have a big heart to take on that but your a big lad and I'm sure you will do it, you have so much positivtey coming from your thread others like Uncle Lenny I'm sure will help if needed you'll get there, and everyone will be with you each step waiting and looking forward to whatever adventures your van will eventually take us all on.
Don't let it disrupt your sleep, vent on here when ever you need.
Though I do wish there was some way the con artist who sold it you could get his share of Kama.

Something really ought to be done about this bloke though. Ok tam will get over this no problems, but what about the other folks who can't handle this who are going to get done by this bloke.

Did it not smell damp ?
Surprisingly not....but then when I arrived the van was sat with all skylights and windows open , awning wound out etc . And there were a few airfresheners.

He knew what he was doing disguising it .

Well this is what he looks like so you can all avoid him

Tell me which ad it is and I will report it as fraudulent on ebay
Just follow the links on here. But the problem is we don't know anything about the one he is selling now so can't say that one is fraudulent.
But having two different names is suspicious in it's self.

Stupid boy, you should have sussed that straight away.

Yeah in hindsight ...but I was tired from a long train ride, anxious to get home again etc.. so I guess I didn't realise how bad it was. Having that other panel fixed over the top of it all obviously threw me aswell as that isn't soft so pressing around it didn't make me think it was leaking bad.
I originally though that was original from factory but having stripped it off it has been done some time in the past. Its been sold through Brownhills in 2017 so possibly them bodging it so sell it.

He's only had it since October so he's not done anything to it other than possibly the silicone smeared everywhere. But I think he was well aware of it and just closes not to tell anyone.

Many years ago (over 30) we wanted to move from a tent to a caravan, the first one we viewed we liked the layout so bought it. Didn’t have any experience of what to look for, while checking the electrics I noticed what I thought was cotton wool, it wasn’t it was rot. Cleaned the van up and like you made a couple of quid on it, next one I bought had perished window seals. Quickly repaired them and moved it on, you learn as you move up the ladder. I can now renovate houses to a very good standard and can avoid dodgy vans like this. Dig in Tam, you’ll turn it around. 👍
