Tam n pups winter trip 2022

I know it's not something you do but is it a good idea to put all this on here in case you do want to move it on?
I won't be moving it on Charlie, not at the minute anyway , I'll be fixing the van as best as I can , it's work I hadn't planned on but I'm in the situation now and will just have to deal with it.

Hopefully once it's done it will be a good van again.

I suppose paying only 10K for it you should expect these things!
Not really. Regardless of price I expect a seller to be reasonably truthful. His eBay description made the van out to have been a well cared for clean van. He even went to the point of stating " the photos should give an idea of its condition " " all just been cleaned and polished" " professionally reupholstered at a cost of £1000 " etc

The 6 fairly new tyres are dated 2014 😕. He knew nothing about the van , never knew the weight etc . I suspect he bought it last year ...possibly cheap and then threw sealer around it hoping that would stop the leaks . He maybe used it for 1 or 2 weeks fairly local this year and then decided to offload it to some sucker.

No mention of mot due to expire , holes in bodywork , that he'd smeared silicone sealant around every window and seal , that there were numerous obvious leaks , I specifically asked him things like , does the step work OK ( because I know the one on my old mobilvetta didn't ) and he said it did etc ...it doesn't. He just told a shit load of lies.

That's why there was a bid on it too because people naturally trust the description provided.

Had he told the truth I wouldn't have put a deposit on it or travelled down simply to collect it.

He knew that, and decided to just play ignorant and lie. I know it's buyer beware etc and it's up to a buyer to check things etc . But when things have been covered up that's difficult to do .

So yeah it's partly my own stupid fault for how I did the deal , but he was a lying scumbag

Had it went on the auction and someone had won it on a bid I'm pretty sure they wouldn't have bought it.

Read his description and look at his pics.

Bare in mind he's also a professional photographer.

Tam, some sellers can be pretty awful liars but you’ve got the van and the skills to fix it I’m afraid you’ll just have to suck it up and make yourself and the bowfs a great van 👍😁
Anyway you’ll get a bigger fanclub on here showing the fixes 😎 I know I’m enjoying it. Looking forward to the new thread “Mobys Adventures” and “Lenny electrifies Moby”

I just hope the euramobil goes through its mot today with nothing needing fixed as I've so much work to do on this new one. And of course the weather has now changed so I'm dodging the rain aswell

Hire a good quality dehumidifier, simpler than buying a decent one (cheaper). You probably know this anyway.

Aye . Unless they moved France closer to Gainsborough this van never went to France in his ownership. Hes just a lying sod

That was the mileage last july 100895km . Its currently 102735km I did 420km driving it home. So roughly 1400km or roughly 800 miles since last july . He bought it in October 2022 so possibly had done a couple of hundred miles between mot and him buying it. So yeah there's no way he took this to France and back once never mind the few times he claimed when I was there buying it. He gave me a long very winded story about driving it down there over Christmas etc ...

You're being very stoic there Tam. As you say, can't win 'em all, and you will get it sorted and end up with a decent van I'm sure. It's a great layout in that van.

I could never lie like that when advertising a van - if anything I tend to go the other way and highlight too many small factors. But then again I look after vehicles properly and don't bodge sealant everywhere!

Yeah and I do the same . Im here getting the euramobil motd right now and I'm so bloody anxious in case it fails on anything... I'm fussy with my motors and normally have all advisories etc sorted but I do know I've done 10000 miles in this last year and on some really bad roads in Morocco so who knows.

It wasn't due till September but buyer wanted a new mot on it.

Should have done like the bugger I bought the mobilvetta off and said naw lol

I just don't want to have to spend time fixing anything while the new ones gets wetter .

Well at least the euramobil has passed the mot , it does have a couple of advisories this time but that's because I've a pretty strict mot garage.

It has outer protectors on the brake flexi hoses to stop any chaffing...the outer protection has slight perishing. And there's slight play in steering rack inner joint.

So nothing drastic.

One worry less Tam(y)

He called himself Tom in the Winnebago ad but called himself Craig in the Mobilvetta ad so clearly a BIG chancer! He also says he would buy the Winnebago from his parents but has just bought a property in France 😂🤣😂🤣

You are right there. Something should be done about him, but what?

Well…. As with most of your vans Tam you will get to know them intimately, with this one you will get to love it as you will have fixed most stuff on it so if a problem comes up you’ll know what to do to sort it. Better to find all the problems now then when abroad somewhere. I’m sure it will only increase in value with the work you put into it, you could always take it to Morocco and let the clowns loose on it for 100€…😆😂😎
