Tam n pups winter trip 2022

I do like the look of that classic Hymer, on a Merc chassis with a manual box, twin RWD (no sprintshift woes) and its been turbo charged at 63K.
If the underside/chassis is acceptable for age, and it runs well up hills, then it looks like an extremely cheap deal to me. Just allow for a freshen up, new curtains, mattress maybe, plus a load of new solar & extra Battery capacity. No Doubt as Lenny has already expressed his admiration for these lovely classic Hymars he will be only too happy to assist in the upgrading of the off grid power dept. His HD Cable Crimpers could do with another workout to save em getting rusty before his new van arrives.(y):giggle:

If u'r seriously in the market for such a beast at that price you need to get down to see it.
With your mechanical knowledge you should be able to spot if it's a lemon.

I've just spoke to the owner who is pretty clueless to be honest , he lived in Scotland till 8 months ago so the work on it was done up here in Dumbarton. He doesn't know a great deal about it . Garage done the welding on it , it's registered as plg with dvla although it's 4.5t

No probs though as I could get that changed .

But he has a viewer going at 11 o'clock today so there's a chance it might be sold.

I was going to offer him 10k for it lol but there's not much chance of him accepting that just now if folk viewing it so I'll wait and see if it's sold or not later.

It's a nice looking van and my thoughts were I could add a few things to it and make it how I want it .

But the earliest I could view it would be Tuesday as I'm working all weekend and I've a viewer for mine on Monday from York.

I guess we will see what happens , but that's the kind of thing I think I would like . Older simpler mechanics, good build quality, a bit of character, merc based and lhd

My Mobilvetta was on ebay with a 'buy it now' on it 200 miles away. It had only just been listed. I did MOT history check, HPI, rang the seller who sounded genuine (he was as it turned out) told me he had viewings the next day. I knew it would be sold so I hit the buy it now. Rang him straight after and paid £500 and the listing ended. He had plenty of calls complaining about what had happened. I still have the van and am as happy as the day I collected it.

Aye it doesn't have a buy it now its a classified add .

If the viewer at 11 don't buy it I'll phone him again this afternoon

I wouldn’t buy it though without going down, he reversed into a hedge so that needs checking

Also some of the locker doors, especially if there’s one on the back panel, can go spongy.

Quality build, but It’s all in how it’s been looked after the last 30 years.

I read the listing - if it was something I wanted at the right price I would happily buy it blind after making MOT and HPI checks and talking to the seller

Aye there's always risks but it looks pretty good and I'd take a gamble at 10k . Nowt on it that can't be repaired.

Yeah me too. I was going to offer him 10k for it on the phone if he hadn't had a viewer coming.

No point offering him less till they've been as he'd just use my offer as a negotiation point with any other buyer.

If they don't buy it I'll make that offer to him later. I wouldn't offer the full 12 without seeing it.

He might hold it for you with a deposit £100 to show you are interested and actually go to view it, if he gets grumpy if you don’t buy it’s the train and £100 gone but not the world ending.

Aye but not while he has viewings . I'll phone him back in a few hours by which time the person that's meant to be viewing now will have either bought it or not.

Think you should think before commenting on people selling and especially interested in buying yours as some of them are probably members or at least viewers on here.
