Tam n pups winter trip 2022

Hi Tam, just watched a you tube video on the Vanlife show at Stratford earlier in the month.
They even had a sign up amongst the vans for sale ,called Vario Row/Road, loads of Vario self builds up for sale, I guess you have seen most of them on line...so whats the score do you reckon, why are many giving up vanlife?, why would they want to sell off their Varios?
LES
There's one reason only that most of these varios are for sale. The hope of turning a crazy profit.

Because a few sold last summer for crazy money everyone else is jumping on the bandwagon.

They were never vanlifers though they were weekend users.
None of the ones I see for sale were lived in and none are "off grid" either.

I've had another 2 phone calls about the van this morning.

One from another guy called John in Norfolk who was on the phone for a while and seems genuine , waiting on him finding a way to come view it as he's a 7 hour drive away .

The other call was from motorhome depot who want to sell it on my behalf , so they're coming out a week on Wednesday to evaluate and see if I want them to handle the sale for me .

Can't hurt I guess as it's a no obligation visit.

No experience of them but I think I'm right in thinking they will tell me if they can get my price and they add their commission on top of that. If that's the case then fair enough.

The person who phoned on Friday saying they were wanting to come today and asked address etc were obviously just timewasters again as they never got back in touch this morning.

Still getting 150+ views daily on the advert.

The hymer I was interested in has sold I think , marked up now as deposit taken

Yes it will be interesting to see what they come up with.

I will be interested what they say to you too . I’m thinking of changing my LHD Carthago but the thought of a load of time wasters puts me off . Have read various reports good and bad about motorhome depot . I did get a valuation from one of those we buy anything . com outfits but what they offered was stupid . They keep on e mailing me but Hell will freeze over before I let it go for that silly valuation offered.

Aye I had a dealer phone me about 2 weeks ago and offer £28 which means he hopes to get £38k which is about right going by the 2 that were on when I first listed mine.

But I'm not selling it for that.

They offer part exchange and can arrange finance and warranty and to some this might be the deal maker.
I’m not sure how the part exchange works, we enquired about a van on motorhome depot years ago, as I remember the px area works in such they contact some dealers, who then contact you and offer pennies, which is what they did to us.

The old fella that's buying it was the guy from Norfolk that phoned yesterday , he spent another 45 minutes on the phone this morning and decided he was not coming to view it then coming back so he hasn't seen it just the photos etc.

But he seems happy enough and has paid a £1500 non refundable deposit on it.

I'm putting a years mot on it for him so will have to book that in for next week .

Oh dear
Tam's = no van
What's next?
Caravan?
Move in with mum?
How is she?
Patience of a saint!
That's what makes Tams posts so interesting you get variety of every kind he tells it how it is and always interesting, can't wait for the next chapter.
Good Luck Tam on which ever direction you choose I've no doubt it will have some twists and turns.

Well I have 3 weeks to find something else. But if not I'll just move in with mum for a few weeks till I see something. Or I'll buy a cheap 4 berth caravan till I find a van

You’ve only have to point him in the direction of this thread to see what it’s like.
Have you took any stuff off ready to go in/on next van.

No he's getting it as it is now . I'm getting what I asked for it so I'm quite happy with that.

He's quite happy as it's free money he's spending I think.

Poor fella lost his wife at the start of the year and it's his first motorhome for him and his 2 greyhounds.

The BBC are using his house for a TV programme and basically the money he's getting from that is buying the motorhome and leaving him a bit extra

Blimey you do know how to wring deposits out of people.
It's the modern way uncle lenny . He did offer though as he doesn't get the money till July 12th . Can't hold it for 3 weeks without a decent deposit

I personally wanted £2k deposit
