Tam n pups winter trip 2022

Not everyone who views a Motorhome and doesn’t buy though is a time waster. You have to go and see them to get a feel of it, first impressions and all that.

I wonder what that guy would have done that offered you 32k if you had said ok I’ll accept it?
I did say I'd accept it and asked for a deposit. At which point he said he had 2 others to see and wasn't paying a deposit. He was a timewaster.

The guy from edinburgh that came twice to view it only had 28k so he was a timewaster.

The guy who bid on ebay and agreed at 32.5k backed out when asked for a deposit.

They've all been timewasters.

I make offers on things I've not seen but if those offers are accepted then I give a deposit and go buy it.

If you want to view things then you don't make an offer till you've viewed it.

I've had other enquiries that haven't made offers etc they just haven't committed to viewing it etc. I don't class them as wasters.

But if you know you are 5 or 6 k short of asking price then why go view things .

Maybe advertise at your firm lowest price and state No Reduction in price and Hagglers are not welcome.
In past experience that's never worked. Folk just naturally want to bid lower . And I'm not selling it for less than 32k .

Not without removing stuff first

Yea I wouldn’t really have any serious debate or dialogue with anyone who hasn’t viewed, they’re obvious time wasters.

We went to look at loads before buying I even drove from County Durham to Brighton thinking it was the right one, turned out a pile of rubbish. Then drove to Cologne, one ferry, 2 hotels, well over 1000 miles total. Again sh1t. The fruhstukraum was lovely in one of the hotels though, never had so much lovely grub for breakfast.

I think the truth is you enjoy the cut and thrust of wheeler dealing and like the banter.
Probably, with genuine buyers, but not the 98% of idiots that don't even bother to kick the tyres before trying to 'cut a deal' that they don't have the money to even pay a deposit for, let alone 'seal the deal'

Not with idiots Charlie I've bought and sold stuff for decades now and never had as many wasters as I've had this year. There's now a load of folk out there just looking for interaction. Like they're playing a game.

I'm afraid that is how the whole world is heading.

I think you have a very good point there.

A lot of people live in a fantasy world of computer games nowadays and it’s not until you ask for hard cash that they actually wake up. 🤷‍♀️

I can't see how they stop timewasters to be honest . Will still get people viewing that won't buy it.

Estate agents don't stop browsers from viewing houses because you never know who's a timewaster till after they've done the time-wasting.

Sure it might cut out the texters etc but thats about it.

And the way I see it is If I can't sell it at £35k they won't sell it for more to cover there fee. The only thing they can do that I can't is perhaps offer finance

Most of their agents know little about the vans as I've enquired about several they've been selling.

So I'm not convinced.
They check the intending buyers finances and ability to pay, their commitment to the purchase and if it is the right van for them.
Then, and only then will they bring the viewer to see the van. The purchaser does not know you or the van’s whereabouts before.
The only downside for you I believe, would be the commitment to giving them 90 days exclusive.
I know that the agent that sold mine had several enquirys but only one couple came to view and they bought.

Absolutely, and when all the Banks have shut as we continue to pay with plastic and phones there won’t be any money in real terms it will be a number on a computer screen, all you will see is a figure no physical money.

I doubt many people have been paying >£30k in cash for many many years so it's only numbers moving from one account to another.

Hi Tam, I’m selling a scooter on gumtree Suzuki address 110 only 1650 miles and the number of time wasters is unbelievable!
Advertised at £1850 or nearest off and people telling me it’s only worth £1300 or how fast does it go mister types or would you swap for a cb125 that’s been sitting in my mums garden for 6 months!!!!
Feckin w*nkers
I’m fed up already and it’s only been 2 weeks 😐

The point being if needed you could have access to cash looking forward you will not have that option.
On a personal level l have done transactions and ended up with in excess of £200k in cash.

I can't see the point, you either have the money or you don't, eliminating the cash transactions makes the whole process a lot safer even taking cyber crime in to account. The people Tam are dealing with clearly don't have the money and see it as cheap entertainment.

I don’t think people realise the long term implications of a cashless society, any transaction you make will have to be documented by your banking activity, therefore, say someone not dissimilar to Tam does a bit of ducking and diving buying and selling the odd Car/Motorhome/Scooter etc any profit will be documented, proof of purchase and proof of sale and any profit would be subject to income tax being payable. l keep saying it but nobody listens, we are heading toward a Controlled Society at an alarming speed.

Yes I completely agree with you

There will be no more hiding money for a rainy day.

But it doesn't help with me selling my van at the minute.

And if its no sold there won't be a winter trip this year unfortunately.

Me neither. I'd be suspicious of anyone insisting on cash for a major purchase to the point that it would put me off. One positive change that came out of Covid was the increase in outlets using contactless payments and the limit increase to £100 per transaction. On a related subject I found out recently that there is no, or at least a very high, limit on contactless transactions using a smartphone.

If you don't sell it you will be able to do another trip in that one.

I'm not asking anyone to pay it in cash , just for them to actually have the funds

Tam I think your van is very much for a full timer or for someone who is going to make longer trips as you have done . You are quite right in what you say , selling with Motorhome Depot or an agent of some description won’t stop the time wasters . It’s just something that we as sellers have to put up with . As a lady and I hate saying this, I do feel a tad vulnerable having people coming to look . After my experience with selling a car from my house and the so called buyer hanging around outside with their friends for an hour after I said I would not consider their stupid offer I will make sure I have another person with me if anyone comes to view !
Best of luck it only takes one, there will be someone genuine out there for your van

Damn. I hoped that you were going to sell it to me. ;) Perhaps you could do two at the same time and earn some readies.
Which one ? The vario may be for sale if the right offer.

It's mad when you see these variations In price

And there are lots more on at the minute , I think there are about 10 or 12 varios on ebay just now ranging from 5k to 60k

There's a lot better vans than that one at 60k for around the 20 - 35k mark

The folk selling the 60k one have never used it they built it purely to sell

I follow them on Instagram and I think there's about 20k plus labour invested in that.

As you well know the danger with buying an "already done" MH is what condition the base vehicle was in and how well the work was done. A "quick roller" paint job can hide a multitude of issues, likewise all the interior fittings. And again as you know, when T2's and Vario's rot they can be horrible.

Yep I know

60k o dear it looks like it's built by someone with a wickes loyalty card
It's a little crazy price. So many nicer ones advertised at present for half that.

The one at 32k I really like. But not sure I'd even pay that for one.
