Tam n pups winter trip 2022

I planned to try saga etc once back in Spain.
Bloomin'eck, you're not that old are you??

Since turning 50 I find myself shouting expletives at the television everytime I see an advert for a "Over 50's plan", usually featuring 2 old duffers wandering round a garden centre or similar stereotype.

The late great Jeremy Hardy did his take on a script for those adverts in the garden centre - "See that shovel? Isn't it just like the one they buried Dave with last week? Better get an over-50's plan quickly!"

Just turned 50 thought I'd give them a try to see

Tam, if you intend to overnight on Friday between the Ferry Port and Estepona give me the heads up and l’ll pop along and say hello.
Unless you know of somewhere nice to park up around estapona I'm not sure I can stay around there tonight. There doesn't seem many options on park4night

You're not in Morocco with no phone except WhatsApp 😁 I planned to try saga etc once back in Spain. The 12th is a week away.
Err ... not quite and there's Easter in between ...
Alternatively I'd put the insurance on monthly payments till I sold it so I wasn't paying out 600 quid in one go
Just make sure that if you do so that you don't end up having to pay a daft admin fee etc to cancel it or owe them some dosh due to cancelling it so soon ... most don't do this but some may.

I'd give Hastings Direct a wide berth if I were you. I know someone else who has had a battle royal with them over a straightforward claim.

I only need 1 day before renewal to try and change companies.

but either way i didnt want to pay the year insurance up front for maybe only a month or so cover.

the mercedes is already insured with adrian flux and not due for renewal till july. By which time ill have decided whether im building it or buying another camper.
I'm hoping this one will be sold long before then

The difference being if they have my money I've to get it back . If they don't have my money they've ro try and get it 😁

Been a busy day food shopping , filling with lpg and fresh water. So now parked up in San Diego soth of estapona, will collect my scooter and drone tomorrow and probably stay in malaga tomorrow night as I need to buy some brake pads for the van hopefully on Monday

Once you get within two weeks of renewal date prices go up.

Just had my renewal gone up £49 but 10 of that is the breakdown cover, normally with Comfort it only goes up between 2 & 10 quid. Probably won't bother shopping around as most people appear to have had big increases this year. Hopefully will be cancelling within 6 months when the new van comes & I'll shop around then.

Where in Spain were the vets that gave 3 year rabies vaccinations? I think maybe bobandjanie mentioned one but can't remember the others . I'm Looking to have my 3 vaccinated in the next few days on route up the coast .

Also if anyone knows and good vets near the border of France for the worming that would be handy . My ferry is early morning on 21st so I plan to get them wormed on 17th before I cross in to France

I'm pretty much retracing my steps through France using the same stops I did on the way down

do not mention that you are out of the UK .most won't insure you
I think your are correct there. My renewal is due on 26th didn't have the info until after we had left home and not back in the UK until the 5th May so have no option except to renew with current insurers.

Yeah I'm most likely going to stay with safeguard just now till I sell the van, mainly as it includes eu breakdown cover etc....I'd just prefer to pay monthly than the year upfront.

Don't they do a monthly option? You could get them to refund and do that instead.

Yes that's the plan .
How I always seen it, you agree to pay a years premium but on installments, you don't necessarily get a month at a time and they are not bound to let you off the unpaid months.

Yes, you have to read the small print carefully, when paying monthly you are entering a credit agreement, the credit pays the full premium which is why it usually costs more overall, as it's a credit agreement though you need to know if terminating it will incur a settlement/admin fee. This will be detailed in the renewal info if Tam can get his mitts on it.

It doesn't matter anyway as safeguard making it way more complicated to change it than necessary. So I need to leave it in place till I'm home then I'll cancel it . Most likely at a big loss.

Brake pads changed just in time.

I checked these in tafroute and they still had loads left on them . I guess all those mountain descents and hard braking for pot holes and hidden bumps wore them down fast. Fortunately they held out and no damage to discs

I think the ones I removed were the originals
