Tam n pups winter trip 2022

Perhaps they only switch the machine on once in every dozen vans/trucks... cost savings?

From that experience I had there's usually 3 vehicles on it at a time and it doesn't move that slowly ...I think it's a quick glance on the screen. In fact I think most folk they catch will be folk that try to avoid the machine ...after all if you've nowt to hide you won't avoid it but if you have you will . I saw 2 very loaded cars being searched but no campers ,motorhomes etc.

The sleeping tablet thing made me worry they were going to leave it in the van.
I think they planned to do that on the actual boat and for departing on the Spanish side.

But it's not a big dog from the pics I've seen it's about jade's size.

From where I saw the xray machine at tangier it was nowhere near any passport checks or any other booths , personally I think it would be absolutely doable to take a dog through there and just carry it out the van with you during the xray.

As I said its not me that's doing it , they have decided to take that chance. Whether they succeed or not who knows , I'll see what they say next week .
Perhaps just let them know exactly that Tam. I was worried about the sleeping tablet bit!! Maybe better to just stand with the dog while the Xray is being done:whistle2:

I obviously haven't done the return trip yet but did anyone pay any attention to your dog on the return?

I've heard numerous folk say they've not even been asked for dog passports. Which kind of makes a farce of the titre tests and health checks etc

A few people, me included, think that on the Spanish side, they know you've got the export certificate for your animal, and it's linked to your vehicle reg - the vet and PIF both look at your V5. So when they see you go through, back into Spain, your vehicle shows up in their systems as animal OK to import, no need to check. That doesn't mean there was no point getting the export cert in the first place.

You do give us some good stuff to think about Tam (y)
I understand both sides if the argument for them doing what they plan. I guess it's the divide between morally right and legally right. But from what I can see they're trying to give a young female pup a chance.

One of the reasons I am not spending too much time with any strays here as I'm not letting myself get attached to any. I've squared it in my head that I'll give them a bit of attention and a few meals and water and leave them too it.

Many ate perfectly happy with the lives they have, others clearly crave human interaction and attention. Dogs are sociable creatures they aren't all just looking for food some want company that's how I end up with several coming for walks and a play on the beach with my ones

No but my point being if you didn't bring one in to Morocco and no one does a physical check when departing Morocco then the system is flawed .

There's no threat to Morocco bringing dogs here. The threat is taking them to Europe apparently yet no one checks the health of the dogs returning even if they've been here for months.

Yeah, that does seem broken.

I didn't want to risk any complications or chance of not getting mine back in to Europe so I did what was required. Same reason I left my drone in Spain etc.

But I'm surprised at the loopholes they have left

Anyway I'm now in essaouira, parked up and ready to go explore the medina . I'm just trying to decide whether to take the dogs with me or leave them in the van

So are the authorities only paying lip service to canine health concerns... and all the bureaucracy is about revenue generation and politics...

🍿
It's always bureaucracy, I'm for a border free world to be honest. I like the shengen idea , or I did when we had freedom within it .

They do and I left my drone in Spain because of it. And have since spoke to several on Instagram who brought their drones and other things over with no issues. And many have said they don't even pay attention to the dogs when leaving 🤷‍♂️

I didn't want to take the chance myself but if others do and they get away with it . Good on them
I stand corrected. Not sure how the hell it works.

There are some who could suggest ...perhaps fear

Like the TV licence detection vans lol

Who knows, but I'm genuinely surprised I wasn't pulled over and searched.

I think I've just been tourist wallet raped

Passed a shop/stall in the medina with spices . Having bought some before that cost me 9dh I never thought to ask the price first 🤦‍♂️ so I got some ras el hanout , some chicken tajine mix , and some chicken n lemon mix

And then I got hit for .....drum role 260 Fiddlesticksing dirhams . I thought I'd mjssheard him but no 260dh

That's about 20 quid.

Lesson learned

So, as long as you have one legitimate animal you’ve, effectively, got carte blanch to bring other animals back with you.
