Tam n pups winter trip 2022

On your way out did you look back to see if they had put the "Closed" sign up :giggle:
Alright alright lol.

It wouldn't be so bad if it had even been one of the stalls that just sold spices. But it was a tourist shop and I can guarantee the owner was wealthy by morrocan standards. ...I was looking at something else when the spice jars caught my eye.

It's a learning curve and it won't happen again.

Well I'm back at the van essaouira is nice, it's cleaner than other medinas and more polished which for me isn't actually that good , I think I prefer the worn , rustic ones I've visited. But then it's mobbed with tourists and everything is sky high prices...I asked the price of a few throws ...900dh, 1000dh ....that's ludicrous. Even the poncho type hoody I got they're asking 600 and 700dh in some shops ... and people are paying it. I'll buy my throws in non tourist places instead I think

So apart from my spices I bought nowt else.

There are no motorhome signs everywhere here so after lunch I'll be heading south to find a parkup

Oh and I saw the fattest dog I've ever seen in my life , couldn't get a photo as him and his 2 friends were very barky and aggressive, poor jade shit herself so I had to shoo them away with the help of 2 stall holders ... but it was incredibly fat like a balloon with legs ... really unhealthy

Perhaps because people in motorhomes keep feeding it. ;)

Lost count of the amount of times I have been conned on my travels (y)

Trouble is Ground Spices dont last that long, even in a sealed container, some say 3 months at most before they lose flavour. I now put my hands up and admit to keeping some of mine much longer, even if they have lost some of their original zing.
Get some glass jars on the go Tam, and eat Tajines every day for a year, you might get through that lot you bought.:giggle:

Aye I tend to ignore dates on spices anyway , the reason they were invented was to prolong and disguise meat lol. They'll last a while but yeah I'll have to keep my jam jars

We once got stung by a Dutch woman selling cheese at the market in Sarlat, I nearly fainted at the price 😅
Never just ask for cheese on a French market, make sure you know how much your actual piece is first.

Northernraider big thanks for this thread, it was on my wish list to visit, but John vetoed it, so enjoying the photos and information, can sit back read and pretend I have been there.

I watch to see how much the locals are being charged before buying, but had a laugh in italy thought we were buying 2 large bread rolls, but no it was 2 packs of 4 so at least the price wasn't too bad and they kept really well

Thing with these french cheese stalls the price can be anything, by the kg, by the half kg, by the gram or by the piece or by whatever they can think of to get your money.

They will keep for 6 months in an airtight container. I heard a Indian chef on TV recently who advised keeping them in the fridge. Not so sure about that as there could be a build up of moisture.

Only time I was ever conned in a French market was at a cheese stall in Sarlet market. Not the Dutch lady, but a couple of blokes selling Brebis cheese nearer the non food market in the square without the cafes. Not only was the price extortionate but he gave me change from 30 euro rather than the 40 I had given him  His loss in the long run - we never shopped there again and we do like brebis cheese.

Another surfing spot , not much here bar the beach
But there was camels , horses and a few old mercs .

Left over spicy chicken from last night ...

But it’s the experience that you want!
If you don’t experience life how would you know what is good and easy, or what is hard .
That is why you travel isn’t?
If all you wanted was a easy ride , stay at home.

From what I have seen of Tam's experience of Morocco so far, unless some people can counter with good experiences and better views, I think I might give it a miss.
Theres always benidorm lol

As for paying too much for items, I find we are too polite.
I for one just pay up.
Saying that I did once refuse, left the items that I had hoped to purchase, and walked away. ( Spanish market)
Still remember doing it!
Should remember that lesson as I still just pay, then bitch about it after.
