Tam n pups winter trip 2022

It was never a branch of FIAT AFAIK. They had an agreement and I believe FIAT had shares in the business. However not a majority holding. I believe they basically used FIAT parts ( a lot of parts....well all of the parts) with their permission. They were ahead of their time maybe. They fell out in early 80's

Its fair to say they were really brand engineered but they were manufactured in Spain. Or better described assembled.

Its different now as SEAT are wholly owned by VW since 1990
What I meant by its a branch of fiat was they were a partnership.. from the 50's to the mid 80's they produced pretty much all the Same models with slight differences and occasionally different model numbers .

Yeah seat is the Spanish branch of fiat ..a lot are pretty much identical but some are different. I think there was originally a 500L by fiat which was a similar size to the seat 600 .

The alpine is a nice car ...pretty rare too

But old stuff definitely had more character than anything modern.

If I ever had millions I'd have a garage full of old motors but very few newer ones .
My mum had a Fiat 600 back in the day. As you say, a bit longer, different engine and rear end and it had a "canvas" sliding roof.

OMG we're just on the east side of Almeria and we're thinking of going to Roc tomorrow... Will have to think again seeing as it's packed.

Hey, Tam, bit of reconfiguring with this one and you could get a donkey, car and camel in and a lovely paint job too!

Couple of questions for the Morocco folk

I've a friend on Instagram who's also heading over .

Any particular reason why folk use Carlos via tangier med and not go algeciras to cueta? Cueta is apparently cheaper .

Also how do you find Carlos

Jane And Rog have recently been to Carlos, I'd ask them.
I think they used Carlos because everyone here does.

My question is why everyone uses Carlos when the algeciras crossing to ceuta is apparently half the price.

Just wondering if there is a reason folk go that route

Carlos is 1 of the longest in the business and very reliable also very flexible about motorhomers & their needs, he's also located beside loads of big supermarkets petrol stations etc if you need to stock up before heading over and he's fairly handy to the port, he also gives every motorhome a present for going (wine, biscuits or cake)
As regards Ceuta personally never used it but have heard from others it can be a bollocks getting out of into Morocco border checks etc

Anyway we'll go and get our tickets together and by the time the Scots & the Irish have bargained him down he'll probably end up owing us money! 😂😂

Cheers ill pass on his info to them.

I had mentioned to them I planned to go that route and they were just asking why as it was more expensive. Its their first trip too and they've been keeping me informed about the vet they used in nerja etc so just trying to help them out

I get more and more nervous about Morocco every day .

I was reading Jane and Rogs blog and even things like the immigration stuff on the boat has me panicking as they said dogs not allowed in there etc but as I'm in my own where do I leave my dogs ?

I'm probably just getting stressed about nothing but jees I'll be glad when I've got past all the complicated stuff .

No need to stress big yin the dogs are allowed up in the lounge with you and the visa registration is just a matter of bringing the wee form with your details on it up to a hut where the boy just stamps it and gives you a number in your passport and that's you done & dusted in 5 mins takes longer to queue up at the hut than to register
So you'll be grand, no stress Tam it's bad for your complexion lol

Don't want to detract from this thread, but as you have been talking about range rovers, just a little YouTube for you to have a look at.

She asks "why"

Because they are shit and the electrics and mechanics are crap

Nothing wrong with the bodies it's the expensive bits that fail

Keeps saying " such a waste " its not a waste they are being recycled its a breakers yard.

And her idea of "mint" is different from mine lol I've yet to see a mint one

They both sound a bit thick to be honest. He thinks chrome exhausts and v8's are rare lol and doesnt understand the concept of a breakers yard ...quote of the day " theres nothing wrong with the car theyve just taken parts off " 🤦‍♂️🤣🤣
Better with a Toyota

On returning to the van there are a whole load of council workers on the waste ground opposite, I thought ..that's good they are cleaning up all the rubbish etc that's lying there .

But nope ...instead they just scrape it with their large rakes in to the bushes and leave it there 🤷‍♂️ , really surprised by that as I always thought the gardeners , beach workers etc did a good job in Spain but this gang are a bunch of lazy gits making more mess than cleaning it . Don't seem supervised and they spend more time on their phones than doing any work
