Tam n pups winter trip 2022

Rule 1
Doesn't take much to get ignored by Northernraider, just disagree with him and pop, yer off my thread pal. Can't say I've missed being on it.

Hey Tam - you probably know this, but in case not, where you are parked up at La Manga you're really close to the Calblanque Regional Park - beautiful unspoilt and protected coastline and beaches. The distances you are able to walk, it's probably not a lot more than a decent stroll to get there. Certainly easy on the bike. Not sure about taking the van - it's a long time since we visited, and I recall the access roads were unmade (we were in a car).

Definitely worth investigating if you're there for a day or two and haven't been to the park before. (y)

hell even Tam is on strike. What is the world coming to. I can take the nurses, the railway, the ambulance services and border control, but not our Tam:xsad:

There is a report button under each post. If someone is not breaking the rules but they are making a nuisance and ruining the vibe of the thread then report them and if that's the case I can thread ban them. Some will recall that this is exactly what happened on a Lenny HB thread a few months ago.
Jim
Thanks for clearing that up Jim and sorry it’s ate into a day that you should be able to relax on, I’m sure you don’t get that many free days.

Abuse keeps being mentioned, but I’m not seeing any abuse at all, let alone repeatedly. Can someone point me to the abuse in this thread? Thanks.
Jim
That was from a post of Tams reasoning why the said persons had been double ignored by Tam in the first place.
I hope that Tam takes the time to quote the offending posts and you can take a balanced look at them Jim.

A point of order. As in this thread it is referred to as Tam’s thread. I have also noticed this in other threads were people refer to it as their thread. Am I correct in saying the OP may start a thread, but the thread belongs to us all as members of Motorhomefun, what we pay our dues for.

Don't really understand what you are saying but this thread is definitely Tam's thread as far as I'm concerned. We might go off at tangents but come back quickly. It's like his 'blog' without the name.
Other topics and threads may be started by people who want a general discussion eg the ubiquitous toilet threads and sometimes these become a general thread.

Depends on the content/topic IMHO.
Some threads are general discussion or advice seeking.
Some, like this one, are more travelogue or blog.

Forums thrive on content providers.
It's quite a lot of work to keep up a thread like this.

Don't agree if someone starts a thread it's there thread but it is open to contributions from other members.

If the contributers cannot control their outbursts and disrupt the thread they should be banned from the thread.

We always get thread drift that's all part of the fun but when its rude or delibitly taking the thread way off course just for ones selfish gain/point scoring it's just not on.

I had a problem on my last travel thread started out as a bit of fun but got totally out of order to the point of wrecking the thread and I had to ask Jim to remove the posts.

I even stopped posting for a few days, very nearly didn't go back to continuing the thread as I gained so much of my life back by not wasting time doing it.

How can this be posted when it says visiting Coventry on his avatar.
It was probably that post that got him sent to Coventry. Posts made before being sent will remain unless Jim consideres them too rude or insulting then he will remove them.

I’m of the thinking he’s being sent to Coventry due to breaking rule 1

But doesn’t that post get removed then?

We will agree to disagree. Saying no more.

Agreed, members do NOT own threads, they belong to all members of the forum to be able to contribute to, those on the OP's ignored list or not. If there are 'ignored' members purposely trying to cause issues, not just have a bit of fun, then other funsters can see this and report them, no need for the OP to get in a tizzy about it at all. Jim has enough to do without 'deciding' who owns threads and thus stopping anyone the OP doesn't want to see content from, from seeing it, that would be OTT censorship IMV.

If anyone wants a dedicated thread for their own use then they should start one on one of the many 'blog' sites and then they can allow people to view it or not. Unless you actually OWN this forum then it's up to Jim how he runs his.

I have no-one on ignore, never have despite having 'issues' with some members at times, but I put our silly spats etc to one side and continue to read the posts from them which has often meant helping them with something and/or we become 'buddies' again and all is forgotten. I know that I'm on a few people's ignore lists, no idea why, that's up to them, if they want to not see some of the useful stuff I post about that's their loss, but I won't lose any sleep over it nor be annoyed if they can read my threads if they want to in the future. As mentioned already if you aren't logged in you can see a lot of the forum stuff anyway - I know some who have me on ignore read my posts at times but I'm not childish enough to throw my teddy out of the pram and insist that Jim stops them ... I'd rather they be able to do this and sometimes glean info that is useful to them rather than 'deprive' them of something which may be helpful.

If you think the issues that some funsters have with others which are being discussed on here is 'bad' then IMV you need to reassess what you mean by that and should visit the MMM forum ... when I was on it it really did have some nasty types on it who could be classed as stalkers and worse. When it got to some members threatening to go round and physically assault others and making extreme personal verbal attacks on the forum members, which the moderators weren't dealing with, it was time to leave and I've hardly been back since, in fact the only time I go on it now is to find some info I'd posted on it in the past.

I regard this as Tam's travel thread but it isn't owned by him ... it's open to all members of the forum to access it if they so wish so long as they behave themselves, if not then funsters who can see serious mischief being made or serious disruption being caused can easily report it to Jim.

But doesn’t that post get removed then?
No, that'd spoil all the fun of being able to find out why they've been sent to Coventry! Us members of the NMC would be up in arms if Jim did that as he'd be restricting our 'freedom of information' rights.

I regard this as Tam's travel thread
Same here, in my mind it's "Tam's thread" because he started it to document his travels for those of us who're interested. And most of the content is posted/uploaded by Tam for our information & entertainment. I'm one of many who follow & appreciate his efforts. I think we'd probably all like to move on from this, let Tam cogitate & hope he decides to continue posting.

Its a crafter for me next time i think . (y)
I'm toying with doing my own conversion on a new van in about 3-4 years time, as we move from needing a family van to needing more one for us as a couple. We'd keep it for many years if we got it right.

On a new van it would be the Crafter / TGE, for definite. Looks like the best new base to me.

If I could find a really good, low miles, not rotten Vario I could be tempted - like the ex-Fire service one that Basevan had recently, auto box, air con, 40k miles, long wheelbase - but they are going to be like rocking horse poo to find.
