Tam, Jade and Franky's European Adventure

Bitches are usually about 10 onths old before they come in season for the first time, although of course not having an actual birthday date for her as you say you will have to keep an eye on her. But don't always believe what the horny males are telling you!
I dunno Google says small breeds can go in to heat around 4 months old which would make sense as the birthdate they've given on her passport is 14 December.
She's getting steralised in July which the vet seemed to think would be after her first season.
I dunno ...i might be imagining it as she isn't behaving any different.
Will keep an eye anyway

She isn't what I'd call a "small breed"but I've never actually met her ( I think of chihuahua's, mini Yorkies) so I guess she might be. .
Vets in the UK these days don't reckon to sterilize bitches until ideally 3 mnths after their first season - it apparently lessens the chances of mammary cancer in later life .

Oh ..thats uncanny how similar even the markings

How old and do you know the breeds?
the vet tells me she is a Paterdale terrior

What They Are Like to Live With
Patterdale Terriers are friendly and inquisitive. Pals to everyone, they get along with all personality types. However, they are also supremely confident and energetic. Patterdale Terriers may look cute and cuddly, but in fact they have energy to burn. Keep them exercised and occupied with tasks, and they’ll be perfectly happy household pets.

Things You Should Know
Patterdale Terriers need fresh air, long walks and room to run. Apartment living is probably not best for them. When walking your Patterdale Terrier, always remember the leash. These dogs are quick and curious.

Patterdale Terriers can live as long as 13 years with relatively few genetic health problems. Their coarse coats—whether smooth, broken or rough—need little in the way of maintenance. A good brushing every few weeks will keep them looking fine.

Patterdale Terrier History
Patterdale Terriers were developed in England’s Lake District to catch rats, foxes and rabbits. For many years, the Patterdale was found mainly in northern England—a well-kept secret among the locals. Tough and determined, the Patterdale Terrier continues to be cherished as a hard worker and a true friend.

She definately looks similar
I’ve known a couple of patterdale terriers, but they were the wiry type. Nice dogs.
But if you look on google images there are a lot like Jade short haired.
It was a toss up between a border terrier or a patterdale when we got our first family pet , Ruby. Border won though. We went on to get Buster another border.
This sums up a terriers personality ( it’s a patterdale too)

Definately has that token 1 ear up 1 ear down lol.

Moved along to Almeria today, quiet carpark about 300 yards from the beach....see how it does for the weekend.
Market in the carpark near it In the morning and then I'm about 15 minutes by bike from the centre but i Want to see the cathedral and fort so I may well leave jade in the van and scoot in to town for a couple of hours tomorrow after she's had a walk to tire her out :)

And still despite all the blankets I got for her she prefers to snuggle up on my fleece :)

When I was a yoof my parent's dog, a border collie, used to make a beeline for the overalls I used to wear when working on the various old motorbikes and cars that I had. The overalls had oil, de-greaser and so on on them - even after washing the smell must have been really overpowering for the dog - but he always wanted them to curl up on and go to sleep, even to the extent that he'd steal them from the washing basket and carry them off to his bed. It's funny what they like!

Just been a really long walk on the beach ...its impossible to limit her to 15 minutes she jist has so much energy

Nah, everyone knows to throw away the beans *before* you put the water in and put a teabag in instead, much nicer.....;)

Well after I'd gone a nice long walk on the beach with jade this morning i popped her back to the van and I cycled along to the town centre and visited the cathedral and the alcazaba fortress. This has been used in many famous old movies and recently in game of thrones. Like most old castles and forts in spain it's a bit rundown but looks like restoration is taking place.

On the way back I saw this huge mound of flowers kids drawings and candles ( last pic) and wasn't sure what it was but I asked a local lady and apparently a young 13 year old lad drowned here just recently and this is a sort of memorial thing from his school friends etc ....very sad.

Just been for a walk on the beach and it's true puppies are like girl magnets .....and jade is great at wrapping her extending lead round them so they can't escape :p

And then we met a solo travelling Belgian girl in a camper who had dog treats but no dog

Now that's a weird coincedance is it not :)
