Tam, Jade and Franky's European Adventure

Well that was a good achievement today ...managed to leave her in the van on her own for an hour and she just lay down and slept.
Puts my mind at ease a bit for leaving her when I go to the supermarket etc.

Made a big fuss off her when I came back so she knows she's a good girl

You said you'd wait and find the right dog for you, wow you have found a good one, loving following your exploits together.
Yes I think so Carol.....i think she was meant for me ....born around the same time I left home to come to Spain :)

She's on 3 meals a day just now .....although I think she's gonna be a grazer as she still had half her breakfast at lunch time lol ..

She just picks at it ...but shes had some strawberries too

Yes you are correct she should be on 3 small meals a day at her age and then cut down to 2 slightly larger meals at 6 months..keep her on 2 meals until she is 10 -12 months old , some people feed one large meal when adult but I find it best if you give her a little in the morning and main meal late afternoon or early evening which ever suits best.

If you keep your finger pressed down on the n key you should get this - ñ or ń ņ ň. The same for any other letter that is used with accents etc.

And dont feed her any of the sh1t foods which contain animal derivatives. BARF diet and she'll thrive.

Yes did work!!

It won't be long before she's swimming! :D

I didn't realise how quickly dogs swim until I swam alongside ours - they do it effortlessly and are very steamlined.
Think it must be genetic,,don't think they learn they just do it automatically,,makes humans pathetic eh,,One of mine jumped in the canal at 9 weeks old and just swam,,,,BUSBY,,

Im well jealous of jade tonight ....we went to bed just after 11pm .....the stoopid gas alarm went off at 1.15 ( does this randomly for no reason) woke us both up ...she wouldn't go back to sleep in the crate kept whining so I let her out and put her blanket on the sofa. She jumped up lay down and fell fast asleep

I on the other hand have been wide awake since and can't sleep and she will likrly wake up for the loo in an hour or so

Don't think she's keen on the crate at all

She sounds like a big star you may find as long as she has plenty of exercise & brainwork before you want to leave her-for shopping or whatever- she will be ok, just make sure she has plenty to occupy her if she wakes & you’re not there.
Just one cirtisism (spelling) I think maybe you’re saying 'no' too much, try distraction and only use no for real important things otherwise 'no' won’t mean anything to her!
You two seem very happy with each other. :D

Morning you two. Every dog is different but Blue loved his crate throughout his life, liked the den feel. He’s just too stiff to get in and out now.

Try tempting Jade in with a few treats being thrown in and leave the door open so she doesn’t feel trapped anc can come out when she wants. You might find if the sofa isn’t an option she will use it but let’s face it, who wouldn’t prefer the sofa. She ain’t daft.

Yes I'm trying to cut down on the no and using distraction.

We are getting there:)

I know I'm grumpy from sleep deprivation today buy seriously what is it with the selfish idiots who don't pick up after their dog

Not only is it messy but when you can only go a 15 minute walk twice a day and there's a bloody poo every 2 feet to sniff you just don't get anywhere .....her nose is highly tuned and she doesn't miss a single one

Rant over

Good morning.

Just been to the aire to fill and empty now heading to the supermarket and then decathlon for a bike basket.

Then we're gonna go to lorca to visit @gus-lopez and then off to the hills tomorrow :)

Need a basket for jade though

Rucksack in the short term?
Yeah I tried that while walking which is ok but not ideal.

Just got a basket for her though :) now we just have to get her to stay in it ha ha

Dammit I've just spotted a huge market in aguilas wish I'd known that before I went to supermarket.

Ah well we go have a look anyway :)

Morning you two. Every dog is different but Blue loved his crate throughout his life, liked the den feel.

Indeed. We got a rescue dog many years ago, we were his retirement home, he was 9 or 10 when he came to us. We had a little triangular shaped space under the bottom of the stairs, perfectly collie sized - so we put a big bean bag dog bed in there.

Got our new dog home for the first time, let him wander around the house on his own to get used to it for a few minutes, then thought we'd introduce him to his new bed. Except we couldn't find him - where the hell is he? He'd snuck into his new "bedroom" all by himself and was fast asleep - poor lad was exhausted after the noise and stress of the kennels, he didn't emerge for over 24 hours! His little "bedroom" was perfect, out of the way but he could lay in there and see everyone coming and going as they went through the central hallway of the house.

What have you got inside the cage Tam for her to lay on? Needs to be as comfy an option as the sofa I'd say - we found dog bean bags to be a good option, with a fleece blanket over the top that can go in the washing machine easily, very comfy and supportive for the dog and they can "nest" themselves into it a bit. Leaving the cage open at night if you can sounds like a good idea to me.

ñ - just touch and hold the letter on Android to be given a choice of 'accents'.

I had blankets in the cage for her to lie on ....to be honest I'm not too bothered about her using the cage as long as she's content and non destructive I've no objection with her just sleeping on the sofa. The cage was initially for travelling and for when I had to leave her alone purely because you don't know if a dog is going to chew etc till you've had it a while.

She seems much happier being harnessed in on the passenger seat while we are driving and after last night seems to be more settled on the sofa.

So I think tonight I'll try her out of the cage and see how it goes again.

No sickness today either on the drive up from aguilas to lorca.

At @gus-lopez place now and she's been charging round the garden like a headcase with his dog Alfie. I've had to go put her in the van for a while till she calms down a bit.

The crate takes up a fair bit of space in the lounge of the van so if she's happier without it so am I really. ....so can only see how things go for a while.

Silvia at the refuge I got jade from just rescued these 4 siblings from the kill pound
Someone dumped them :(

Look at their wee faces ...i don't understand some people.
