Tam, Jade and Franky's European Adventure

Hi Northernraider
Our paths almost crossed in Jan when we were at Camping Tauro in Benicassim. We are not far from you again ,close to Mazarron and can recommend this wild spot that we are using. It is at the Erosiones de Bolnuevo right on the beach with room for many vans..On the edge of the small town with plenty of bars and restaurants .We probably stay over this St Patricks Day weekend. Some pics.Typing this using our chairs on the beach, just starting to get overcast.Been nice sunshine mostly.Thats my wife Glenda on right at Paella afternoon here in town.View attachment 219202 View attachment 219203 View attachment 219204
Thanks for that i will keep that in mind ...pocs look good and sounds ideal for a few days.
It's just getting overcast here too ...im out exploring the batterias outside cartagena at the minute

Enjoying lookinking at all these nice pic from both of you as it's a very cold and miserable day here in Kinross Scotland . Keep those pic coming.:D

Round of applause - heroic wine consumption between just the three of you... although Glenda appears she might be ready for a siesta ::bigsmile:...

:wine:

Well that was a bit nerve wracking after a morning of exploring all the nook's and crannies of the coastline down from la manga I arrived in cartagena .....i managed to bring the centre of town to a complete standstill by following the satnav and as the streets got narrower I found myself in a square with only one exit which I'd never have got franky down.
Fortunately a helpful policeman stopped the traffic helped me turn around and then walked in front of me back up the one way street is came down till we could get a street big enough to exit.

So I'm now a few km outside of town having a spot of lunch then I'll go explore by bike or scooter.

Found a couple of really beautiful spots on the drive down that you could overnight at but very remote and no internet signal etc.
Here's a few pics.View attachment 219179 View attachment 219180 View attachment 219181 View attachment 219182 View attachment 219183 View attachment 219184 View attachment 219185 View attachment 219186 View attachment 219187 View attachment 219188 View attachment 219190
Those pictures look like the beach at La Manga Club, surely you didn't get Franky down there?

This was a wee road that went right through the golf resort and out the other side ....you then hit dirt track all the way down to the beach

Brilliant! We have a break there every year, must confess never seen a motorhome driving through the resort before, might take mine next time instead of flying. Love restaurant at the bottom of that 'wee road', arm and a leg mind you.

Yeah if that restaurants had been open I'd have stayed there tonight but it was closed for season and was having work done on it by the looks of things.
Some loveky looking villas in that resort and a lot of them for sale ....looked very expensive though.
But stunning scenery around there. ...you have to pass a security guard barrier to get to it but the guard opened the barrier for me with no problems and There weren't any signs to say otherwise so I assume parking there us ok

Erosiones de Bolnuevo, lots park there but they do move people on occasionally, lovely spot though.
Ah ok I thought you meant here as I didn't see any.
I found the spot at erosiones de bolnuevo on park4night and it does mention signs but says the police are fine with parking they just tell people not to put chairs etc outside which is what I've found in a few places ....some idiots spoil it treating it like a campsite.
I'll have a look when in that area as it does look a nice spot and I want some ofbtgat paella:)

Hi tam,, pics look great mate,, glad your still enjoying everything,,, hope mums ok,, keep the pics coming, places look great!! Xx

Those storm clouds have now hit and it's pouring down so I'm hiding in the van out the rain.
Nice wee mediteranian restaurant near me on the beach that I'd planned to have dinner in but it closes at 7pm which is mad ....thats tea time Grrrrrr

Ah well I'm gonna have to cook then

I was going to say keep the helmet on they might still recognise you.:D2

A few pics of "batteria san isadoro y santa florentina " and of the harbour at cartagena

This is where I'm parked up for tonight View attachment 219248 View attachment 219249 View attachment 219250 View attachment 219251 View attachment 219252 View attachment 219253

Now you need to see the ones on the other side of the bay at Campillo de Ardentro ,just before you gate to La Azohia.
Far more interesting & with far more to see & the architecture is walt disneyesque. Take a torch as well as it is still possible to enter under the guns where the shells were brought up on mini railway tracks but there is a large opening in centre of the tracks.
They have done a lot of restoration work over the years & , as the article says , you can no longer drive right up to the actual guns as in the past.

For someone with an interest in the architecture & the machinery, if it hasn't all been nicked:unsure:,under the guns you can easily spend all day there.

I must admit I'm pretty chuffed with myself for cycling up there....id like to say it was easy but I'm knackered lol.

Took me just over 2 hours from leaving franky to the top ...and 25 minutes to get back down ...

Words can't describe the fun in coming back down ...exhilarating comes close but I was like a dog with its head out the car window ....brilliant fun.
I will have to get an off road bike though as those treks will kill my bike it's not built for that stuff ....but such fun.

I forgot to take a pic from franky looking up to that viewpoint before I left so here it is now.

In total it was 6 miles from here to the top.

My arms and legs are shaking now lol ....ill be sore tomorrow

Fancy a nice light Titanium MTB Tam, can bring it with me next month. I’m going to the Jerez MotoGP. ;)(y)View attachment 219460 View attachment 219461 View attachment 219462
Depends how much lol
Remember I'm a Scottish tightarse and not a professional cyclist lol ...so I'm in the cheap and cheerful range of pushbikes ....i was having a look at new ones in decathlon the other day

Problem is I'm not sure I've room in my garage for another bike on this trip cause I've the scooter in there too.

Well done you, a day of rest tomorrow well deserved. Super pics yet again. Am loving reading and seing the pics.
Will see how I feel tomorrow, I've still all the old Roman stuff to go and see in the town at somepoint and as I'm parked on the outskirts I'll have to walk or cycle in unless I dig the scooter out of the garage later ready for the morning.

Sunday tomorow though I must remember that.

I want to stay around this area for a bit because murcia and cartagena are apparently good places for the Santa semana celebrations that I really want to see

I can get the motorbike and 2 mountain bikes plus the table and chairs in my Frankia.View attachment 219466
I think I could get them in ...its just the convenience of being able to get the bike and the scooter out easily without having to empty the garage first.

I like that duke ....is that the 390?

Yes,we picked it up in December from Drysdales in Perth. I don’t have any pics of everything in with the 690 but it doesn’t take me more than 5 minutes to remove everything to get the bike out, pushbike either side of the proper bike. The tailgate on the Frankia is a real bonus.
