Can't beat a bit of local entertainment:)
Bagpipes are a truly magnificent sound .....unless I'm playing them :)

Stick with it my friend, when I said we have three to find new homes for I forgot to say that the cheapest one should fetch 450€...and that looks like it going on Tuesday...reduce from 600€.
Expensive game this biking...just bought 2 eBikes.....at the price of a small secondhand car. (BMW)...anyway if you are passing Totana call in for a night.

Are you entering tour de france???? BUSBY,,

I think that's the only way I could justify having an expensive bike ....i just don't use one enough.

I remember when I was a teenager being in my element as I bought a handbuilt "dawes " racing bike from my paper round boss at the time Mr barriah ....he sold it to me for £100 and let me pay it up at £5 per week out my wages ....it had cost around £700 - 1000 new when he had bought it

But I was right in to cycling when I was a teen then I learnt to drive and stopped sadly.

These days I hardly used one before coming on this trip but have been getting more in to it.
But still 20 -25 miles and I'm done lol .....and if never be seen dead in lycra:p

It's like cameras ....unless you know how to use one professionally there's no point really.

But I place different values on things than others usually ....

Yeah I'm just a nipper me Busby ....i started my paper round in 1986 at 13 years old ....i earned £5.40 per round for 6 days a week.
But by 14 I had 2 daily rounds and a Sunday round ....and then at 15 I also worked in the shop for 2 hours each evening stocking the shelves at £0.80 per hour.
I got on well with mr barriah and because I worked hard for him when I turned 16 and applied for my first real job as an apprentice mechanic he wrote me a 3 page reference which my new boss at taggarts dunfermline told me personally that gave me the edge on the 15 other applicants for that job.

At 15 I was making the most money a week among my friends but I worked hard for it. Up at 6.30 every morning , two paper rounds . Finished school at 3.45 worked in the shop from 5 till 7pm 6 days a week . And done my Sunday paper round from 7am on a Sunday

Slept most of a Sunday afternoon lol

But I was on around £25 a week.

My first real job at taggarts was £54.60 a week as a first year apprentice mechanic

30 of that was spent on 3 driving lessons a week as soon as I turned 17.
15 a week dig money to my mum

And that is why you appreciate life, it was not just handed to you, you had to work for it. So many youngsters today think life is a free ride. Well done to you.

@jumar @jumartoo I have sent you an email (I think). Would like to come Tuesday.
Sorry @Northernraider, hijacking your thread again.
Loving the pictures by the way, I expect we will follow some of your parking spots.

I'll check emails but I'll ask Paula for availability anyway. I'll send you a pm (conversation)

Hi @Northernraider
Been following your travels from page 1 and we are very jealous
Hope your enjoying yourself after your touch of homesickness and hope your mum is OK
Keep the posts coming mate

Because I will be downsizing my van when I'm back in the UK .
Hi Tam, I see that you seem to have decided to downsize now. As you have been doing a lot of wild camping would you have had any problems if you only had a cassette toilet if it needed emptying every 3 days?
Enjoying following your progress. Good to see you have ventured inland now, it looks very interesting.

Possibly but it's easy enough to have a 2nd cassette with any van.
I don't feel the size of the van has hindered me much ....maybe in a few places I could have parked easier. I just now feel it's unnecessary to have this size of van or carry the amount of stuff I am carrying. ..but I'd never lived in one this long before so it's all a learning experience :) ....
I think if you were parking up in one place for several weeks or months then this side of van makes a good house/base ...But as I like to move at least every 3 days then it's not required.
I think a 6 metre pvc or a smaller hymer with the drop down bed over cab will suit me fine after.
Had always planned to 're sell this van at the end of this trip anyway ....so I may advertise it whilst on my return journey and maybe someone with a smaller van looking to upsize can p/exch.

Don't think I'd bother with the scooter next time either , I'm getting more and more used to just using my pushbike when parked up.

We toured and lived in a 8.33 metre 6.4 tonne van and when finished I couldn't wait to get rid of it.
We too like wilding and moving on every few days same as you Tam so bought a much smaller one. We are just in the process of buying a 6.50 metre A class.
Some great photos and information you are providing, good stuff, I am enjoying reading this thread.

Tam, hows it hangin?
I just put uploaded a Pipe/rock band that we do like on the music thread, just for you, put on here also, thats how we like bag pipes played.
I expect you may have heard of the band, Skerryvore, very successful and accomplished now all over the place.
Enjoy, cheers man.

Les

Utterly brilliant - thanks for that. I love the pipes whatever they're playing but that was superb (y)(y). Now here's another I like:

I stopped it because I could not stand the audience sreaming/shouting - have they no respect for performers - Hurrumph

Hi Tam, Glad you liked Skerryvore, the scottish Rock Band, they are massive now in The UK, Playing at Bournemouth this week.
We just missed them playing at Inverness and Skye concerts last year, and the Tiree (TMF) one is fully booked for campervans already and its not until July!
And....They sing on most of their tracks, I just found you an instrumental one to show how I like the pipes played along some Bass Guitar & Drums. Check em oot on U Tube, you canne go wrang son, ken whit a meen?
Have a great day, keep us updated, as said we Funsters feel like we are travelling with you, better than any boring soap on the tele eh.

You have to be there to appreciate how much they get the audience involved with every live performance.
Their fan base follows them from Gig To Gig (as they say) and as well as that, a lot of them speak Gaelic, and they dont get out that much to celebrate "their own" Bands from their own culture, but if you were there, I guarantee you would be hooked, totally sent, and dancing with the vibe.:):)
