Tam, Jade and Franky's European Adventure

Where's @Charlie ? That's the work of the devil apparently !
I've used t cut for 3 decades ...
I wouldn't use it on grp so I used boat restorer on the front of my hymer.
But I used t cut on the sides and back followed by super resin polish.
And I have a mirror finish as a result.

If @nicholsong van is painted aluminium and the paint is flat then t cut will restore it.

I'll tell you another good use of t cut that will really raise temperatures of some.

It does brilliant at removing the scratches from your motorhome Windows:)

Something else I've been doing for years ....better than anything else it brings them up like brand new

I've not a single scratch on mine now and for a 14 year old vehicle that's almost unheard of

Is that on the acrilyc windows ?
That's useful to know, mine have tree branch scratches on them.
Your Hymer looks great now, well done.
Have you managed to get a shine on the grp front and high level rear sections ?
Always struggled to get those looking shiny on my Hymer.

Yep that's on the acrilic Windows...this had scratches also but it doesn't now ...it also had scratches along paint on the near side due to tree branches but they t cut out too.

I used grp restorer on the front and top back sections ...I've got some shine back on them but no where near as good as the sides unfortunately...they don't weather quite as well as the painted sides .

Difficult to see in pics but this window was fairly scratched

And that's the best I've got on the front so far but I'm doing it by hand as I don't have a buffer. It's better than it was and repells the water at least

I think you have guilt tripped half your readers in to getting out and spiving their vans up!
I was intending to do mine anyway, but now I feel I must get on with it. lol.

It's worth it... I've had several neighbours walk past the last few days and comment on how lovely Toby is looking :)

A lot of things that were used in the old days is frowned upon due to only a few of main paint finishes cellulose / synthetic /acrylic and isocyanite based paint but things work and it is down to individual choice what you use from rubbing down paper with soap or cutting down compounds and caution is required due to amount of finish now on vehicles.

Bottom line your van - your money - your choice - if you clean yourself and then spot any issues with paintwork you can then get it sorted - touch up paint paper cut and polish.

Charlie is right there are cheap ways to get desired finish but it wont last you get what you pay for.

I'm not quite as ruthless as tam but there you go.

Hope jade and your mum get on after hospital and kitchen issue - but company for your mum you may have to give her away for easy company for mum for a few weeks

When I got mine it was the same, plg yet plate says 3900 kg.
Soon sorted and vc5 soon arrived showing phgv

As long as they do vehicle road tax you should be fine. I had fun and games with the last car I bought, dealer didn't do his bit correctly so the docs came through with it still registered to a disabled driver, no road tax required!

As it was only £30 a year I just wanted to get it sorted, rather than get caught out trying to save 30 quid!

I did get a free trip home over the Dartford crossing though, for the same reason, when I went to pay online it said I didn't need to!

I just have to find a post office that can do it
Tam. I had hassle with a V5 on a car and the only local place I could get it sorted at was the main one in Dunfermline high street ...... downstairs in WH Smith’s ...... Hopefully they’ll be able to help. Bob

Tam ,looking at the side mirrors, I wonder what the metal bars are for because if you wanted to put silver screens on they would get in the way.

Good job Tam.
I have a Clarke Polisher.......Never used on my van....toooo damned scared I will burn,or scuff pannels.
I will let You borrow it.
One condition!!!
You teach me to use it properly!!
Could drop in tomorrow morning.

Just send photos with vc5 to Swansea with covering letter, that's how I did it.
A lot of PO's won't do it now.
Yep I have to do that now as post office didn't have a clue not did the dvla dipstick that sent me there.
Meanwhile MH not taxed so I can't use it grrrr

Nah post office can't do it so have to send to dvla. Can't believe 14 years and 5 owners have been paying a hundred quid more a year
And probably illegal over weight

I just assumed they were standard fitment has yours not got them ?

Probably why I don't use one either ....too many other bits to damage with a buffer like you say there's the fear of burning through paint so I've always just done it by hand ...hard work but it gets good results.
And as miagi said it's good for building up arm muscles:p

Our vans got slightly different mirrors but definitely no not original.
Mine have an Allen bolt going up from the bottom that tightens it up, maybe your are the same. When you move the bracket rather than it springing down it loosens the bolt and then mirror wobbles

Cool

Certainly keeps them stable ...No vibration or wobbles on them which is good.
I was surprised they werent electric or heated though

When we up-rated the weight of our Hymer from 350 to 385 I went to a local tax office (don’t think they exist anymore) and they said we had filled the form in wrongly as we were taxing & changing the logbook because of weight change.
They wouldn’t have it that it was just a paperwork exercise & said the van would have to go to Vosa for re weighing etc.
As we were about to go away I just gave up and taxed it on its original weight of 350, a few weeks later we got a letter from DVLA telling us we had paid too much road tax, with a refund & the logbook amended to the new weight!

I can't believe after all the hassle of getting my mum to sign a cheque for me last night I've only lost the bloody thing when out with jade this morning.

So now I've to send another cheque through to mum with my brother to get signed

This is like an episode of keystone cops to get a motorhome taxed
