Tam, Jade and Franky's European Adventure

I owe a big thanks to those of you who helped me decide to buy Toby as I very nearly decided not to buy it the few little jobs I need to do to it are minimal and although I knew I could clean it up a bit he has come up far better than I imagined.
I'm going to get a quote from a paintshop that does plastic welding to see how much it would cost to get the front wheel arches repaired and then those and the front bumper repainted as he would be near mint then

And that's before I do the super resin polish and final wax

It's like a new van

Got jade a wee present too

Dont think it is advisable to put the dogs name on a tag your phone no yes

Someone takes her they have her name and she will respond to it

My opinion is that a dog tag shouldn't have the dogs name on it as almost all dogs will answer to their name. Mine just have our surname and my mobile number. I know the law states address but what use is that other than to notify anyone interested that you are not at home. One of ours, Meg, is a complete tart and would go with anyone, Spice is a little more aloof.

The way the electrics are performing not I really don't understand how the batteries could have been flat when you picked the van up.
Me neither but all the clocks and everything were all wrong it's like it's been sat for a while

Ha, but they won't know how to pronounce Jade (assuming you've kept the Spanish pronunciation?)
Very true because she only responds to hadeee not jade

You must think we all silly, that can’t be Toby, look at that blue sky!!
Only joking, it’s looking really good.
I noticed the awning lights got the normal discolouration from the halogen bulbs, I fitted some round 6 led bulbs in mine when I changed the lens.

I wasn't I didn't even know a tag was required
But someone had advised if you put a tag on saying I'm chipped it discourages someone from stealing her as the vet would contact me before transferring chip to a new owner

Not sure how accurate that is

Have you registered the chip with a vet into the UK system asI assume she was chipped in Spain & on spanish system ?

Yeah he's come up fantastic I'm really chuffed. Started sorting out my storage boxes in the garage now too and fitted rails in to stop them moving about. Downsized my tool boxes too :)
Hadn't noticed the awning light I just thought it was meant to be that colour lol

Good reflection in the paint now though

Who does the other Motorhome in Toby’s reflection belong to? Perhaps word has got out what a good Valeting job you do and that Motorhome belongs to one of your customers

That's my sister's it's more a garden ornament than a motorhome as it sits parked there most of the time.
The roof is green and often like a garden pond but when I tell her to use it and for her man to clean it I just get my head bitten off so I just leave her too it lol.

Well done Tam,Van looks great, to finish the job properly please take the advice of @Charlie profesional valeter ,and the rest of us converts.
Buy a tin of Collinite 475S, it is "proper carnauba wax" along with a dampened applicator pad, its not difficult to apply if you do it right, will outlast any other wax application, and a tin goes a long way and will last a long time.
Best wishes

Even though I’ve never used it on my own, hubby has the attitude, your MH, you clean it!:( I hate getting up on the wobbly stepladder.

Ahem ...I was a professional car valeter :p
Then I changed to a job that paid better.

Got wax on way but I'm using carnauba was that's supplied to motor trade bodyshops.
Comes in bigger quantities without the hefty price tag of collinite.
Two coats of that and he will be good for the winter.

In their case they just have too much money lol and spend more holidays abroad than they do with the van.

Now that you've got a really good vehicle under the £20K you'd budgeted for does that mean that you can get off on your travels again?

Carnauba ???? Please tell the percentage of it you expect will in your wax ? Percentage wise ?

Let me jump the gun........ It will be less than one percent..

So many wax retailers make the claims that thier products contain Carnauba . It’s utter rubbish unless you count the tiniest bit which is practically immesuarable.

Waxes are NOT equal. Now I could rabbit on for hours about the contents of waxes and what the ingredients do and the percentages of. I was after all one a technical author for the largest manufacturer of detailing products in the world.

But I won’t.

But I can assure you that Collinite 476S is a high longevity wax with no equal and is the most ideal product for large vehicles..

There are far better waxes for show cars. Some of the waxes I have cost 100s of pounds but they are short durability. One Zymol wax I have cost £400 for a six ounce jar. It’s extremely high in Carnauba. Some 3 %....

Carnauba is weight wise more expensive than 24Ct gold.... and

Well not till after new year hopefully when mum's better. But that's still the plan at the minute.

Gissaa Clue Tammy, whats the wax called, and where from, just out of interest? I have an account with a large an on-line valeting supplier called Ultimate Finish car products, they have regular offers on all valeting products, its just a question of choosing your moment to grab a deal.
Ps:cant believe the price of professional buffers/polishers:eek:
Argos did one with good reviews that may well be the place I go to IFFFFFF..... I ever get one.

Anyway this isn't turning in to a debate of who's car valeting preferences are better than who's. There's many things in this world I know little or nothing about ...electrics being one and dog ownership is another.
Buying selling and cleaning vehicles isn't having owned over 700 personally and working in the motor trade for the first 5 years of my career life. Add to that several magazine featured vehicles and a few best in class show winners.

I'll stick to my own methods there:)

So I'm just back from visiting mum and honestly she's like a rollercoaster when I visited the other day she was chirpy and had been up through the day walking the corridors with her walking frame and looked great. Today she's knackered hasnt been out of bed all day and has a fever again :(

I was only in an hour and she wanted me to go so she could sleep.

She's bored in there too which is a shame and the other patients in her ward change every couple of days so she doesn't really get to know anyone that well before they are off home.

Hopefully it's just a blip and she's feeling better again in the next few days

Sorry to hear the latest on your mum Tam, I know you will do all you can to raise her spirits, and give her something to help lift her and get outa that place. Lets hope its just more professional care and different meds that are needed to perk her up, she will be so much better off when she gets home, and has Jade chewing her slippers, and you cooking the mince & Tatties.:D
All the best.
Les
