Tam, Jade and Franky's European Adventure

Boredom in hospital is the worst thing, the days are so long as they wake you up so early. She’s been in quite a while now and the days just run into one another and if there is no date for discharge, I’m sure she is beginning to feel really down.
One thing that kept my daughter and me going recently was getting the old knitting needles out. We had got fed up with reading and daytime telly, if available, is rubbish and also boring. However the challenge of getting something small finished really helped the time go. Daughter knitted a toy dinosaur and I was knitting poopies.
Is there anything like this that could help?

She's never been one for doing things like that ..I think she's just too exhausted and as nice as the nursing staff etc are they aren't for making things easy ....she has a canula ( I think it's called ) in her arm that she gets her antibiotic drip in twice a day ...and it gets changed every 3 days.
As she's in for 6 weeks they've been saying about putting a long line in for days now but no one on ward qualified to do it apparently . So today a doctor took 9 attempts at finding a vein so once again she's all bruises.
That and the amount of pills she's to take 17 tablets 3 times a day and she hates taking tablets she's just not the happiest.

She's fighting a chronic infection so understandably tired:(

I broke my knee skiing, many years ago, got sent back to Blighty to be fixed, was in hospital for 13 days, couldn't wait to get out, but the reality was, when still plastered from hip to ankle, it was actually more interesting in hospital!

I think at least 99% of the populations instinct is they want to go home and it's perfectly understandable.

My mum has had to have a few stays in hospital recently, hip replacement and 2 hernia ops, it's tough, they aren't used to taking advice from the "kids". Keep doing what you are doing, your consideration for your mum is admirable, the kitchen door / Jade situation shows that.

Your poor mum is going through it isn't she. I hope she gets better and can get home soon.

Sounds awful, poor Mum.
Yep I don't envy her with the drugs ....sisters gonna have another word with the doctor tomorrow regarding the drip line as it's not acceptable just saying no one on the ward qualified ...it's a big hospital with many other wards.

Mum's just too easy on them because she doesn't want to make a fuss but her arms and hands are a state with the drop lines.
If they put a long line in it doesn't have to be changed every 3 days so less painful and less bruises

I just want her back to herself ....or as close too it as we can get.

I really wish I could take jade In to see her as she'd at least give her a laugh ...But not allowed:(

Hope they sort your mum out asap and she feels better once they sort her meds out.
There will be someone who can do it .
A hug for you as seeing your mum like that is horrible for you too.:hugs:

I got loads of Apple's off mum's tree today so I'm gonna try making some puff pastry Apple turnovers Tomorrow and take a couple in to hospital see if that gives her a treat )
That’s a great idea, I’m sure you know the ready made puff pastry is the best and easy to use?
I always see lots of in patients being wheeled outside, drips and all, to smoke. On a fine day couldn’t you do that for Mum to see Jade?

Dunno if there is anyone medically inclined on here but if there is anything you are not sure about re what the docs and nurses are telling you/mum then my mither is pretty good with that kinda stuff and I can always ask her for any advice on your behalf.

I do realise that seems a bit intrusive but the offer is there.

@Charlie I`m confused, I thought you recommended Collonite 845 ?
That`s what I bought, is it the wrong stuff ?

476s is the longest durability ..

915 second longest. Brighter shine bit less durable.

845 know as the insulator wax is a liquid form of basically 476 and has the same durability of 915..

All are excellent all have long durability but 476S is the longest durability so therefore the wax of choice for our large vehicles .

Yeah that's what I'm using lol ....sheets are all ready to use:)

Yeah I'd thought of that ...thought I could get my sister to wheel her down and I coukd take jade to the door ..But need to wait till she's a bit livelier again

Give your mum a tablet and get her on here, she can spend all day chatting to us and post baby pictures of you...

When us oldies get ill it takes a bit longer to get better, And I’m only a youngster :D2 it’ll take time but she’s in the best place...(y)

Tam might think that she is already on enough tablets.

My mum's a former matron and my sister is the paediatric epilepsy nurse specialist for Scotland lol ...so between them they know the stuff it's just me that hasn't a clue.
Sisters on the war path in there tonight

Yeah he's come up fantastic I'm really chuffed. Started sorting out my storage boxes in the garage now too and fitted rails in to stop them moving about. Downsized my tool boxes too :)
Hadn't noticed the awning light I just thought it was meant to be that colour lol

Good reflection in the paint now though View attachment 261693

Great job Tam! :)

Tam

Sorry to hear that Mum's health is still a worry but as you say you have family with the 'knowledge' so that is good.

I have just embarked on a 'clean and polish' of our MH, but you have set a very high standard which I do not know if I can reach, especially since I seem these days to have to do it in 1 hour sessions.

I washed the roof today using Auto(whatsit) G101, but it will still need some T-cutting on some marks.

From your valeting days did you have any experience of the best treatments for powder-coated aluminium like our Arto?

I have decided that for the polishing I definitely need an electric buffer, so off to get that soon.

Anybody know of a good make of buffer - it does not have to be for long-term use as I only have one MH to do from time to time.

I want to get this done before the weather really deteriorates - looks good for a week.
