Tam, Jade and Franky's European Adventure

When it asks what vehicle scroll down to campervan should be about £115 plus dog

You are definitely on the wrong site, size doesnt come in to it for motorhome , can be as big as a bus still one price
Well I've just looked again ...on the eurotunnel site standard crossing 118 plus 19 for a dog that's £137
Then when you continue to book it says up to 8 metres

I'm 8.5 and 3.2 high

I paid 145 for 8.5 metres 3.5 height including dog

You need to state you are a camper van. Nothing else. No height, length or nuttin’

PS. @chaser beat me to it. Must learn to type faster.

It doesnt ask size on the site but price for standard is showing £100 to £122 @chaser

Just done it for 01/10 @ 11:50 and it is £113 + jade. £132. Next screen is to confirm your details. (y) Hope this helps

I think Direct Ferries are good, we've certainly used them before, but they do have some oddities. My daughter brought her cat back on the Rotterdam to Hull crossing last week. P&O direct let her book it as a foot passenger although Direct Ferries wouldn't. Might be useful info for someone?

Sorry to go off topic

It's booked now anyway.
I think the problem is because i was originally checking ferry prices and the first time i did that it gave me both ferry and the tunnel prices. Maybe there's trackers or something I don't know but everytime I go to the le shuttle option it asked me for vehicle reg make model length and height.

Now when I try to go direct it takes me to same statistics page.

But as I said I've booked and paid it now anyway ...im crossing at 11.50 and arriving at 11.35 which is amazing it must be that train from back to the future lol

Yep I see it
It's the same page I got but mine said 118

But I've already booked it now through direct ferries it's cost me £7 more but like I said it kept telling me 8 metres on the other page.

No idea why

Just make sure you have booked for the passenger/car shuttle not the commercial vehicle train.
As others have said it doesn’t ask for size if you book as ‘Camper van’. All ‘campers’ are equal, from PVC to RV as far as Eurotunnel are concerned. If you book as a ‘van’ they may think you are a commercial vehicle and try to shove you on with the trucks.

Richard.

Definately booked as campervan not sure why it's asked me for sizes

Anyway la Rochelle is nice

I've actually been here before but I can't remember it lol.

It got very warm today afterall and I got another bloody puncture but fortunately I was carrying a spare tube so jist had to do a quick changeover while jade cuddled the locals.

If you book as a van you are asked to select a box saying that your not carrying comercial goods/business etc and then it lets you go n the normal train with cars etc. It's only if you say you are comercial it puts you in with the trucks etc.

We've normally used direct ferries but they don't give you this option so it quotes you more. I noticed that on the ferries as well when I was checking prices. Going direct to the ferry websites it allowed me to select to say we weren't traveling in the van for comercial purposes and was cheaper than direct ferries. Still not as cheap as a motorhome though.

A spare tube Tam? I thought they went out years ago.

It's warm now. .I'm sweltering was just early this morning I could feel the change.

I've stopped for lunch at biscarrosse near a big lake ...we've had a cycle/ run up the cycle path so jade is now lying out sunbathing while I make lunch.

Still not sure about bordeux I've been before a few years back so it's not like I've not seen it and everytime I go in to big cities I wish I hadn't lol.

So will see where I end up tonightView attachment 255491 View attachment 255492 View attachment 255493

Hi Tam, well I finally got my license back so have been heading south as quickly as possible. I would have been at Biscarrosse on Saturday (it's a favourite of mine ) but decided to give a miss and head straight for the Spanish border (so really sorry to have missed You and Jade ).
My satnav decided to take me SE, so we ended up in the Midi Pyrenees on an uninspiring car park /Aire for the night. Sunday was a real diamond though, we headed straight up into the Haute Pyrenees, what a joy! Lannemazin on the 929 through the Tunnel de Bielsa.
You can keep all your beaches, give me the mountains any time.
Keep enjoying the rest of your trip Tam, look after Jade, she's a very special little lady.
Maybe meet you both again one day.

We always use the tunnel and have never been asked for dimensions of any kind. We just click on campervan and its the same price for any length, height, etc.

It sounds as if you might be booked on with the commercial vehicles. I'd give Eurotunnel a call.

If you are booked with commercial vehicles and trucks you have to drive your vehicle onboard and then leave it. You'll then travel with the truck drivers in a separate area. You're driven back to your vehicle on arrival. Something to be avoided with a dog I'd think.

I'm definately booked on as a campervan I have the email booking confirmation

On the rare occasions when I am forced to use the tunnel I object to having to put my nationality down as ' United Kingdom ' . No such thing. I always complain but it's like corresponding with planks.:D

Stopped here this morning for a walk along this huge beach.

You can park overnight here if you wanted , not a picturesque carpark but in a quiet wee town with a nice promenade and a lovely beach.

And we've now stopped for lunch here just over the bridge from saint nazaire at a wee town called saint brevin les pins.
Again there's a few spots here you could stay overnight if you wished ...the spot I'm parked on is just along the road from the carpark on park4night below...this spot has a lovely view over the estuary and the bridge and is beneath the pine trees.
Nice walks around and a good cycle path too.
Also found the skeleton of a big sea monster :D

We have a static caravan over the bridge between Escoublac and St. Andre des Eaux.
We left on Monday, our paths must have crossed somewhere between La Rochelle and La Tranche, now at San Sebastian heading south.
Don't miss the Presqu'ile de Guerande, tres beaux:)
