Tam, Jade and Franky's European Adventure

I just had two scumbags try to break in to my van. .while I was in it.
Parked in this hotel carpark while I'm waiting on jade to come back so I was lying in bed reading in the back of the van

I heard 2 bangs and then the front door being tried ...then a couple of voices and just as I got through the door that shuts of the back of the van I heard the habitation door open
It wasn't locked as I'm in the van ....
The look of sheer horror on the guys face when I came out the van was a picture they ran and jumped in to a black vw gold and took off out the carpark. ..

I've no doubt they were on the rob

Which hotel were you parked at? Glad you scared them off.

I bet Jade is OK this morning. Any lampshade?

Mulas's not on the way to Portugal .

Hotel executive sport. ...bloody chancers I'm glad I hadn't fell asleep.

Jade still sleeping they didn't give me a lampshade but she has tried to lick the stitches so she's in bed with me so I can keep an eye on her.

She's not eating yet either

Ha ha it depends which way you go to Portugal :p

Jade says I'm not up much for a selfie but at least I got in dads bed :p

Everyone reacts differently to ops etc & that goes for animals too.
Let her be lazy, tempt her with something tasty and a gentle stroll later,
Keep her on the lead with no jumping and silliness for a couple days.
She might need a lampshade!

If she needs a lampshade - here's a few alternatives to the "cone of shame"

Of course, availability & cost might be a limiting factor.
Hope Jade feels better soon.

Aaahhh poor Jade. Give her lots if gentle hugs today and maybe a few extra treats.
She's starting to get up and a bit more now. .she's slept most of today so I made the most of it and got some miles under our belt only really stopping for lunch and a wee walk that I ended up carrying her back from. So we are back in Cordoba ...35° LOL
But she had some lunch and at least I managed to get her tablets down her so thats the main thing

Yes she's not been very energetic today which is fine I've let her sleep most of the day.

Morning tam,,, nice one on jade, she looks ok to me mate!

Lovely pics again mate,, glad your well,, I assume mums ok?
Have a lovely weekend mate, x

Morning Tam, nice to see Jade again apart from looking a bit "tucked up "(which is perfectly normal after an op) she looks like she's well on the way to being her usual happy self.
You've fairly moved on west this last couple of days. Pics are lovely as usual, nice to get away from the beaches, tho you won't be seeing so many students in those parts.

Yeah she's much more like herself today.

Mum seems to be fine so hopefully just a wee warning thing.

Yeah I think she's alright now much livelier today ...weve just arrived in el rocio and plan to be in Portugal after the weekend

Have a little problem now though as my clutch has started slipping ...:(

Vans still going but it's slipping quite bad so I reckon it's needing a new clutch as it won't last long

So any reccomendations in a garage down this way ?

And anyone an idea of cost ?

That last aire looks very nice. (y) I like ElRocio but the wilding spot was full of flies when we were there. Have you noticed the tap at the troughs.

Good to hear Jade is up n about now.

A good wee aire that with all the services looks fairly new too.

Motorhomes banned altogether now from el rocio so I just popped in for a look and will be moving after lunch to a spot on the coast till Monday hopefully.

Lots of flies here today too

If you are getting clutch slip , I wouldn't be driving anywhere other than towards the place you are going to get it fixed. Unless you envisage using your breakdown service ?
The clutch will be working hard in your vehicle .

I'm in huelva now the clutch only started slipping today on the way to el rocio. ...i can't get a hold of anyplace to repair until Monday and couldn't park overnight at el rocio so I headed for the nearest big town in the direction I was going.

I'm hoping the place in Portugal that's been recommended can look at it but can't phone them till Monday
But it looks the closest

I would give the Seville one a ring as well to get an idea of going rate :)

Well you got it right this time Tam, they are indeed ponies and not donkeys :).
Hard luck with your clutch, s**s law seems to decree these calamities must always happen on a Friday evening or Saturday morning.
I hope you manage to get it sorted promptly and at not too great a cost. Afraid I can be of absolutely no help with the problem having zilch mechanical skills, knowledge or inclination.

Great pics as always. Your trip has rekindled my interest in Spain,so much to see away from the tourist traps.
Hope you get the clutch sorted. Don’t know how modern clutches work so can’t offer any advice, last one I looked at was from a Morris minor, made in late 50’s or 60’s.
How many miles has it done??

Yes I thought the same thing ...had to happen on a Saturday and couldn't get much further south.
It will be expensive that's for sure :(

It's sweltering too which doesn't help.

The ponies were tiny and very cute ...i thing jade thought they were big dogs she was very inquisitive bit didn't want to let her too close incase she scared them.

There are some lovely parts of Spain and some not so lovely ...some of the tourist places are nice and others are too much British influence for my liking .

I'm needing a change though which is why I wanted in to Portugal for a while ....didnt expect the clutch problems though just hoping it can be sorted fairly quick and doesn't eat too much of my budget.

The next owner if this van is gonna be chuffed though I'll have replaced half of it by then the way it's going.

The thing to avoid is longwinded garage, meaning having to find accom for you and Jade !

I think you will enjoy Portugal. We have been going there since 1979! Now fortunate to have a wee place there.
I like the people, generally laid back and friendly. Most people go to the Algarve, but as @JJ would probably confirm, the real Portugal is middle and north. Great food, great wine, great people, what more could you want...The ladies are quite pretty too.:D:D;);)
