Tam, Jade and Franky's European Adventure

How's your mum doing Tam?
She seems to be back to normal at the minute thankfully. Or that's the impression she's giving me which with my mum you never know ad she doesn't like to worry folk

That's why I never got told about the stroke till the day after by which time she was home from hospital.

My mum's a bit like that . Old school! She didn't tell me my Dad had died until the night before the funeral cos we were in NZ and she didn't want us to cut our trip short. (To be fair he had Alzheimer's and the Dad I knew died years before). Still, she was thinking about us.

I understand why your mum would do that.

But honestly my sister and my mum have been told now not to keep stuff from me cause if anything happened and I couldn't get back id be really upset and annoyed.

My Mum - last of the family except me, had gone downhill rapidly and did not recognise me on the last visits. She had left me years ago(age 13 months) and we hardly saw each other.

I had a trip planned to Australia/NZ. I was in two minds, so spoke to the Matron of the Care Home. She wisely advised that there was no telling how long Mum would last and that if it happened when I was away they would 'just keep her on ice', based on the fact she knew we were not close. Very astute some in the Medical profession.

It did happen that way, but I did not have regrets. The Cremation was a bit bazarre - just me. They asked if I wanted a Vicar to say a few words - I said do not be stupid.

I sometimes think that some societies induce feelings/sentimentality into relationships when it is not naturally there.

Just because I did not have a close family it has not stopped me having loving relationships, including this one with Basia.

I'm no expert on TIA's but Sharon's mum probably had a couple of dozen over a period of about 5 years. They were scary at first as she just stopped (a bit like a faint) then after something between 10 and 30 mins she had pretty much recovered. Paramedics were always called but after a number of them, it was felt a waste of time sending her to A&E.
Hope your mum doesn't have any more for a long time.

Very honest of you Geoff I think some people think the same as you but would not be honest enough too come out and say so

Yes so do I. ..(y)

What's on the cards today then Tam?

Bum burning?
Head scorching?
Throwing Jade in the deep end?

or something new?

Well the bums still burnt from Wednesday and I burnt other bits yesterday but at least I'm getting back to all the one colour :p

I done my good flt move this morning and moved franky to one of the other spots in roquetas....so I'm at the other end of the town now and I'll stay here till Monday I think then probably head to Almeria for a couple of days

I've already been out a bike ride this morning and done 25km so I'm now just going to chill with my book for a bit and then I might go back on the beach for a bit after lunch

Might have lunch out today not decided yet.
Trying to lose a few pounds :p

Loads of vans at this bit ...about 15

And there's 6 French vans grouped together awnings out chairs out stereo blasting French music and the wines flowing already ...might be a noisy night

I've a poorly puppy today and I've little sympathy for her ....tired of telling her not to eat stuff when we are out and about and she don't pay any attention.
So she's had the trots since early hours of this morning ..twice she's pooped in the van now with no warning and several times outside.
I'm actually tempted to get her a muzzle for when we are out till she gets the message because she would eat anything if she gets the chance
Not sure if I should be fasting her or not but she hasn't seemed overly interested in eating so I've not given her anything today bar water.

Will see how she is later on

I’m sure you will but, keep a very close eye on her . Dogs can go down very quickly . If concerned go to the vet !
Regards Dave

Yes I am doing ....its a scorcher today but I'm reluctant to leave her on her own at any time while she's like this.

Hopefully whatever she's eaten hasnt done more than just upset her tummy a little

Yes fast her for a day and just let her drink plenty..give just a small amount of food to start with again, ideally some thing like boiled chicken if you can ..Can you get the tins of chicken and rice Chappie?,thats the best thing for upset tummies and the runs, works a treat firms my lot up in no time I always keep a couple of tins in case I need it .

Our dog eats all sorts of rubbish if it can, which is why we give him a worming tablet every month. This might seem a bit OTT but worming tablets only work essentially while they pass through the gut. A day or two later and they offer no protection. :)

So does anyone know what celebration it is in spain today?

I'm assuming there's something because all along this 5km beach theres what I'm guessing a large bonfire set up every 5 or so metres .....theres gonna be some mess on this beach in the morning by the looks of it

There's been lorries and cars turning up with old pallets trees and fenceposts all day

Yes I've just found out from a few locals I eventually found someone who speaks a little English as my Spanish doesn't extend to
" what the bloody hell is going on" lol

There's massive bonfires being built all along the beach and only a few metres from each other .....it's going to be mad when they light them .....Never seen so many people on the beach.

Expect a quiet night then:)

We stayed at a site near Vinaros a few years ago, near being about 4/5 miles away when they had a fiesta and it was loud until about 5AM.......enjoy:smiley:

PS: my daughter has a dog that had digestion problems until I read somewhere about tinned dog food sometimes causing problems, she stopped the tinned and started feeding her on vacuum packed stuff from the pet shop and eggs, cottage cheese, vegetables, like most dogs she scavenged everything if she got the chance.

Been OK since the change of diet, may be worth a try if the problem returns/continues.

Yes I've kind of realised that's not going to happen tonight especoally as they don't even light them till it gets dark so I expect it will be a very very late night

I'll jist go out and watch for a while it's jade I'm worried about with the fireworks

All I can suggest with Jade is stay close to her and comfort her, we have had dogs in the past that were terrified by fireworks and other than sedatives, which we never used, that's all I can suggest.

Yes I'll see how she is and if scared I'll just stay in with her.

Poor Jade. a poorly tum and fireworks to deal with! I wish you both a peaceful night and a speedy recovery for Jade.

Is there lots of fires there too ?

I've actually just witnessed two people having sex on the beach with literally hundreds of people just feet away lol

I had to cover jades eyes

But she has introduced me to a group of rather lovely if slightly drunk people:p

It's like a bombsite out here this morning but give them there due there's about a dozen street cleaners out cleaning the beach

The rest isn't getting much cleaning mind you and there's rubbish everywhere.

I've another 11 mosquito bites ....getting sick of those now am I do is scratch and I look like a teenage kid with acne only they are on my arms legs and feet

Hows Jade this morning? boil up some rice and give her the water from it then some rice later. I followed this advice given to me and it worked a treat with blue. Also watch she's not getting too hot.
