Tam, Jade and Franky's European Adventure

Sorry to hear about your mum Tam, it's something you don't want to think about but sometimes the unexpected happens. I had it with my Pa a few years ago although things have settled thankfully.

As others have said, try to have a plan A & B for your peace of mind.

Fingers crossed, you'll never need it:)

Tam I’m enjoying your trip vicariously!
THe adventures with the lovely puppy Jade , your wonderful places you visit and stay, you have shown a Spain that I’ve never seen before. Thankyou.
I do hope your mum has recovered from her episode and you can travel again without to much worry.
Having a contingency plan for emergencies is a good idea but hopefully you won’t need it!
Safe travels wherever you end up!

Tam. I hope your mum is OK. Sounds like she will be. :hugs:for you cos Jade can't :).

I'm sure you could ask Sylvia to keep Jade for a while in an emergency. It wouldn't be ideal and Jade would hate not being number one, but it would be a solution. (Sylvia might even take her home). We're not home until October so can't offer, sorry.

There are lots of expat Facebook sites where people are willing to help out in all sorts of ways, so another option to consider, although you would have to leave her with unknown people.

Hopefully, it won't come to having to do anything but a plan should be formulated.

Best wishes.

Sorry about your mum, we tend to think they will always be the same & always there.
Re-Jade, yes I would get her done asap, you don’t need to wait for her ‘season’ you will get no end of grief if you do, it won’t matter how careful you are they nearly always get caught by a randy dog! You can get in injection if she does get caught but it extends the ‘season’ time! Go & get her sorted!

Tam think you should get her speyed and also get her passport and rabies jab done. She is not allowed into UK without having had a rabies jab and needs to have been done at least 21 days prior to entry to UK.
Don’t know how long the jabs last that they have in Spain, in UK they last up to 3 years.
The only other thing she would need on travelling back would be worming at a vets and he would enter this in her passport.

At least she would be ready to travel and have the possibility of a funster bringing her back for you should an emergency arise and they would only have to sort out the worming at the vets.

If you were to go down that route, be careful. I was having my dogs checked at Calais and a courier trype person was trying to check some cats (i think) through, and they were asking for written consent from the owner. He was arguing he had transported loads of pets and never been asked before, but you could leave a helpful Funster in a bit of a pickle if they can't continue on with Jade or have to miss a crossing.

Yes I spoke to Sharon the other day and I'll be back in Murcia first week in July to have her done as I then want to get in to Portugal.

She already has passport and had a jabs done. She can enter the UK no problem once she's had worming booster in France before I sail I believe.

It's only her speying to be done which was arranged with the refugee when I adopted her back in April.

You are already organised then.

I’m sure there would be someone who would bring her back in an emergency or keep her for a few days if you were flying back for a couple of days.

They are a helpful lot on here after all.

Yes hopefully I won't need to but my brother in laws father stays between Murcia and alicante so they've said if need be I coukd leave the motorhome there and I'm sure jade would be no bother.

Funniest thing happened there and I so wish I'd caught it on camera.

I arrived In roquetas de mar a few hours back, parked up and thought I'd go for a cycle with jade so we were cycling along and she was doing her usual running about all over the place jumping on the wall and running along ....we came to this bit where the wee river runs down to the sea and the sand is piled up about 4 foot either side of it and the river is about 6 ft wide and about 4 ft deep

So jade had run down on to the beach a bit and I gave her a whistle and of course she tried to take the most direct route running up the mound of sand and jumping....only she didn't know the river was there so she sailed through the air like a stunt dog and landed in the middle of the river with a splash .....one very confused and very wet dog

You had to see it really to see how funny it was I was doubled up as were a few passers by

She came out like a drowned rat coughing and sputtering and shaking water everywhere but at least it cooled her off.

I really like this town I loved it last time I was here and I still do it has a lovely beach and dedicated motorhome bays to park in at 3 different sites over 5 km of beach and your allowed 3 days at each site :)

Although there's a wee caravan here that was here last time I was and I don't think it's moved. But other than that I'm the only motorhome on this one this time.

That sounds like legal nonsense, because first one would have to prove who is the owner. There is now no documentation and never was for cats. Then how does the person asking verify the signature? against what? Anyone could write out a letter of consent.

Nonsense.

Only saying what I witnessed first hand, trying to help avoid some bother. They were hairless somethings, thought they were cats but might have been dogs. They were in crates that he carried in.

You could tell the official at the port it's nonsense and see how far you got! I find it doesn't usually go down too well.

Well if one accepts that he is right, what do you do then, if you cannot prove ownership, nor consent?

Is there not a notice stating what one has to produce for the animals? And is consent included? Were you asked for consent for your dogs, or proof that they were yours? Bill of Sale for instance?;)

If you were not asked did you help out the courier by pointing that out?

It also sounds a bit Monty Python to me.

It is a bit like the situation where some official asks a UK Citizen for an ID card - it is a request one cannot satisfy. At least in that case one could return with a passport(I do not carry mine to avoid pickpockets)

My very small Whippet (Peggy) walks round puddles & waits until the rain stops before she'll go out for a pee. We were walking along the bank of a mill race and came across a part of it that was totally green with pond weed. She decided it was a nice patch of grass and jumped off the bank. I know the look you get from a totally shocked, wet, dog :D:D.

I didn't post to get in to an argument, I was pointing out what I saw and heard, trying to be helpful. They aren't my rules, why don't you ring the Pet Passport office at Calais and get chapter and verse, and stop taking over someone elses thread.

Sorry Tam, I'll say no more on the subject.

Hi tam hope everything ok at home we are all enjoying your your adventure with jade :)

We spoke to a Belgian guy in Sweden who'd been into Norway with his dog (but registered to his girlfriend who was back in Belgium working). He had all sorts of problems entering Norway because of the registration.

Morning
Lovely quiet night here at roquetas ....

I'm still the only van here which is really surprising , spent a few hours last night chatting with a local guy jose ..he didn't speak any English but we managed to get by lol ..he was very taken with franky and with jade
Had a lovely lunch out in a Spanish Italian restaurant yesterday and had a ramble through the nature park.

Have to do some shopping today then I'm gonna go catch some sun on the beach for a couple of hours .

I'm just along from the naturist beach so I can go tan my white bits in peace lol as there's very few folk go along there

But first off jade and I are off for a cycle run ....as in I cycle she runs so I ca wear her out long enough to get peace ha ha

Have a good day

Well I've burnt my ass and the bit round me head where I had my hair shaved.

And a few other areas bit it's been a nice relaxing day being so close to the nature park is handy and jade has had two long runs round it today so she's worn out which is good as then she's chilled:)

I'd swap your day, even the burnt bits, for mine!

Watching IBM "Consultants" fail to install their own products or burn myself at the beach, no contest!

More of the same for me today, joy.
