Tam, Jade and Franky's European Adventure

She’s probably thinking.....”how the f..... did we get right up here?”
I think G always wonders how we get places, she sleeps most of the travelling time!
She sleeps a lot of it too ....but she loves having a good sniff off the new spot when we park up ...

Found a nice wee wild spot with a great view I'm going to stay tonight
It's roadside but so far i think there's been 6 cars passed in an hour so I figure it will be quiet overnight.

A couple of weeks ago it 3° during the day.
Aye it's better now then it was 18° earlier but showing 15 now I'm still in shorts and sandals so can't complain.

Now that's the kind of Spain I'd like. Lovely little streets and local people.
Non of that Benidorm tat.
Lovely pictures. I can imagine sitting outside a little bar with a nice plate of local food and glass of red.
I bet you couldn't imagine your time without your new little buddy now, and I bet she can't believe her luck.
Incidentally in that wee village a 3 course menu del dia with drink and bread was €8 or a glass of wine and 2 tapas for €2.

Your right couldn't imagine not having jade now she's great company but I may get committed for having conversations with her.

I think that you would find it was already pretty overcrowded if everyone who has conversations with their dogs were to be locked up!
You only talk to her because she never answers back or argues with you lold.

Whatever you do to quote and comment Val never works.

I can only see the quote not your comment

Oh she answers back sometimes lol.
And she might not argue verbally but the wee ratbag so dig her paws in and just not move if she doesn't want to go somewhere.

She's determined if there's gravel at the side of the road she won't walk on it she wants on the tarmac. No fear of cars which isn't good so I've to keep moving her back on the gravel.

She'll have a reason, either a bad memory (maybe of cut pads),or perhaps her pads are a bit tender at the moment.
I agree that walking up on the road is not a good idea but unlike humans animals don't do things just to be contrary, she will have her reasons - you may just have difficulty working out what they are.

In shorts at 15° = Mad Scotchman.:)

Perhaps ...who knows I tickle her feet a lot and her pads all seem fine.
If it's just a gravel path she don't have problems walking on it its just when there's a choice of gravel or tarmac lol

Almost, it's a heatwave!
Footwisee, we are all a bit different - if I try and do a couple of steps bare foot on pebbles I'm hobbling, others can run up and down a pebble beach without flinching. No reason why dogs are any different.
Working dogs like Huskys have to have their feet accostemised to the terrain they are working over (it isn't always snow ).

Doesn't look like the weather has improved much since we were there a few weeks ago.
If you wander off to these cold areas it is only to be expected.:D2

28º here up until yesterday when we had a bot of drizzle.-still 24º yesterday .Suns back now(y)

It's hard to tell at times with her size sometimes she looks big other times quite small but she has gained weight she's about 5.5kg now and was 4.8 when I got her.
Weather changed yesterday that's why I left the coast as it was raining there too. Been a few showers today but not too bad. At least that wind has buggered off thankfully
Thanks for sharing your travels and Jade's adventure and new life together!

Aye the last week or so from Almeria to motril I had 25° plus ...but was dull yesterday morning and raining so decided to come visit the nevada then Granada then I'll head back to coast north of Malaga

Your be amazed how much a dog can remember music.

When I first got jade the first few nights to get her to settle I put julio iglesias on because call me mad but it was the only Spanish music I had and she was used to people talking Spanish to her so I figured it would help her settle and it did she always fell asleep.
But now everytime I play it she knows ..she listens to it lol ....

I'm not kidding

Oh on another note regarding jade and the training ....shes definately better with her harness than the collar ...doesnt pull in the harness ....only when wanting to pee poo or when she's trying to eat something otherwise miles better but pulls on the collar constantly so I tend to just use the harness for walkies.
Also slowed her eating down a fair bit because I now load her meals in to a kong type toy so she has to move it around to get it out so keeps her active and stops her gulping her food down.

Still need work on the recall so still not letting her off the lead till that improves. Sits automatically now though when I stop and on demand so good going on that front.

Poco a poco :)

as she grows it might be a good idea to buy a halti nose type lead fixing .
i bought one for our labrador when the lads were only young . it fits around the dogs nose etc and works like a horses set up. also when pulled stops the dog bitting anyone .
worked a treat . my lads were only very young but could manage to take our old dog for a walk safely.
bought ours in our local vets .

Yes next time I'm near a pet shop or the next China bazaar I'm going to look for a halti just to try it with her

we later had otjher dogs with them and it really trained them so easily.
ideal in busy town streets etc .
