Tam, Jade and Franky's European Adventure

After my lovely quiet wild spot last night I've ended up on the noisiest aire possible .....ive a Spanish van either side of me ...on the left an old couple with 3 dogs that never stop barking.
On the right a grandad daughter and two toddlers. ..toddlers that the grandad and daughter seem to ignore that keep running over and slapping themselves on the side of my van.
I've been out to them twice and the adults just smile and say sorry.....try handcuffing the little shits or put them in the feckin van.

Honestly some folk just don't care about others.
Only reason I'm staying here is because there's a market on behind me in the morning but I'm gonna swing for one of these clowns soon.

Give me a wild spot anyday

My then 2 yar old Border Collie was playing with another young dog on the lakeside last year, to that moment she had never swum. The other dog's owners were throwing sticks for them to retrieve, they soon began throwing them in the water, their dog happily rushed in after them, mine stood in the water up to her knees barking with frustration.Moments later she leapt after a stick that had landed in the water near her, she did not realise there was a deeper gully. Shock! horror!
Much splashing, paws flaying but she emerged with the stick clamped in her jaws.
Since that moment she has been a confirmed water baby, rushing into the lake at every opportunity.

I hate when I buy anything in a Spanish shop that doesn't have a price on it ...im sure they just look at you and name a figure they think they can get away with
Damm collar cost me 25€
Only 13€ online
And they only come in white
Guess she'll have to wear 2 collars
bit like this tam

Well that's been officially the worst place I've spent a night yet.
Between the other motorhomes either side of me that don't seem to hear their dogs barking constantly or the other ones with the 2 kids from hell and then the group's of teenagers who hung around in the carpark last night till 3am playing crap music and laughing and screaming loudly I had a crap nights sleep.
To add to that some other Spanish motorhome had parked in the carpark behind the aire and because of the noisy kids it was like he couldn't decide whether to move or to stay but he was outside and in and out the cab several times opening the blinds closing the blinds slamming doors etc for about 40 mins around 2.30am
He stayed where he was and got moved at 7.30 am by the police when the market started setting up.

It's good the local council have provided an aire for the town with free fill up and dump but the location is quite frankly crap.

Wouldn't recommend it.....im gonna have a shower then a quick look around the market , top up the tank and get the hell out of here lol.

We had a similar experience last night Tam.

We're parked on a Stelpllatz which is in the carpark of a lovely alpine hotel overlooking a lake. We've been here a couple of nights and its been tranquil. Last night though was different - we were in bed watching a film when a MH turns up at around 11pm. They must have parked up, slammed doors with loud talking about five times before they finally parked up after trying almost every available space beforehand.

Another turns up who released the hounds from hell - barking like billy-o, then got back in slamming doors and finally parking up in the slip road nearby. Then I heard something - looked out of the bedroom window to see a woman standing literally a foot away from our vehicle looking into our garage - we'd forgotten to close the doors earlier but would have done so before going to sleep.

What is it with people? They seem to have absolutely no regard for other folks. By the way, this was all from 11pm to gone midnight. It must have been a disturbance to the hotel residents too.

Yep I never arrive that late at a spot but if I did I'd be bloody quiet about it ...even when I take jade out for last pees around midnight I'm quiet about it.

Local kids etc you kind of expect to be noisy but other motorhomers you'd think would appreciate a bit of consideration.
Now sat in a queue waiting for the service point while the kids from hell van takes his sweet time

After a spot of market shopping for fruit veg and a variety of nuts we left guadix stopped by La peza to see the reservoir and then continued along the gr3201 in the sierra Nevada. Found a lovely spot very beautiful and having a spot of lunch.
This would make a lovely overnight spot but think it's a bit early yet so will move on after lunch.

I can say that in 7 years on Aires/Stellplatz and wilding we have not experienced anything like that, althogu except for one night at Carbaceno it has all been France and Germany, so maybe Spain is worse for it.

To be honest she doesn't seem that keen on the water at the minute but that might change , she tends to go look at the surfeit runs away if it touches her.
Doesn't seem to bothered by the extra collar either.
But she's in the huff with me today cause I told her off earlier ...so I just keep getting sad eyes flicked at me
Theres water and water. Our two love a pond, lake, or river but avoid the sea if theres waves.

A few more pics from today and finally our parking spot for the night.

Out in the wilds somewhere in the hills above Granada
Nice and peaceful and stunning views ...about 3km of rough dirt track to get up here but easy enough at a snail's pace.

It gets worse...

We returned from a walk to find a guy has parked adjacent to us - say 6 feet away and has erected a fence around his 'plot' of around 3 foot high. I couldn't believe it... he's hammered poles into the car-park paving! All because he has two unruly yappy dogs who have been growling at us. This is on a Stellplatz which says no camping activity... he also has his table and chairs out and has also let his waste out onto the paving!

Oh and he's unplugged our electric and put in a divider (is this the right terminology) on. I wonder if he's paid?

Tam looks good. Is it officially an Aire or just parking?

That 'track' looks fine - seems well maintained. I do not mind it like that, which I would call a 'dirt/unsurfaced road' rather than a track - not being pedantic, but just using the sort of term used on maps, for what is a serviceable road, but just not paved.

Have a peaceful night Tam.

I'd be unplugging his divider because that will limit what you can use before tripping it.
You get some muppets like

That's the good bits of the road lol ....the bits that were really bad I couldn't take pics as I was concentrating on keeping wheels on the ground.

Not an aire or a recognised spot I just went exploring down a track I saw some lads go down on a dirt bike and found this spot

Couple of young lads here on dirt bikes just now which is entertaining...might go see if I can wangle a shot lol

If you have paid then that is your connection, politely unconnect and throw it over his fence, you might get lucky and silence one of the dogs:)

Oh on another note regarding jade and the training ....shes definately better with her harness than the collar ...doesnt pull in the harness ....only when wanting to pee poo or when she's trying to eat something otherwise miles better but pulls on the collar constantly so I tend to just use the harness for walkies.
Also slowed her eating down a fair bit because I now load her meals in to a kong type toy so she has to move it around to get it out so keeps her active and stops her gulping her food down.

Still need work on the recall so still not letting her off the lead till that improves. Sits automatically now though when I stop and on demand so good going on that front.

Poco a poco :)
My puppy Jess born 13 december is about the same age as Jade, and she still pulls like a train when walking. I used a slip lead until recently but she would still pull until she was almost choking so I changed to a harness and she's much better, still tends the pull but mainly when near home as she knows she gets fed when we get back. My main problem is she picks up anything, bottle tops, tissues, yesterday's catch was one wasp, one bee numerous tissues and a drawing pin, nightmare!

@golly sorry for the funny to your post but it's good to know we're not the only ones dealing with puppies behaving badly. Ours is just a few days older than Jess (looks like she's bagsied a nice chair by the radiator).

Sorry for thread hijack Tam :)

Tam, you find the most beautiful places love the photos you are shareing, now that you have had Jade a few weeks would you say you have made the right desision, just curious after all the debate about if it was a good/bad idea before you had her. I think I know the answe but the reality of it interesting for others who are wondering wether or not to get a dog.

Jade has beaten that ...she also picks up anything , tissues any rubbish but the worst ever was a bloody condom ...i nearly died of embarrassment when I turned round and she was carrying it along the beach at roquetes de mar.
And she doesn't understand drop and leave ...

Thanks Carol. .not all are as great but I like when I find a spot like those :)

Think I've had her just short of a month now and there's a lot of fun times a few frustrating times too but overall I think I made the right decision ...shes a lovely dog and great company.

It's infuriating isn't it, they think it's a game of chase me when they have something they shouldn't :D2
