Tam, Jade and Franky's European Adventure

When I was with the horses in the Highlands they would be savagely bitten all along their bellies and underparts by something known as a birch fly -it was a big, black brute of a thing - the only way the horses could get any respite was to clart them with grease, (usually Sudafed) a mucky business but it worked. Seemingly most insects can't bite through grease or oils . Tam, I don't suppose your legs are quite as hairy as a horses belly so pleasantly oiled you could be bite free!
Tomorrow I'll be shining with oil .....shallow fried legs in the sun

Jade will be too busy licking your legs to go scavenging :)
She does that anyway lol ...and my neck

But it's really nice when she does my feet and toes ....i have to confess I just let her do that cause its great ha ha

A few wee Pics from the beach/park I'm parked up at.

Moving on tomorrow. Going to head inland tomorrow to beznar then in to the Sierra Nevada for a few days.

Moved up to beznar this morning only about 15km so didn't take long ....parked up at a nice spot overlooking the reservoir. ..its raining so not ventured out the van yet so gonna have a cuppa and a slice of lovely cake I picked up yesterday while mother nature washes all the sand of my van in true flt fashion.

Cracking view out the front window though

Oy, you've nicked my spot, we were parked there the last couple of nights before we headed home looks like exactly the same spot.
Did you notice the No parking signs for Autocaravsans, we did after we had spent the night there, didn't stop us spending another night.:)

Yes the French do that too, we’ve seen a MoHo parked right next to a sign prohibiting Camping Cars!
To be honest there was 2 different couples sleeping in that carpark in estate cars so if only parking as I was doing then I see no difference.
Of course if the police came and asked me to move I'd just move ...but they passed several times without even so much as a glance in my direction so all is good.

Nice photos Tam, poor Frankie is hardly getting a look in now Jade has joined the team. Perhaps Jade deserves her own thread so that Frankie doesn't feel too left out of the adventure.
I dunno she's in a few of those photies

shes still young so dont expect too much find some where she can run free blow of some steam then do some training

Morning folks ...so we left the reservoir this morning around 9am and drove up the a348 past lanjaron to orgiva and then took the a4132 to pampaneira which a proper little Spanish hillside village very quaint very pretty with lovely narrow wee lanes and a pretty town square.
Got some nice bread and a lovely chocolate pastry thing which really coukd have served 4 and I did fully intend to have only half now and half later but I just demolished it with a nice coconut latte mmm.
Here's a few pics from the road and then pampaneira

The most kna**ered I've ever been was in Orgiva. We were on the campsite with the intention of climbing Mulhacen. At breakfast at 8 am Martin said don't expect to do it today cos we should already be on the way there. But ... We can bike (trail bike not cycle) up to the parking to recce it. Biked successfully through the white villages and then many kilometres on a gravel track. Spoke to some forest workers at the shelter and walked uphill for an hour. Sat for a muesli bar contemplating the route when Martin said I dont fancy doing this part again, I estimate ........... to the top . So, of course we did it. The last 15 minutes were hard, tired and coping with the altitude :(. But the summit was reached at 4 pm.

Now in November it goes dark by about 6 pm and we had to descend the mountain, find the bike and ride back the return route to Orgiva. The last 30 minutes walk through the forest to the bike was in darkness and then on the ride back down we rode through clouds.

The relief to arrive back at the motorhome can't be described but we couldn't eat anything or even go for a shower until we'd drunk copious mugs of weak tea.

Its made a memory though :).

Now that's the kind of Spain I'd like. Lovely little streets and local people.
Non of that Benidorm tat.
Lovely pictures. I can imagine sitting outside a little bar with a nice plate of local food and glass of red.
I bet you couldn't imagine your time without your new little buddy now, and I bet she can't believe her luck.

Doesn't look like the weather has improved much since we were there a few weeks ago.
That dawg looks a lot bigger than when we met her a few weeks ago.:)

I'd love to know what Jade is thinking about as she gazes down into the valley.

She’s probably thinking.....”how the f..... did we get right up here?”
I think G always wonders how we get places, she sleeps most of the travelling time!

Yes I have to say I like these type of villages although it's a bit cooler and wetter up here only 18° today but its a nice change of scenery and jade seems to like exploring the rocks lol ....im surprised she hasn't fallen off yet she's often poking her nose right over the edge.

It's hard to tell at times with her size sometimes she looks big other times quite small but she has gained weight she's about 5.5kg now and was 4.8 when I got her.
Weather changed yesterday that's why I left the coast as it was raining there too. Been a few showers today but not too bad. At least that wind has buggered off thankfully
