Tomorrow I'll be shining with oil .....shallow fried legs in the sunWhen I was with the horses in the Highlands they would be savagely bitten all along their bellies and underparts by something known as a birch fly -it was a big, black brute of a thing - the only way the horses could get any respite was to clart them with grease, (usually Sudafed) a mucky business but it worked. Seemingly most insects can't bite through grease or oils . Tam, I don't suppose your legs are quite as hairy as a horses belly so pleasantly oiled you could be bite free!
