Tam & co the great winter escape

I can understand having a small emergency supply but fresh soup is so easy to make - out of nothing really! My favourite “go to” is French Onion with the cheesy crouton floater.
Not so cheap usually and takes time so when you just want soup in a hurry you can't beat it out of a tin/pouch but the quality does vary a lot so you have to be selective. The best way with home-made soup is to make a batch that you can freeze but obviously in a MH there isn't the freezer space.

that looks like a nice light soup Northernraider might give it a try. I liked some of the knorr packet soups, spring vegtable was my favourite not seen it for years. My home made soup doesn't last long enough to get frozen.

I think it's only 78 calories per half can which is good . I usually have a whole can for lunch and 2 small orange's 😁

Some of the fresh soups are ok, never have I seen any tinned soup that was worth eating, hate to think what they add to it anyway, best way is batch cook and make your own
Then I can only say you've either a royal pallette or you've not explored enough.

The asda home brand chicken noodle is far nicer than the granny's or the heinz one in my opinion. But I've tried every make and type of tinned soup ...there are lots I could recommend.

Aye but at 50p a can it's easier and cheaper just to buy it 😁
But 50p of home made feeds a family or several portions for one! Healthier better for the planet and carbon footprint! I never thought I’d see the day when I’m making a case to a Scotsman to save money…..

Hmm I don't know about that . Veggies aren't that cheap to buy these days . I used to make big pots of homemade soup when I lived in the house and then froze a lot of it but it still took a while chopping and grating then cooking it.

Please tell me where you can get the vegetables needed to make a decent soup for 50p, can pay that for the carrots alone.

It would cost considerably more than 50p to make a large pot of soup even if you've got a veg patch and grow them yourself

I quite like the Moroccan spiced chicken and taggine fresh soups in the plastic tubs from various supermarkets as a alternative to home made soup, and your are right, I am a complete food snob🤷🏻‍♂️😇😎

Zermatt Unplugged!! Zermatt used to be my second home 😂

Unfortunately it has changed a lot in the last 10 years or so. Shame the music festival isn't nearer August 1st (Swiss National Day) or I might have been tempted to revisit, the fireworks in a deep valley are something to behold!!

I quite like sweetcorn but only from tins, one benefit is if there is any left you can feed it to the dogs which makes finding their poo easier when it's dark as it has yellow speckling which shows up easily when a torch is shone near it! 😄
I have never so much til you said that Minxy 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Lidl sell boxes of veg for £1.50 and you can make a load of soup from it to freeze 👏👏

If you can manage to get the boxes! In all the time they've been doing them I've managed it twice! If I was relying them for soup I'd be starving by now!

Little bit of preventative maintenance ...and a chance to check over the brake pads etc before in for mot next Wednesday.

So some may remember I had to weld these areas on my hymer a few years ago as the factory underseal is rubbish and it chips and gets water under it and then rots it away where you can't see it. I had spotted when I was getting the clutch done that there were some areas where the underseal was damaged. ...so wheels off and wire brush and grinder oot

fortunately no holes or weak spots but lots of loose underseal ...so i scraped off all the loose stuff ,feathered the edges and then gave it all a good brush off to remove all the dirt and dust etc , painted some rust inhibitor over the bare metal bits ...then 2 coats of primer , 2 coats of satin black and then a good coat of stone guard over the top

Yes ...had the odd treat here and there to keep me sane but I'm around 16 stone 8lb now so roughly 3 stone 6lb lost

Woodland walkies today tired them out

They all got filthy running though the numerous burns and streams ela in particular was a right state . So they all had to have a garden hose shower when we got back. Think I got soaked more than they did

Well done Tam for doing so well with the diet. I’m a skinny beanpole and struggle to keep up to my 14 stone target but I do understand how difficult it is for those who put on weight so easily. The sting in the tail is the problem of keeping to a comfortable weight once you’ve got down to it,a lot of people seem to shout hurrah and go back to old habits and square one!
