How many lorries cross channel to get to ROI? Probably ought to be some sort of charge to use our roads! Maybe that make it less economic and ease up some of the freight traffic.

Here's a strange one but there's a thread running just now about entry requirements to ireland from the uk and it seems they request the dog to be wormed for entry , yet no other eu country asks this ...its usually returning from the eu to the uk that its required and not the other way round.m

I'm going cairnryan to belfast where its apparently not enforced just now so i wont bother anyway but it seems weird that you can go uk to France or spain and not require worming but ireland and ni because of brexit requires it

I think it's because Ireland doesn't have the nasty worms they do in much of the EU hence the precaution, same as the UK, however as the UK doesn't have the nasty worms not enforcement doesn't cause any issues.

Heres a little morning entertainment fir you guys.


So our driveway is on a corner ....theres a sign on the gate saying do not block access. There is also double yellow lines outside the drive way and across the street ...yet one old guy thinks they dont apply to him and he parks his Dacia duster opposite my drive every single day till he walks up to the newsagents and chemist to get a few groceries and newspaper. Ive told him several times not to park there , mum has told him and we've either been ignored , or mumbled at or on one occasion he gave my mum the bird. Last week i couldn't get the motorhome out for his car and theres been a few other episodes....this has been well over a year possibly 2.


So ...thanks to the deliveries i found out where he lived. Ive threatened to do the same to him to mum but as yet i haven't done it. But after last week trying to get the motorhome out and him ignoring me i thought bugger it im getting my own back .

So last night after work i dumped my car outside his drive and blocked his gates. No lines outside his house and other than blocking his drive its not causing an obstruction etc.

Well this morning i have several missed calls from police Scotland asking me to move my car as its blocking someones drive who has to get to york urgently....blah blah blah .


Ive ignored all the calls so far ...ive walked the dogs , been to Asda done my shopping etc .. i did try to call police Scotland back and speak to someone to advise of the situation and ask that they speak to mr arrogant and tell him if he comtinues to park on the double yellow lines outside my drive that i will continue to block his. ...but lines are busy and they dont answer. Im currently waiting on them calling again.

I dont believe he needs to visit york i think hes probably upset he can't get his newspaper without walking.


Call me immature but i see it as revenge best served cold.


Now as far as im aware im not breaking any laws , no lines no signs etc and the car is taxed motd and insured. He however is when parking on double yellows on a corner.


I have had one message telling me if police have to intervene and move the car i will incur costs. But as theres been 2 abandoned cars lying on main roads here for weeks im curious how long they take.

I do intend to move it shortly as im working tonight but i would like the police to pay attention to my complaint about his constant drive blocking and i think they will do that better if hes constantly whining to them that he cant get out.

If they haven't phoned back by 12 ill walk along and move it but i do expect a confrontation with mr arrogant.


Ill let you know what happens

I thought it was ok to park across a drive if there was nothing on it. (Not that I do) Always baffled me as to how you know if there is anything in the garage!

Ah well i didn't have to wait long ...id no sooner posted the above comment than there was a knock at the door. 2 police in a van . Before they had a chance to say anything i came out the door and said ah about time ...now follow me.

I walked them up to the end if the drive pointed at the road and said "ok guys you tell me what you see on that road both sides" ..." Double yellow lines " first cop says. "Exactly " i said " yet yer man that your here about seems to think they don't apply to him" i then explained to them that he parks there everyday , has ignored all requests for him to stop and that hes been rude and arrogant etc. I told them that whilst im sorry they are wasting their time on crap like this when they should be doing something more important etc that as far as im concerned its an eye for an eye ( see i did learn something in RE at school) and that im happy to go move my car but i want them to speak to him and tell him i have access to 5 vehicles i can block his driveway at anytime and it not cause me any inconvenience whatsoever.

They agreed he's out of order and gave me a lift ( in the back of the van like some common criminal ...what will the neighbours think ) to get my car.

Mr arrogant was standing in his drive when we got there ready to open his mouth. But i got in first he was told in front of them that what goes around comes around and that if he parks outside my drive again ill be parking my car there for a week . Of course he started to rant that he hasn't parked there etc etc because the police were there but i was asked by officer 2 to leave it to them and go home so i left them to it.

They seemed sensible guys and agreed he was out of order so hopefully they get the message across because frankly im discusted that theyve spent a morning dealing with a whiny entitled auld arse rather than doing something constructive. In total that was 14 missed calls , 5 voicemail messages from different officers and eventually 2 uniforms attending in a vehicle all to move a car from a street with no parking restrictions. And all because someone doesn't like others doing to him what he does daily

I hate people like that. Im not shy in admitting ive little respect for the police but i also dont phone them and waste time for stupid things like not being able to get my car out the drive to fetch my paper.

They had asked me why i hadn't reported him and i said " you're kidding right? People are waiting hours for officers to attend assaults, burgluries etc etc what chance is there of them responding to someone parking on double yellow lines blocking a driveway. Frankly id be embarrassed to call them for that.

Yes thats what the police said . So if he continues to park there i will be doing that . Once i have a few days worth ill hand them in to them.

Hopefully he's learned his lesson and parks elsewhere as theres plenty parking bays where he could park he just likes to drive around the block to avoid the traffic lights at the top of the street.

If they did not respond then escalation would get a response.
They don't have to book the offe ding vehicle they can give the owner opportunity to rectify it.

In other news this is the other idiot ive been dealing with today ....well the last few days.


I ordered a set of led trailer board lights for my scooter rack . I ordered them on the 10th july they were meant to be delivered on the 14th but were not . I cancelled the order on the 19th as i was tired of waiting. I bought a set from claric engineering instead and i was going away with the camper last week . Lo and behold the seller did not cancel and instead the courier ( hermes) left them on my front door step when there was obviously no one home ...because its a front door on a main street the parcel has obviously been nicked.

So all week ive been arguing with this clown to get a refund. Ebay says they will refund on the 28th if no joy from the seller. Heres screenshots of the conversation so far

The problem is i wasn't breaking the law. There are no lines or parking restrictions where i parked my car .unlike outside my house where he parks his. He breaks the law everytime he parks on double yellow lines. My car was legally parked...the only offence was a civil matter regarding an obstruction. It should not have involved the police to be honest

His car gets parked right in front of that howard crescent sign post. Which makes reversing the car out very difficult. And getting the motorhome out past the gate before turning impossible.

He also blocks people walking down the pavement.

The only thing i can think is he parks there so he can then go around the block and back to his house but avoiding the traffic lights. And possibly just to be awkward as ive asked him several times not to park there. Theres plenty of allocated parking bays up and down the street so no reason to park there.

Not the first time a daft courier has left something on the front door and we get lots of school kids etc walking past. When camper isn't in the drive the front door is clearly visible when walking down the street.
