Tam & co the great winter escape

Im thinking instead of buying an additional freezer i might be better changing the fridge i have to one thats got a seperate freezer. This one is the same overall size as mine and same power rating. Obviously smaller fridge but larger freezer. And wouldn't use additional power. <Broken link removed>
 
Do you only have a small fridge in that great big Motorhome!! That seems stupid.

Our Dethleffs is only 7.4m but has this fridge/freezer. It’s a slim one but tall. Has a freezer at top and big drawer below

We have a large fridge/freezer in the Frankia (y)loads of room for food. Beers are kept in the electric cool box in the garage.

The one thats in it is bigger than the original 3 way one . It also uses less electricity than a 3 way fridge. So its more efficient. A 3 way fridge costs about 10 times the price of these too
 
Must admit as we are rarely on sites we are mostly on gas full time. It gets put on elec at home before we leave to cool it down but rarely after unless an aire has it included.

Yeah but i have 1100watt of solar. Even my water heater runs off the solar. I only use gas for cooking and the heating in winter.
 
Humour was short lived.

Mum fell in the bathroom this morning 🤦‍♂️ so aswell as the troublesome knee ( which caused the fall) we now have a big bruise on her back , she's bumped her shoulder and banged her head .. ive got her back to bed at present and force fed her a cup of tea a small bit sandwich and a couple of paracetamol.. now waiting for doctor surgery to open at 8am so i can hopefully get a doctor out to see her. She's worried of course that she's going to end up back in hospital but i can't see any other options really. Although her knee doesn't feel as hot or look as swollen as it did the other day she says its a lot more painful than it was and she's struggling to bend it.

You need a thick skin to ride a Ducati or any other sports bike!! Going by the way they go round bends between oxenhope and hebden bridge last night!!
 
For all you oldies ... please dont do to your children what my mum does because honestly i could throttle her at times. Shes bloody stubborn , won't do what she's told and its like the bloody official secrets act tae as she likes to make sure you feel the full burden of dependancy.

Not allowed to tell sister or brother anything about her fall , meanwhile im trying to juggle dogs , her mental demands, her refusal to take blooming tablets and listening to a repeated " your call is important to us " message on the @£#&&£ doctors line trying to get a home visit.
 
Sound cruel but maybe the threat of a nursing home will do the trick. She sounds like she is all there so it might get through to her.

Tam do NOT hide anything from them, trust me on this, you need to involve them/keep them in the loop, this will only get worse if you hide it and put you at odds with them when they find out, which they will. Been there, got numerous t-shirts as have many funsters.

You 'may' need to review how you/your family supports your Mum which unfortunately could impinge quite heavily on your lifestyle and plans, sorry to be blunt but this isn't just a 'hiccup' or something that is likely to change.
 
So sorry Tam. It sounds serious for your mum. One thing I do know if you keep your sister and brother out of the loop, you will end up getting the blame for not telling them. Could you tell them and ask them not to come rushing over in order to keep your mum calm? I think it is inevitable she will end up in hospital. I feel so sorry for you. I had a very similar experience with my Dad saying to me don't tell your brother, I don't want him worrying. Boy did I get it in the neck when my brother found out.

Never works because im convinced most of it is just enjoying a moan. She digs her heels in and just plays awkward. She was meant to take these anti inflammatory tablets at 8 am they are still sitting here.

She's had one half bite of sandwich this morning ...which isn't that unusual as her normal routine is making one cheese sandwich around 6am which she makes last her all day till 4pm ...she takes one bite every hour with a cup of tea 🤦‍♂️ she's done that for about 10 years now. Then haa dinner at 5pm

But when she's to take tablets she needs to eat something more but wont listen so instead we always get told " im feeling sick ". You'd think when she was a Matron she'd know this stuff so it just feels like she's being awkward for yhe sake of it.

If the doc comes she will tell fibs of course that she's been taking the anti biotics and anti inflammatory without complaint which she hasn't. But if i say anything in front of doc ill not hear the end of it all day

Ive already been saying to her that if she keeps this up shell end up back in hospital but it don't make any difference.

I think she wont be happy till my sister ends up leaving her holiday and coming home.

Brother was supposed to visit yesterday but cancelled till Saturday instead and because she hasn't told him about her knee and has banned me from telling him he is unaware.

Can't see doctor coming before this afternoon as they haven't even phoned back to speak to her yet which they insist on doing before any home visit. But she's more concerned with wanting the rug hoovered and toilet cleaned before doc comes in ....like he cares .

Her house is spotless anyway 🤦‍♂️
