Tam & co the great winter escape

I don't agree with that as most processed foods work out more expensive, they are just more convienant for people who can't be bothered to cook.

I agree with the shopping bill going up even eggs in Lidl, the ones I buy have gone from £1.59 to £1.75 for ½ doz.
We buy strawberries and raspberries often twice a week which puts the shopping bill up.
I love cooking. If I'm stressed I just go in the kitchen and make a vat of chilli or spag bol. At the end of the day cooking really calms me down (y)

How does the £12 off. Work please
You need the Lidl plus app.
First £50 you spend in a month you get any item from the bakery free.
When you get to £100 you get a£2 voucher.
Then at £200 you get a £10 voucher.

Also get discounts on certain items every week, a few weeks ago they have 20% off the coffee we like so I bought 5 packs (5 is the max).

I was just about to recommend Jack Monroe - cooking on a bootstrap! Her recipes are cheap, easy & quick, & very healthy for the most part! I love the way she changes recipes to make them easier & cheaper - the website is well worth a read!
Me too! Love her creativity :)

I picked up her book Tin Can Cook recently. Some really nice recipes in there.

France is I another ball game bought a Cantlope Mellon in Lidl €3.90, back in the UK £1.69.
Yeah i think france is expensive for food , spain was quite cheap a few years back

It stresses me but 'er indoors says she did all the cooking bringing up the kids it's my turn now.
I have managed to get her to cook the odd meal in van.

Also get oh no not fish again, oh no not salad again obviously met with do it yourself then. That usually shuts her up.

I bought that book at the start of the Pandemic as I thought it would give me some ideas to use up all of the tinned food in the pantry. It is brilliant and I think should be given out at food banks to help those who are scared of cooking/can't cook.

Im just checking out the website now

Online "Dump Dinner" recipes are good too. I am collecting those like mad as I don't like cooking in the van like I do at home :giggle:

Gina
The trouble with the dump dinners are they make 4-6 portions and Tam's living in the van so not much freezer space - the same problem we have when we're on holiday.

I have loads of recipes for smaller portions or just halve the ingredients. So if the recipe calls for 4 chicken breasts I just use two but keep to the same measurements for the veg as loads of veg is no harm. Any leftovers go in the dog  Edited to say Kristina Newman does quite a few 2 person Dump Dinner recipes.

Im considering buying a small counter top freezer to put in the under seat storage. In summer my solar and batteries should be fine to run it aswell as the fridge. Not sure about winter yet. But will see how it goes

Anyone with more knowledge know how much energy this actually uses in dumb terms

Good idea and will save you money. You can batch cook and freeze portions to eat later.

Carbs & Cals Salads is a good book by Chris Cheyette & Yello Balolia. All the salads are for one person. My favourite at the moment. Stop me if I go on too much, food is my passion :ROFLMAO:

Had to go and have a look [obviously], this Amazon review cracked me up:

"2.0 out of 5 stars<Broken link removed>

Returned as this wasn't for me. I was hoping for some budget recipes which were still interesting and I thought this book will offer a nice variety of them. It was basically just recipes using canned food, nothing exciting"

I'd have thought the clue was in the title

From March 1,2021 the most popular models of fridge-freezers will be E- and F-rated. Formerly known as A++ and A+, they are highly efficient, using 40% less energy than the average appliance in homes a decade ago and estimated to cost just £41 or less a year to run.

Ok well that one is rated f so it should be good then ?

I like the fact it has a lock so it shouldn't swing open.

Looks like on average around 510 Watts a day.
Allowing for inverter inefficency about 45 amps a day. So quite a bit.

Is that it running constantly though or with it cutting in and out like my current fridge does?

At the minute with long sunny days its not using a lot but dull days i think i get about 4 max before id need to use b2b or get sunny

Working from the average yearly usage they give, so cutting in & out.

I’m making a paella for my dinner tonight, so easy and yet so tasty…😎
Coming along nicely now…

Our shopping bill this week for the two of us was £65, usually between £55 - £65 used to be £45 - £55.
Always make use of the Lidl`s £12 off every month.
It's the brandy and beer that costs us,,😁😁😁BUSBY
